      if you mean the sechuan pepper corns, they are bitter and tough. you only want the flavour, which is pretty distinct. i love it, i put them in everything... and i don't take them out of the oil. i really like them! but there are recipes where you can grind them up with other spices and use them as a rub for meat... goes well with duck or game.

    • @markl.2299

      See I told you - she's flavoring the oil only. Some people keep it in but many people would say that the flavor is overwhelming.

  • @MrQuagmire26

    Well, olive oil is not good for cooking hot dishes with. It should be a oil with a high smoking point, besides olive oil will affect the flavour of a dish. Secondly, the sichuan pepper corns basically is the star of the kung pao dish. It can be made without, but not recommended.

    • @valerieneal2747
      @valerieneal2747 4 года назад +1

      Um...she used CANOLA oil..which has a high smoking point.

    That is not a tablespoon.That is a serving spoon and it looks like at least two tablespoons worth.

      @ChineseHealthyCook  6 лет назад +1

      +Carol Jenny Hi Carol, I wondered about it before, and actually measured the serving tablespoon and measuring tablespoon. They turned out to be the same. You may try too. On the other side, Chinese cooking doesn’t need exact measuring but adjusting to your taste. Thank you! -Ling

    Please use coconut oil or light olive oil.Canola oil is the Canadian version of rapeseed oil which is not good for you.Apart from that,I love you recipes.

    • @ChineseHealthyCook
      @ChineseHealthyCook  9 лет назад

      +francis jones I'm aware of the controversy about canola oil. Some says good why others say bad. I also use olive oil. Thank you! Webmed says good

      No olive oil. Grapeseed oil is better because it's neutral in flavor.
