- We felt the pressure of the cultural norms around gift giving for years. The holidays felt stressful because the things we valued-high quality goods, shopping second hand, an uncluttered home, non-material things-felt like they constantly rubbed up against the gift giving expectations around us.
So, we decided to embrace our values and form new gift ideas and traditions around those goals. In this video we share all about our favorite intentional gift ideas.

3:54 That is a fantastic idea. I love it!
You've got to add " The Box Car Children" to one of your must-read books with the kids. ❤
Oh yes!! We love those!
Wonderful ideas. Thanks for sharing 😊
You’re welcome! ❤️
Ahhh,The simple life. I wish I had of done this with my daughter and grandsons. I have spent a ton of money on “things” that were thrown in a corner shortly thereafter.
I see the results of this lack of respect for money and many values.
Keep up the good work, The Lord is smiling down on you💖
Thanks for your encouragement ❤️
Our family really loves playing hobby/tabletop board games (the more high quality, well thought out, board games that have real strategy and fun themes) and these make fantastic gifts that are really enduring as well as often teach something to the kids while they play. They are also absolutely beautiful a lot of the time with gorgeous artwork and nice wood pieces. This past week I played Racoon Tycoon and Floriferous with my kids, both of which are favorites. I highly suggest giving modern hobby board games a try if you haven’t before. A lot of them are cooperative too, so you are all on the same team, and they are all a world away from the mean rounds of monopoly and sorry many of us endured as a kids. They have games for little kids (like the ones from peaceable kingdom) as well as “family” weight games that are easy for kids from 6 up to play but have plenty of strategy for parents. Anyway, I just wanted to share one of our favorite types of gifts for the family. We are minimalists with 2 exceptions: books and board games. 😊
Thanks for sharing! It's always helpful to have tried and true recommendations. I love that, minimalists besides books and games :)
Thank you for sharing these moments about your family life. It is wonderful to see how you surround your children and home with love and peace, also striving to guard your children from the temptations of the digital world. I wish many more families (also ours) be like yours. Many blessings! 😊
We certainly aren't perfect but being intentional about things has made such a difference! Thanks for watching! All the best!
Great video! We are on a journey to change how we treat Christmas. These tips are helpful. Bookmarking this video/blog!
Awesome!! So glad this was helpful for you!
good tips, thank you
You’re welcome! ❤️
A friend of mine does three gifts per child, like the three wiseman brought Jesus gift. They always do something they can read, wear, and one play ❤
Love that!!! 🙌❤️
My kids each get one another one gift, and then they get to ask for one thing from Santa. In addition to that my husband and I pick out a few family gifts. Their favorite part of Christmas is thoughtfully remembering something their siblings wanted in the year prior and surprising them with it….the gift GIVING is a big part of Christmas for them, so consequently (since we have 5 kids) they end up getting 4 gifts each plus a Santa present (which is usually another pet 😂, tadpoles one year, parakeets another, a Guinea pig etc.).
13:46 I’m sorry but this was a hilarious thing to say right after “don’t think I am a Christmas grinch” ….”toys happen, toys are inevitable whether we want them to or not”
I have to say….really sounds like not 😂
I actually don’t mind toys, so long as they are sturdy, natural, open ended and beautiful…..looking at your pictures here, it looks like you may be the same 😊
Ha! You're probably right. I think it's certain types of toys that I'm not crazy about but I agree, I don't mind the type you mention at all! Thanks for pointing that out!
Wise choices! I love your perspective. Wish I’d implemented this when we were raising our children. ❤🙏Val C
Thank you!! :)

Out of pure curiosity, why do you block your wedding ring in the video, or was there some kind of editing glitch on this video because there is a blur box in pretty much every scene, and at first it appeared you were trying to block your wedding ring, but it’s actually covering random things in other scenes.
Oh interesting! I have no idea why that’s there! It must be some sort of a glitch because we didn’t blur anything out on our end.
I saw it too. I came to check the comments cause I was confused.
@@rebeccabarnes1425 & @RestorationAcresTN thanks for pointing this out to us! I forgot that we did blur out one small part of this video but something appears to have gone wrong with it. Working on correcting :)
@@FromScratchFarmstead no problem at all. It just sparked my curiosity.
Wow! The ChatBooks for each kid are such a good stocking stuffer 🥹🥹🥹
It’s such a hit!!! Thanks for watching!
