  • Peter in his epistle wrote, "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight." 1 Peter 3:3-4
Now, we must understand that this verse isn’t saying that we should not take care of ourselves or look our best. The God of all beauty has no problem with us wearing beautiful clothing and jewelries. In fact, he wants us to look graceful, elegant, well adorned in beautiful ornaments and be presentable as the king's sons and daughters.
But it's teaching us to not focus our attention on outward beauty but on right character. If one has outward beauty with stinking character, it amounts to nothing.
However, when we focus on the outward appearance and neglect the beauty of our inner selves, that’s when we need center our hearts on Christ and allow him to transform us from the inside out.
Therefore the inward beauty is the beauty of the heart, it is the beauty that is rooted in character, the beauty of good behavior, it is the beauty of a meek and quiet spirit.
