- Video review of my new YZ250FX and the parts I have added for off road riding. I have 7 hours on this bike and really enjoy it over my tried and true WR250F. Throttle response, balance and suspension are amazing compared to what I was riding. I can maneuver this thing so much easier on the trails. This thing is a joy to ride and I am absolutely happy with my decision. I really have not ridden much else in the woods, so I can't tell you how much more I like it over a 2T or some other manufacturer. I just know I like it!!
I have a 20’wr250f, for quickest starts, put tension on the throttle cables, don’t turn the throttle just tension..it lights immediately every time.
This worked really well for me on about 80% of the starts on my last ride...The problem is I am slow at it an need to get a little quicker and dial in the tension feel!! Thanks man!
Awesome video! Roll the throttle forward to turn off cold start. Took me awhile to figure this out... so if your looking at the right side of the bike (clutch side) you would turn the throttle clockwise past 0% throttle and the cold start will dis-engage. Looking to replace my 15' yz250fx with a 21' yz250fx, I had the 20' wr450f way too much bike after un-corking
Good overview. Picking up mine tomorrow.
I have the TM Designs disk guard with a few rides and drops on it and what not. Has stayed intact so far.
Awesome video! Put a deposit on one in mid November. They tell me it should be in next week. 🤙
I get mine next week !!!
I thought they had fixed hard starting by now, but in 2020 there were a ton of complaints of hard starting and actually fouling the plug. The fuel tables for starting were super jacked up (yamaha knows this) and it needs to be taken to a dealer to be reprogrammed. It is NOT something you can tune out with the app. If you feel like this is something you are dealing with, I can try and point you in the right direction.
Just picked up a 21' 250FX for my wife yesterday. Seems to start okay and I talked to the dealer beforehand. They didn't check the CO numbers like I asked, but he did print me off a sheet from Yamaha addressing the issue. So you should be able to go to your dealer now and get it fixed. I can forward you all the papers he printed for me if you'd like.
Will, that would be awesome frgable@gmail.com. Thanks rider!!!
@@PennsylvaniaEnduroRiding no problem! PA riders have to stick together lol. I should be home tomorrow or Friday I can scan them and email them then 🤟🤟
Interesting ! I have a 2020 KLX 300R, and I gotta say...I'm just about ready to upgrade. Don't get me wrong, it's been great...taught me how to ride but, I want something a little more powerful, quicker, and ultimately something LIGHTER. Good lord the KLX300R is like 280 pounds.. I'm over it. Been looking at this 250FX and the KTM 350 XCF.
Its a fun bike!! I considered the 350XCF but I hear they are really fast bikes in single track.. and I don;t need to go fast.
Bark busters have been IMO always a struggle to get the perfect sweet spot for all involved. Position of levers, handlebar width etc. Always a compromise somewhere.
Yep, then you clip a tree and tweak something! :-)
Beauty ride! I have yet to ride a 250fx but I would love to swing my leg over one. Currently on a yz250 2stroke, I love it but the new tech on the four strokes is impressive.
When we ridin? Get better see you soon!
Husqvarna FTW! 😀. Nice bike bud
Real nice ride
I know with the new sherco four strokes you can solve the hard starts by cracking the throttle like an old carb bike. Worth a shot
Thanks will give it a try!!
I believe it states in manual yoi not suppose to twist throttle with this one. They always had hard starts especially 2020 ... when I purchased my 2021 I thought yamaha fixed the issue but it seems its still there. People been having better starts switching to Antigravity 8 cell battery from factory one.
Switched to M59 front recently as thats the hot tire from what everyone tells me and I do like it a lot. What are your normal tires as stated in the video?
Normal tires of preference would be M59 front and IRC TR-11 Trials Tire on rear. Unstoppable! If I need a knobby, Shinko 505 a great value! Been through about 4-5 of them. I have a IRC VE33S Gekkota Gummy Tire lined up to try... but the 505 is a great value!
@@PennsylvaniaEnduroRiding yep we normally run the 505 rear as well with Tubliss and have had great success up there. Good to note about the TR11. Enjoy the new bike! I had looked at one of those as well too
Get a lowering link I have one on mine they are very nice
How do you like the EE skid plate and linkage guard? Debating on that one or the AXP.
Looking at a new ride soon, been riding a yz250 set up for GNCC. I need an easier to ride bike since I am getting older. I have been looking at the wr450 or the 450fx. since I am also vertically challenged, just under 5'10" what seat do you recommend to drop it a little?
I bought a seat concepts lowering seat because I did not want to mess with the suspension. It helped out a little bit, but ended up cracking in half in less than a year. They did replace for free under warranty. If I could ride better, I wouldn’t be putting my feet down so much. When I get the suspension Done, I’ll get the shops opinion on a lower link
@@PennsylvaniaEnduroRiding yeah if I could ride more often and get better, I wouldn’t need to lower my Bike either!!
Trying to find out if the yz250fx has a lighting coil?
Hey, I was just curious why you went with this over a 2 stroke like a KTM or Husky? I am torn between the YZ250FX, its bigger brother the YZ450FX OR... a 2 stroke 300 like the KTM, Gasgas, Husky 300s. I ride tight trails here in Florida, and weight it a BIG factor due to my fitness level, age, and the amount of sand that we have here. The modern 4 strokes are much closer to the 2 strokes weight wise than in the past, the 2 strokes definitely feel lighter when moving though. I have owned just about every type of dirt bike out there, but I am just getting back into riding after a few years off. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
Hi...No real reason... no massive amounts of research... no pros and cons list....just always have ridden Yamaha 4 strokes with great luck. Coming off a 2005 WR250F.. it felt right. I do enjoy the engine braking...plus...everyone has an orange or white bike so I stay a little different and support the underdogs. It was a little cheaper too. I'm not racing or running hard enduro either...so don't need crazy power, but it can handle the gnarly stuff. I really do need to try a 2 stroke someday though. Sorry I don;t have a solid answer for you.
@@PennsylvaniaEnduroRiding Thanks for the reply. I am really all over the board on what to get.
where did you get the kickstand? i just picked up my bike the other day.
Its the factory kickstand, but some guys are replacing it with Fastway Kickstands.... they are $alty though.
Can you share your single track map you use?
Over 3 months wait now in Australia!
ugh!! Dealer told me they are NOT getting anymore - all been cancelled. Also that the freight prices doubled for bikes.
