Billy is incredible. let’s start there. Chris is an absolute savant. Billy is one of the most talented players we’ve seen, and yet the harmony lines over the top of the main guitar motif are just… next level. thank you for sharing these videos!
Their voices blend so well. Super jazzy groundhog. Very excited to hear this it's a song that has stuck to my ears. Like settler farmers come to life a little while it's being sung.
Thanks for posting this. I was there and phew this was such a beautiful show. I prefer standing at shows and folks sat the whole night. But musically it was one of the best Billy shows I've seen. And Chris Thile has got to be one of the best mandolin players out there. This was a really special show and I'd love to see them do some more shows together. They played off each other so great. 2 hours and 20 minutes straight. Cory Henry also sat in. The tunes he did with Chris were amazing. Then later he came out and finished the show with them. As you can hear.. The audience was so stoked after each song. Also, David Geffen Hall which was renovated( I'm forgetting the name it used to be)at Lincoln center but holy smokes.. Acoustically it's one of the best sounding little theaters I've ever been to. It was perfect for such a stripped down performance. I never saw Chris Thile before but I'm now a fan for life. Billy's the biggest thing in bluegrass nowadays and he does such an amazing job every night he plays. Cory is also incredible. Check him and his band out any chance you get.
Can't believe I'm hearing someone else do this song. 1st heard it on a pbs concert by Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie with Shenandoah way back in '75! Anybody out there know the origin of this song? Love Billy, and paired up with Chris Thile, thats just magic..
