There are 2 or 3 Screws on the carb, one is near the air filter, that allows how much air the carb is allowed to get and the other one is in the middle somewhere. Thats your idleing speed, if you screw it in the idle gets slower if you screw it out the idle gets faster. Try that, it sounds like that is the problem
Yeah that or the throttle cable
Or could also be the carb needle 🤷♂️
Nah you shouldn’t adjust the idle if it was fine before it’s a different problem and these engines don’t have a mixture screw

Pro tip: When disassembling things, take a whole lot of pictures with your phone of the things as you disassemble them. That way, if you get lost during the reassembly, you can just go look at your pictures and put it back together again, from the pictures you took. The more complex a thing is the more important it is to take those pictures. If the words "I don't know" appear at all when trying to describe a thing and all of its parts, you need to take those pictures.

It's probably a throttle cable adjustment, or governor tension spring
It was a kinked governor spring lol
At 4:02 he had the choke on..
There’s 2 screws on the carb that adjusts fuel and air, he needs to play a little with them.
Because it’s exhaust looks and sounds rich with the idle.
Kinked throttle control spring!!!
Usually there’s a fuel mixture and a air mixture screw on the carb this usually means there’s to much air to fuel meaning it’s idling higher you can either put more fuel in by adjusting the fuel one or less air with the air screw, you’d get different results depending on what one you choose, this happened to my motorbike, hope it helps
You're never too old to learn something new. You doing things outside of your comfort zone and learning new things is awesome. There should be adjustment screws for the idle, also next time you clean the carbs, let the jet soak in carb cleaner.
you could see the adjustment screwhead at 2:11 for the brown one, it could probably be removed and cleaned too
I’m pretty sure he already adjusted the idle screw in the last video not sure though
Hello Matt, I had the exact same problem with my Coleman that had the same carb on it. My Coleman's carb was "tamper proof" and had the idle and mix screws cut off from the factory but they were set wrong and so the bike idled high and would take off just like yours. I hope you have an adjustable carb but if you don't you will need to order a carb on Amazon. I got mine on Amazon with a whole kit with spark plug and wire and everything for $17 but now they have put their prices up a bit. It will be the exact same carb but with idle and mix screws visible. The idle screw has a cheap black plastic head, hard to miss. And the mix screw is metallic. Turn the mix screw fully in and then ease it out 2 full turns to start and you may have to go 2.25 or 2.5 finally to get it running right. It is easy when you have the adjustable carb. You will have to just play with the idle screw, I can't make recommendations on it.
Lol your brother probably did that. When you first got the motorcycles he found that he could make his go faster by pulling directly on the throttle cable.
Was about to comment this. I remember he was messing with it that time at their fathers ranch when they all went riding.
That's what I said last vid
Mark is in heaven laughing at you trying to fix the motorcycle he modified to go faster 😂😂
Exactly what I was thinking.
Mark's was the camo one, not the black one. And all he did was fiddle with the governor, he didn't have anything to do with the kinked throttle cable.
@@60anthonyh Matt literally said the green one was in his dads barn.
I went back and watched the original video because I too thought this was most likely a Mark Mod to make the bike go faster. Turns out Marks bike (in the video) was the camo one... BUT, in the video he does say that by pulling on the throttle spring you could over ride the governor. So idk if he and OP Drewskie swapped out bikes, or if Mark just did the mod to both of their bikes, but I’m about 95% sure the bent spring was indeed a Mark Mod.
Throttle cable needs to be adjusted or new one.

Hey Matt on the side of the carb there should be a little screw called the idle screw if you turn it a certain way when it's running it should fix the high idle and maybe on the other bike make it have a little bit of a higher idle, much love from Ontario! Edit: never mind I guess I should have watched the whole video lol
I was thinking the same
He tried a bunch, the problem was the idle screw wouldn't work
Matt. There should be a screw with a spring on it. On the side of the carburetor that you can screw in to idle it up and screw out to idle it down. It will be visible to see
I know this because I work at an atv shop. I’ve been working on things like this for about 1 year I’d say
I feel like Mark was trying to make that go faster and that’s how that spring got bent seems logical to me
Probably turned up the idler screw a bit.
Yup was thinking the same thing
When you turn the choke off and it stalls, that means the idol jet his clogged. The one you cleaned is the main jet.
This is definitely the problem, its usually black plastic, and under the choke idle screw. It pulls right out.
Remember when mark messed with the throttle wire, you might just have to readjust the throttle wire.
That or he just need to readjust the idle screw
@@dhomevideos He said in the last video that he backed the idle screw all the way out and it was still high. Small engines will idle high if they're running lean, so either the air/fuel mixture screw needs to be backed out a bit to allow more fuel, or the governor lever needs to be moved a tooth or 2 over. Might also check the governor linkage because when Mark was pulling on the linkage to make it rev higher, he may have bent it.
Didn’t Mark mess with the governor on his bike is that why it’s idling so high?
Those moments of me driving the big machines with my dad (even though i really wasn't doing anything) are the things i will remember forever. I lost him when i was 14 and im 27 now but i will never forget. ❤

Ethanol free gas on small engines is the key. Ethanol gums everything up, especially if things sit for a while.
Another RUclips channel : Donieboy73
You can use a paper clip sized wire or something to clean out the jets or let them soak in carb cleaner. As for the high idle, I would check the idle screw, fuel mixture screw, or the throttle pin inside the carb (you should be able to take your air filter off and look and see if it’s all the way in).
Didn't your brother mess with the governor of one of the ones he was riding for a speed boost?
Remember that Mark “adjusted” his to make it go faster. Just sayin’
Yea I said this in the last video. It has to be the governor
Yea there should be a screw to adjust the idle somewhere on the motor
A common 'fix' to make it go fast is just bending the governor arm. Just comparing them to one-another should tell one way or the other.
correct, Matt probably needs to review that video when Mark tweaked it.

@@sebastiend.5335 Am I right?, I am not shure just a theory. I saw a comment saying it might have been when Mark took of the governor. I think that's the issue because it was idling high before mat took apart the carburetor.
@@Ryan-fy3ww You were right. The cable was being pulled and he dislodged it! ;)
The jet might be partly clogged on the one running rough. If it turns out remove it and spray cleaner down it. Put it back in, test it. Might need a small needle to run thru it, then spray carb cleaner again. Reassemble, test again. Idling too high is factory setting on some models. Might need a replacement carb. About 20 bucks on amazon, just match carb to horsepower to motor. Good luck.
Usually, there's an idle screw just to the rear of the carburetor. I have a bike with a Predator engine on it, and the screw is a Phillip's head, black plastic screw. Turn it to the left to reduce idle speed, to the right to increase it. That should be the problem, just a simple screw adjustment.

You're welcome. Glad to be of assistance. The high idle can be adjusted. A throttle grip has a cable that pulls on the butterfly valve in the carb. Follow that cable from the grip to the carb. There should be a exterior pivot point for that bfv rod on the outside of the carb. They usually use a stop screw that is adjustable for the idle speed on the cam at the end of the rod. Gas that has ethanol in it attracts moisture faster than non ethanol gas, so it goes bad quicker. As you know small engines need air and gas. The carb takes the gas and atomizes it with the flow of incoming air so it can be burned in the combustion chamber. The jets are the way of proportioning the correct mixture for atomization. They sometimes are adjustable with a needle valve (that goes thru the center of them) changing the size of the orfice to get the ratio of air and fuel correct for optimum performance. Check the air cleaners too.
The black one just need the idle screw on the carb backed off that's all i can tell is wrong with it.
