      Can you design a couple soap savers similar to this but use some textured stitches? I bet the griddle stitch the suzette stitch and the waffle stitch would make great soap savers. Those textured stitches would be good stfor exfoliating your skin.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Год назад

      I’m happy to hear! As far as the color fading, I would assume after many, many washes, but I guess it depends on the saturation of each color.

    I made one of these to practice my age-old skills. I successfully completed it after watching your video several times.... it's very thorough, Thank You! When it was done, I put a bar of soap in it and washed my hands. I hung the bag (with the soap in it) on the faucet to dry but the 100% cotton yarn holds onto so much water that the soap just gets mushy. I think the soap will melt very quickly. I would like to give these as little gifts but seeing how mine looks hanging on the faucet (droopy and saggy and melty), I wouldn't.
    Would it be possible to make these out of some kind of twine? Maybe it would be more "airy" and dry better. Is it practical/possible to crochet with twine, or is there another "non-yarn" material that would allow the water to drain off the soap? e.g. natural jute, macrame cord, or cotton baker's twine?

    • @JeannettieP
      @JeannettieP 4 дня назад

      I use mine just to store dry soap when traveling. Maybe if you used a different type of stich which resulted in bigger holes, it would dry quicker?

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 дня назад

      Thank you! Cotton is super absorbent, so I would understand why it might take longer to dry. Maybe try wringing out the soap saver to help get rid of excess water? I don't know if another material would work, but you're more than welcome to try it out!

  • @kathys6848
    @kathys6848 12 дней назад

    When you cinch the drawstring it just loosely closes. When you use the soap, it slides around and wants to jump out of the bag because the drawstring doesn't keep the bag closed tightly. I tied a knot in the drawstring but I would be interested to see how you would solve this problem.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 дня назад

      As far as I know, you can either tie a knot or pull the drawstring closed. Maybe try weaving the drawstring in and out a little more, so there's more of a closure on top? Or I guess you could make the drawstring chain a little longer, so you can not only cinch it closed, but you can also tie a knot as well. Hope that helps!

    • @haleytyrrell9609
      @haleytyrrell9609 Год назад +1

      Yes, you absolutely can. You put the bar of soap into the soap saver, pull it shut with the drawstring, and you can leave it in the shower or hang it up somewhere if you have a hook in the shower or something like that to keep it ventalated and dry for
      you to use next time. And they're very eco-friendly and help you to use up all your leftover soap pieces. I've been on a soap saver kick for almost a year now and have made about 105 of them. There are a few other crochetfor on RUclips who have made soap savers on their channels, and I love them too. These would be perfect for birthdays or special occasions as well. They make wonderful gifts.

      It's possible that your tension is too tight in some spots and loose in others. You could also be skipping stitches. Keep trying! :)
