So I don’t need to use the chrome baseplate with my intricate dies, unless I feel like it needs more pressure? Is that what I’m hearing? I want to start cutting with my machine as it arrived in the post today but I’m worried I won’t be able to use it without that baseplate
That's correct, the pressure of the Switch can handle intricate dies, if your die is very intricate you could try a chrome precision base plate but you should try without first 😊

Hello! Yes you can use Sizzlits in the Big Shot Switch Plus. It would be the same sandwich as Thinlits and the instructions for this are in the booklet sold with the Switch Machine. As for Quickutz - You would have to check with the manufacturer to see if it's compatible with this machine. Hope that helps!
Yes the Bigz dies are compatible with the Switch. We would just say to take into consideration the thickness of the material you'd be using with the Bigz and this machine 🙂
Hi Yvonne, we have a Magnetic Platform for wafer thin dies on our websites that hold Thinlits, Framelits and other wafer-thin, dies securely in place during cutting 😊 - Steph, Sizzix
We can't advise on how to use other branded dies with the Sizzix Machines due to their thickness, other brands may have guidance on their website though with which machines they are compatible with, hope this helps!
Hi Anne, Please contact our customer service team directly and they will be able to look into this for you. You can contact them here in the US: www.sizzix.com/contact/ or here in the UK & Europe: www.sizzix.co.uk/contact/ Thank you 😊
@@sizzix Thank you, I tried this, but they weren't able to help me. They suggested a replacement, but I didn't buy it from Sizzix. Also, the machine works well and I love it
On both tips and tricks videos, you both say not to use reverse button once the platform has gone through, but it might be helpful to know why. Could you fill us in on that?
Hi Cecilia! There are sensors inside the machine, meaning that if the sandwich passes these they will not be able to come back through the machine. Hope this helps! 😊 - Abbie, Sizzix
I was told by a authorized Sizziz dealer that using the reverse button after the sandwich completely passes through , it could damage the machine or ruin it.
Cool machine, and useful tips. However, for such expensive tool and accessories, you should provide protective film for cutting pads. It is clear that they are already damaged, and they are not cheap to buy extra. Your engeniers should design it with durable protective foil or smth similar. Also, why do not you include cutting pads in your Boutique Sizzix embosing machine?? I am wondering are there any cutting pads that can be bought for this embosing
The cutting pads will mark over time but they will continue to work perfectly well! They are, however, a consumable item and will eventually need replacing but we have plenty of videos that share tips on how to get the best from them and to make them last longer. Any protective film will still get marked due to the amount of pressure from the roller but again, this doesn't ruin them, they will still work just fine.
Great quick video! Reminded to order the large storage envelopes and magnet sheets for the lovely dies included with this fantastic machine. Thanks for the tips! 😊
Yes the Extended Multipurpose Platform and Extended Platform work with the Switch machine. You can see which accessories are compatible with our machines here www.sizzix.co.uk/media/uploads/cms/uk/Compatibility-Charts/Machine_Accessory_Compatability.pdf 🙂
Please can you advise me about the cutting plates? I have had my Switch for about three months and I’m on my fourth set of plates. I know they are supposed to mark and even bend but all the former marks are coming out onto my card stock. This can’t be right surely?
Hi Sally! You could try and use a buffer card shim to help take the impact from the plates and protect the card stock. Alternatively, you could also take the die-cut and place it in a blank folded card and run it back though the machine, this helps to smooth out the surface of the card. Hope this helps! 😊 - Steph, Sizzix
Yes Sally, I use a piece of scrap paper, basically photocopy paper, and place it on the plate that is scratched and then my CS and die down of course. That way it protects the CS from getting scratch marks. If my plates are really bad, I sometimes will place another sheet on top of the die that's face down. And remember, to always rotate the plate that has all the scratch marks and warping, including turning it from front to back. If you start doing this as soon as you start using the plates, the warping is minimized. Hope that helps.
The clear plates are cutting pads, these along with the adapter make sandwiches for die-cutting. The adapter shows in illustrations what technologies it is required for.

I'm on my second Big Shot Switch Plus, first one was returned to Sizzix after I explained my problem. I'm reading over the "booklet" that comes with the machine because I want to cut with a Impresslits die. The sandwich shows (bottom to top) Big Shot Switch Plus Platform, Adapter Pad B, a cutting pad, the embossing folder, and another cutting pad. Hi, While other branded dies and embossing folders may be used with the Sizzix Die Cutting and Embossing machines we cannot suggest which sandwiches, or if any shims are required for the perfect cut. We can however share the best ways to cut with Sizzix technologies and you can find our compatibility table on the Sizzix website 🙂 - Abbie, Sizzix
Hey Bronwyn....I would try adding a cardstock shim, or 2, to see if that helps first. Just keep playing with the sandwich, slowly increasing the thickness, before say trying to add say an additional plate. I know I had issues with another brand of an electric cutting machine that I have, that was actually 'cutting' the 'embossed' lines in the die instead of 'impressing them'. I ended up having to take out the magnetic shim in the sandwich, and then it worked fine. I hope this helps as I know it can be frustrating. Happy crafting
Hi Diane, this is completely normal for the plates and eventually over time they will need replacing. However to help, try alternating the plates 🙂 - Steph, Sizzix

I find that my plates are warping way faster than when I use my regular big shot (yes i understand the concept of pressure). How can I avoid this and have my plates be long lasting again? I don't want to have to buy plates more frequently. Thanks.
Hi Lorrie, this is completely normal and all our machines will leave marks onto your cutting plates. Yes, with the switch it does happen faster than other machines due to the high amount of pressure - as Rosalie's comment explains. As the plates are a consumable item they will require replacing after a certain amount of use. We can put together a video to talk about this and steps you can take to prevent this as much as you can but unfortunately it will happen ☺ - Abbie, Sizzix
@@sizzix no this is different. The non-cutting edge of the dies should not get pressed into the non cutting plate. I spoke with your customer service yesterday and was advised to return it as a defective machine.
Lorrie I have had the same exact experience you are having. Have had manual big shot for years and my plates are still perfectly flat, no huge issues with the top plate having impressions left by my die. I don’t mind abit of warping and understand that that can happen. I contacted sizzix and told them my issue. It’s like a huge divot from the die on my top plate and it’s making the machine pretty unusable. 6 emails back And fourth and fobbed off. Very disappointed.
Hi, Please contact our customer service team directly and they will be able to look into this for you. You can contact them here in the US: www.sizzix.com/contact/ or here in the UK & Europe: www.sizzix.co.uk/contact/ Thank you 😊
Hi Alison, as the plates are consumables this is completely normal. To help make the plates last longer take a look at these RUclips videos: ruclips.net/video/Szjo74XwQZU/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/_QFzEx8ALx8/видео.html 🙂
I've had a Big Shot for years with barely any warping. The Switch Plus plates warped terribly on the first pass. My cutting plate looks like a giant bubble - nothing even close to what is shown in this video - and not anything like what I'm used to on the Big Shot. It makes it impossible to put more than one item because the cutting plate shifts all over the place when I'm about to feed it through the machine. I'm using dies that are the same dies I use in the Big Shot. The pressure was so great on the first pass that the non-cutting plate has permanent impressions from the top of the die and makes marks on anything I put through it. I'm glad to see that I can use the Big Shot plates in the Switch because I'm just not happy with the big plates. I can use my Big Shot plates for months/years and I don't get any warping. One use of the Switch ones and they are kinda non-functional. They work, but not well. Is there any way to adjust the tightness of the rollers so it's not putting as much pressure on the plates? @@sizzix
I have just recently bought Sizzix switch plus machines and the plastic bass plates are completely unusable they have warped so badly they no longer work in the machine I’ve hardly use them I bought some more and the same thing is happening I can’t keep buying £20 worth of plastic base plates i’ve looked at the video and as far as I’m concerned I’m doing exactly the same as your demonstrations i’ve also got an E bosser which I’ve had for years i’ve never had any problem with the plastic base plates
Hi Gaynor, sorry to hear that this keeps happening with your plates! To help prevent them warping we suggest flipping and alternating the plates over and try placing your dies in a different corner of the plate each time you cut 🙂
Yes I have done that it makes no difference it’s so badly bent after literally a couple of days use I have sent it back with a letter telling the company to contact the manufacturer as there is something clearly wrong either the machine is too strong for the plastic plates or the plastic plates are inferior product I’m not sure which. thanks for your help🧐

I am hoping that through this channel I can get in contact with Sizzix. I have been trying to get a phone number to contact them because the chrome precision base plate as fantastic as the chrome part is the piece that is glued to it. It is adhered to it with SON, some type of adhesive That plates however, it is made out of plastic or some other material is cracking and then it curls like curling ribbon away from the chrome plate while the chrome plate is still fully perfectly flat. I had just done a review on how fantastic these plates were as I had bought two of them and it was a very short time after I did a great review for these, that one by one, both of my plates did the exact same thing that the customers question I was reviewing his complaint was that his was doing the same thing they were cracking, and then curling a part not the chrome part, the plastic with the directions on it that is adhered to the chrome plate. So I hope that Sizzix is monitoring this channel and that they can reach out to me because this is what we have all that on a diet cutting machine have waited for is a plate that will not mark up your card stock particularly mirror, cardstock, and one that will not work. The chrome plate does both of these things and is the answer to our dreams. But the plastic piece that you would hear to. It is a necessary, and had I kept both plates. I would have tried to adhere the chrome to the chrome and see if that would have fix the problem. Unfortunately, I was able to send one back, but it was stuck with the other defective plate so I am hoping to reach out to Sizzix through this channel and get some help with this very well known problem. If this has not happened to you yet, I guarantee you if you die cut enough, it will. It is a true shame because the answer lies within the chrome plate so I hope Sizzix is working on this now and I would like to hear a reply to my comment from Sizzix as far as what is being done for this problem. Thank you.
@@cheryllambourne2194 I have had sizzix web address on my desk for months so I can try to get an email out to them and photos and just haven’t had time when I think of it. But I’m going to. Why even need the plastic plate? I wonder if they could weld together a piece of the same chromed metal only thinner on the bottom, or just make it thicker with no plastic piece at all. But they are fantastic for not marking up foil and the chrome doesn’t bend! Just that stupid plastic! Makes you think they never tested this out! I used 2 plates for a short time and that was awesome too. Because it doesn’t get cut up! But they must not care.
What can I do, my plates are not straight again?

I have been having huge issues with my plates warping after only a few cuts which is making me crazy
@@sizzix
I have just recently bought Sizzix switch plus machines and the plastic bass plates are completely unusable they have warped so badly they no longer work in the machine I’ve hardly use them I bought some more and the same thing is happening
I can’t keep buying £20 worth of plastic base plates i’ve looked at the video and as far as I’m concerned I’m doing exactly the same as your demonstrations i’ve also got an E bosser which I’ve had for years i’ve never had any problem with the plastic base plates

Unless you have a physical disability, I don't understand the need for an electric cutter. Are people that lazy that they won't crank a handle!?
As you said, it's especially helpful for those who find a crank handle difficult but it's really just a personal preference! :)
Thank you.
I have that same problem with the chrome plate separating from the black part. Is there any improvement being done to help this Sizzix Switch user?
I posted that commercial so long ago, right after the video and not a single reply- a big company like that! Corporations these days are all about one thing/ it starts with a big fat G!
What do I do if the big shot plus gets stuck?
A commenter above said she put another sandwich in front of the smaller stuck one to finally get it to go through
