Thanks for watching everyone! Subscriptions, likes, and comments are deeply appreciated. We are looking forward to bringing you more banter and insight about some of our favorite films.
Really enjoying the content, both Nerd Legion and this! Could you please also make a community post on youtube with the 4 upcoming movies? For those of us who kept our sanity intact and don't use social media.
Two awarded investigative journalists and an actor, all of them really passionate about culture, discussing films they actually like is the show I've wanted for a very long time
Easily my favorite podcast I’ve seen recently. I honestly don’t play league or csgo anymore. I barely watch either but this is just all of the best parts of those podcasts but with a topic I still enjoy
We think there may be quite a few people like you who enjoy our content but maybe don't watch much esports anymore. Hopefully they can find their way to this channel!
Absolutely loved this episode. The format is really creative, going more and more obscure and I love that it gives a chance for the viewers to do their homework and catch up on the movies being talked about, so we ourselves can form an informed opinion instead of just accepting everything as gospel. Both Thorin and Richard are powerhouses when it comes to movies, they play together like a well-oiled machine. And Richard can go full scholar mode, bringing up the sacret texts buried a hundred years ago, giving truly rare gems of information that most people will miss if they just watched the movie. I've been enjoying alot of the more modern cinema-critics like the EFAP-crew with Mauler, RedLetterMedia, Drinkers' Bar with the Critical Drinker, and some of their crossovers with other creators. Your show fits in with a unique angle I haven't seen explored before. Just like General Grievous, i'll be adding this one to my collection!
Really loving the LFN Culture stuff. I don’t have as much time to pay attention to esports these days but I love y’all as podcast personalities so it’s great to get general pop culture content from y’all.
Great opening episode, I'm looking forward to more content on the LFN culture channel. After a long drunken D&D session, my friends and I would always put on the Thing to end the night. We still quote this movie all the time.
In rewatching and remembering what a good fist pick this was for the series. I watched a got movie, learned some history, even got into some philosophy which I never would’ve experienced otherwise. The best trio ever 🙌
Never watched The Thing, BUT I just finished reading the Southern Reach Trilogy the other day, and Annihilation was definitely my fav one to read. Can't wait for next week's ep.!
ive honestly always been looking for a show with my favourite personalities in esports talking about non esports stuff that i dont know that much and getting interesting information from everyones points of view. Keep up the Great work LFN!
happy to see this pod come to life after so many years of richard and thoorin talking about having a show about everything but esports. hell yea im in!
Man it's so great to see Richard in a setting where he's not pessimistic and downtrodden. I always appreciate his insight, but there's something so lovely abou hearing him talk about things he enjoys!
Used to watch a lot of movies when I was young, lots of classics and whatever my parents had on dvd, but as I got older I stopped watching so much. I think this will bring back my old love for movies as I always enjoy speaking about a movie almost as much as watching it. Great job guys will be watching every episode!
I read The Things by Peter Watts because of this episode and it was a truly amazing read. It's a great exercise in perspective just to highlight how grotesque and horrifying earthen biology and behavior could appear to an alien. The slow build up towards the aliens revelation and eventual conviction are incredible. How the way the story is written really forces you to get into that headspace and figure out what The Thing is currently describing which you just take for granted.
Loved watching this pilot episode, as someone that doesn't watch movies, hearing you guys talk about them in detail is still very enjoyable, and I might check them out with a couple of friends of mine in the future.
Usually a TV show guy but watching this movie and hearing the insight and opinions about it has got me hooked to following this podcast series. Appreciate y'all's hard work and content
Was unsure if I would enjoy this, but this was a great watch/listen. Love seeing some of the scenes they are talking about edited in. Also another reason for me to watch more movies.
This is one of my favorite movies ever and I was so sad that the 40th anniversary showing didn't happen in my city. I would KILL to see this in theaters. They don't make 'em like this anymore... Honestly has one of my favorite movie commentaries too. John Carpenter and Kurt Russell talk and Kurt teases his favorite line of the movie and when it happens, they both BURST out laughing so hard. So good!
Not even one bit into horror, cosmic or not, but you all's chemistry will get me to watch anything. Genuinely appreciate broadening my horizons like this, would never think to watch or look into these movies & genres otherwise.
I've been watchig along every week since this episode dropped 4 weeks ago, thoroughly enjoyed carving out time to watch the movie on Sunday night in preparation for your episodes. Realized the least I could do was comment to let you all know + boost the engagement stats! I had never seen The Thing, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked watching it. Also a joy to see all 3 of you collaborate on content like this - esports is fun but as many other folks said in the comments, I also don't have as much time to watch nowadays. Keep up the good work guys, thanks!
I did the exact thing Thorin mentioned nit to do, I got way too high on a full stomach, and as the dog kennel scene started, I got massively scared, so badly I got sick to my stomach, and ended up throwing up into the dog's water bowl. It was horrific.
Been watching y’all in some form for about a decade at this point and very glad to get to hear the three of you discuss topics without being weighed down by esports. Cheers to the launch of another must-listen podcast!
been really looking forward to these type of content, especially given your expert media literacy, interest in mythology and stories, love that Richard even dug up reviewers quotes to dunk on them and contextualize the reception then dived into the history and background of it.
Incredible episode. Loved the dynamic with Richard (who I dont always love) digging up the historic background, old reviews etc. Looking forwards to the next installments which I will all have to prepare for as I have not seen any of them.
Loved this and can’t wait for more! If I could make one suggestion it’s to take out the background music. It can distract from the conversation at times
This movie had so many amazing scenes, that linger with you, where details spring back into your mind later on, giving you "ohhhhh that might have been..." moments. Looking forward to the next movies and your thoughts :)
Very excited to have richard back on a regular lfn show, and all of the lfn content has been great doing chores and out on hikes very excited for the sports channel too!
Can not wait for more of this show. If you do decide to revisit cosmic horror in the future i would recommend "The Void". Solid movie and pretty niche i believe. Hyped for Annihilation review. Awesome work guys.
I don't have a theme to pitch, but some movies that feel like a perfect match to this trio in my mind are Sorcerer by William Friedkin, King of New York by Abel Ferrara and the absolute classic that is the Glengarry Glen Ross!
I'm looking forward to this series. The movie and music tangents/viewer questions on all y'alls podcasts over the years were always interesting for me as someone who didn't grow up watching many movies. I've got a weekly movie night with friends now cuz they wanted to fix that, and I've gotten more than a few well regarded suggestions from y'all over the years.
Loved the episode and the direction the channel is taking! Great analysis, good chemistry between the cast and some interesting views on the political backgrounds i had never thought about before, while paranoia as a theme is obvious, i never put the movie into the historic setting of the cold war in my head. Looking forward to getting a new persective on a lot of my favourite movies in the future! Also great choices for the cosmic horror theme, haven't seen From Beyond yet, but I'll remedy that shortly. Would've loved to have seen Sunshine in there, as it is one of my favourite Sci-Fi movies, but monte already mentioned it, so you guys are obviously aware of it already. All in all im super hyped for this show!
One of my top10 movies of all time, I guess as was pointed out early it just came out at a bad time culturally. Re-watching E.T with little to no nostalgia for it, it's incredible how much more The Thing holds up to it. I guess one of the reasons it's easy to forget that it's Morricone is that it's a Carpenter film, and he does a lot of his own scores. Great discussion from 3 different people, I always love listening to people discuss movies so this is a perfectly set up podcast, and I think somewhere between 50m - 1.30h is a decent length as well. Kinda hope we either get in the mouth of madness in this series, it's one of the most fun lovecraftian style movies, and I just assume you're doing Event Horizon, but maybe I'll be surprised by the third and fourth pick ^^
I'm already salivating at the idea of them discussing some of the known classics like The Exorcist and maybe some of the better ones in the modern day especially knowing that Richard is a massive horror fan Also, will there be an episode on the Rod Serling Twilight Zone at any point
Watched it for the first time and I really think its a great movie particularly the pacing and build up was great. The soundtrack to me actually really stood out so was a bit surprised that it wasn't universerly praised more. Really looking forward to more episodes of this podcast insight and analysis was really fun, I didn't think of the Cold War subtext when watching it so that was interesting.
Praise the algorithm! There's an incredible 'The Thing' board game by the way, that very much does the 'Among us, but people et infected rather than killed' thing.
Thanks for watching everyone! Subscriptions, likes, and comments are deeply appreciated. We are looking forward to bringing you more banter and insight about some of our favorite films.

My 3 favorite esports personalities in one podcast, I'm spoiled
I was just complaining today that I couldn't find anything to watch and this pops up - thank you gentlemen, always great seeing Rich in the mix
honestly the practical effects were great, I never thought for a second that its was aged. Enjoyable all around
Easily my favourite horror movie. So glad my dad put it on for us to watch one random night, looking forward to this series
Really loving the LFN Culture stuff. I don’t have as much time to pay attention to esports these days but I love y’all as podcast personalities so it’s great to get general pop culture content from y’all.
So excited to see RICH BACK in the regular content. And it’s non esports 👍🏻👍🏻 let’s go
As a 23 year old, this is a very compelling way to encourage me to watch more movies from many genres in different time periods. Thanks guys 🙏
Getting more Thorin and Richard collaborations is always great
Love that you guys are doing this, that observation that monte came up with about the openning was brilliant I havnt caught that!
this was fantastic, really looking forward to the next eps! Especially that Event Horizon ep lmao
This might be the best surprise I've had on RUclips
I've heard 2 of the 4, but The Thing is the perfect start, its so good at what it intended to be
It's honestly mind bogling it took 25 years for this to happen, instant watch.
What a banger idea for a series. Love it. Keep it up boys.

Monte pointing out the foreshadowing of the chess scene is great. I never would have gotten that on my own^^
happy to see this pod come to life after so many years of richard and thoorin talking about having a show about everything but esports. hell yea im in!
Great first episode. Thanks for taking the boring out of a long drive today.

I watched The Thing when I was 7 years old. Maybe the scariest moment of my life.
Loved watching this pilot episode, as someone that doesn't watch movies, hearing you guys talk about them in detail is still very enjoyable, and I might check them out with a couple of friends of mine in the future.
One of my favorite movies of all time. Excited to hear y'all chat about this one
Intro already a banger, lets go super excited for this trio

love it lads
watched it pretty late (just last year), but caught me off guard with how good i felt it was. well executed tension will always hold up
I love the esports stuff of course, but I already know this show will be a gem
Finally people who also don't care about spoilers
Great show. Would find it interesting if you guys discussed the Barbie movie, Oppenheimer would work too.
I've been looking forward to this so much!
good stuff fellas
Really been looking forward to this. Thanks guys!
Love this flick so tense
I'm excited for this to motivate me to watch more movies, love the content!
love this already
