I remember watching fair city every now and then as a kid when my granny put it on the TV. Listening to that last intro music brings me straight back. I'm too young to recall any of the other intros though, but its interesting to see how they've changed over the years regardless.
Wow. I've never watched any soaps, other than occasionally seeing the odd scene when my parents had them on. But for the last few weeks, I've had a tune in my head, and I kept thinking "I think this is the Fair City intro for some reason". Turns out it was the 2006 version.
@@adammaher6601 used to watch this crap as a kid and a teenager but gave up on the show in 2011 , Just load of Soap shite , I’d rather watch American Sci fi (I’m a Sci fi fan)
At least Fair City was much better back then than it is now. It's so miserable and depressing, just like every other programme on the television these days
Great vid, but you're missing one of the variations to the tune, before they adopted the sepia credits they had a rejig of the initial theme, except with an orchestra and epic guitar track, would've been around 1995 or so.
I am always wondering if that couple sitting on the grass(the guy with the elvis hair style) if thet are still togeather, or are they actors, and Id love to see the toddler twins on the swings now. They look so cute.
The theme tune & the opening titles from 1989,1996 & 2008 were quite good. 2005 theme tune was good also but the opening titles where just too Celtic Tiger era & depressing, I can see why they were they were quickly replaced after less than 3 years! There was a different version of the original theme tune introduced for season 2 in 1990 with an electric guitar which lasted until May 1996 (the last year Fair City took a Summer break) , it be great if this was uploaded.
Mark Seale Hi Mark, it's on RUclips, just type in Fair City 1994, unfortunately it's not played in its entirety as it's just advertising the show but would be great if someone uploaded the full version which was used from 1990 - '96.
Mark Seale yes, your correct, the closing credits from what I remember had a couple walking over the Haypenny bridge at sunset , the reworked theme tune as I mentioned was introduced in September 1990 while them closing credits were introduced round bout September 1994, they were short lived as the theme tune & credits were totally revamped two years later in 1996.
I don't care what anyone says about Fair City, I love it, Its my guilty pleasure, and anyway the UK soaps keep coping Fair City story lines,I'v watched since I moved her over 10 years ago.
My favourites are the 1996 and 2006 ones. Because the 1996 one was the very first Fair City title i watched being born in 1997! And also the 2006 theme is really sweet with the music!
1996 & 2005 tunes FTW - better than this present crap spanish guitar theme tune thats been going on for the last couple of years - I like the drum bit at the end title though on the present one.
Anyone watching it now? I am gripped by the Lucy story, I wonder why she is acting like a psycho got Laura's girlfriend to leave her by blackmail, hates Pete and threatened him. When he say the picture of Lucy and her Mother and Lucy then proceeded to hit herself and self harmed herself and blamed Pete as delores walks into the room to split him and Delores up. She is a great actress and the story is good.
@@terminalfrost3645 Bro, I'm a disabled person in the UK and in Ireland you can travel on trains, buses and LUAS for free no matter where you're from in Ireland but in the UK most counties won't let you travel for free off-peak (Before 09:30) which makes a huge impact, some counties won't even allow you to travel on trains, but Northern Ireland is worse as it's all 50 percent off instead of it being free, when I visited Dublin the transportation was CHEAP compared to Manchester where I live which is much more expensive. (Also British food is crap, their breakfast is disgusting and Ireland's is much better)
its weird cause i see some of the cast around town i saw a woman who was on it i dont know her name but she was in her late 40s to 50s and she had short blonde hair and i saw the guy who plays damien when i was signing on in bray

The 1996 opening theme tune was my favourite the 2006 opening theme tune was nice as well!.
i liked the old titles particularly where the young fella hits the ball with the hurley
2005-2008 one was the best. No doubt about it. Love the music, love the way it goes.
As I was born in 2003 i still remember the 2006 one.
Love to see the 2nd or 3rd theme tune be reinstated as the opening credits

The 2006 variant- brings me back! :)
its Gas how none of the places in the video appear in the actual soap lol
Ikr. In the 2006 one it showed a Luas but no Luas appears in the actual episodes

Fair City is an awful TV show by any set of standards.

This needs to be updated
LOVE Fair City! Been watching it since the very first episode!

i think the 3rd ones the best. Love faur city, been watching it since i was 7 years old.
Please stand for dublins national anthem
Second one easily must memorable from 90s
The original 1989 was very cool!
1:05. That's the only Opening that features a Luas
I like the 1996 one :)
Excellent..Oui.
jayses I feel fecking old

The third one was introduced in 2004 I believe, not 2006.
The third opening credits were introduced in Autumn 2005.
@@anothercomment You sure? I always remembered it as changing sometime in 2004.
I'm certain. The third opening credits debut in November 2005.
They really need a new title sequence at this stage.
My favourite was the third one.
the 2019 one to present is better and much shorter than the 2008 one
1:02 That ship in the Distance I think is the Stena Adventurer
1996 and that was 3 years before I was born.
By bad sound quality, do you mean the absolute state of the music?
Would you like a cup of tea?
Oh I can't I'm caffeinated as feck...
Pub then?
Fairly shitty...
1:02 was the best I hate they changed it
The 1989 theme is the best. 1996 theme is too depressing. I like the 2006 theme but the 2008 one has gotten old now.

Barry O'Hanlon was really cute in the early days.
im the kid that throws the ball in the 2008 one
Where was that Hackett's bookies?
The one before the last one is my best!
2008
peter there is closing credits from 1986 on youtube i think they are similar to 1989
Wish they aired this in the UK
me too after moving away from Ireland I regret it everything is better over there, the saps the transport the drink the food etc.
the transport? sinse when has the transport been great in Ireland, and the food for that matter?
Kayleigh Natasha now airing in Scotland
You can watch it on the RTE website in the UK.

Would someone be able to post the fair city closing credits from 1989 thank you
Who's still watching it now? The fire story is class and Luke dies
They seriously need to update /revamp the current style opening. It's very outdated ✔️
the extras in the intros, where are they now?
It's time for new titles and theme I reckon.
There's a seagull losing the run of himself at 1:25.
I think the third one is from 2004 not 2006.
No it's from 2005
Why doesn't this video have the one from 2021?!?!
Maybe because it was uploaded in 2011...
Yes!
haha brings back memories. It is a badly acted show but I admit I watch it and have since the first episode when I was just 6 years old,
@Lionkingonstage Yep! : )
The second one brings back memories of the days when I actually watched this shite haha good aul Fair City :)
its weird cause i see some of the cast around town i saw a woman who was on it i dont know her name but she was in her late 40s to 50s and she had short blonde hair and i saw the guy who plays damien when i was signing on in bray
Number 2
likely actors
Lmao this meant to be the Irish Corrie Emmerdale and Eastenders all in one?
1989 is the best kreygasm
Crap soap but love the 1996 intro
