  • There is always a lot of discussion about what is better, fully armored practice or soft kit/unarmored practice.
In this video I break down the general time requirements and efficiency of each time of practice.

Love this breakdown. I've found it also reduces wear and tear on equipment and helps with losing focus while in kit. Lots of time that helmet goes on and people just fall into fighting habits.

Great video! Any thoughts about half kit practices? We tried steel lowers with soft uppers and weapons, with mixed results.

I'm personally not a big fan. I can see it being useful if you aren't fully kitted or with things like agility drills, but all in all if you are going to take the time to half kit you might as well take the time to full kit.

We pretty much started it for the purpose of agility drills. We found out later that striking and grappling didn't work well in half kit. Messed up our foam weapons pretty badly

What brand or style soft helmet do you guys use? Working on implementing soft kit training into a team out in idaho just not sure where to start.

I have not had as much armor time as I would like and still feel a bit like a cat in a sweater. Are their non combat activities I could do in armor, by myself, to better learn how my body can move in armor and to better acclimate?

Fully getting into kit to do pell work is useful if you don't have anyone to train with. If you only have one or two people to train with then you can do duels or even 2v1 drills.

I have some guys on my team who go on hikes, 6 miles + to acclimate themselves to their armour. Also really good for people coming off of injuries.

if you can't do it out of armor, you cant do it in armor.
