Bought my copy of this today. Had to get my copy to round out the first 2 volumes. I just like the idea of these characters and always looking for new things to add to the omni shelf.
Well now we just need a vol.4 and we should have everything up to what secret wars?

Thanks for all the cool reviews. I finally got up to an era (story arc) of spiderman I didn’t look, but I’m close to carnage so it’s a short era.
ASM 353-358 the 6 part sidekicks revenge series. Was the worst spiderman I read from issue 1 up to now. This includes spectacular, spiderman, web and marvel team up.
I started reading thunderbolts during the start of the Warren Ellis and Mike Deodato run, I sure would like an omnibus of that now-classic arc!

Happy for more Thunderbolts but I’m just waiting for that Ellis run collected in Omni format which I don’t see happening ever though. But got to get this though
I picked up vol 1 and 2 haven't bought this one yet, but I'll keep an eye out for it. Haven't read the first 2 yet so I'm not really in a rush to buy it. but really interested in reading them kind of in order with the rest of my marvel stuff, which means going back and forth between many different Omnibuses.
OMAR I think it would serve omnibus and collected edition buyers better if you could give these reviews at least a week earlier instead of a day or two before or the week of release.
Believe it or not your overviews help us decide whether we will purchase certain omnibuses. And if we had overviews SOONER it would allow us to PRE-ORDER it BEFORE its RELEASE DATE.

I have the first two volumes and can't wait to get my hands on this one. I plan to buy all of the Omnibuses that feature members of the original team. I was on the fence about the Norman Osbourne era, because I'm not a fan of them, but they do include Moonstone & Songbird. I'm completely uninterested in the "Red team." But it looks like Marvel is skipping ahead, past what I call the "Bullshit Thunderbolts" and the next Thunderbolts Omnibus is going to be the Luke Cage era of the team, where most of the original characters come back.
Wait if they did all that experimental stuff and later canceled thunderbolts then does that mean it wasn’t selling or wasn’t that good?

Was this where they stared tieing in some of the Golden Age stuff, or was that in volume 2? - must admit the issues I bought at the time I really enjoyed here. Tom Grummett has always been very under rated (always thought he brings a hint of big John Buscema) and it was great to see other
villains come in (like Blizzard and Speed Demon) and get there share of the limelight. One thing I was NOT happy with, was what you alluded to Omar - how a certain character was moved on! Have only just been happy very recently with their fate, after the release of some new comics.
Might pick this one up I think.
I believe you're referring to stuff that happened in the second omnibus, regarding those Golden Age references, but this is going from memory.

2:32 what’s up with the three missing half covers along the 2nd last row of covers? Printing error? Hiding a spoiler? Mine showed up today and has them too.
Those were the _Civil War_ tie ins. All of the _Civil War_ books had a uniform cover design, with the illustration only taking up the top half of the cover, and the bottom half as a block of colour with the title on it.

Dark reign is after Secret Invasion not Civil War. Ellis only wrote post Civil War.
I believe that entire era will be labeled dark reign. It’s about the only thing you could call that omnibus. Or I guess: Norman and Friends.
In all three thunderbolts omnibus which has the best stories? I hv budget for only one for right now.
The first volume. The initial reveal and following the drama of will they or won’t they get caught made for some different stories at the time when the X-books were not great and the main Marvel heroes busy with Heroes Reborn. The problem with the series as it went on that while the stories were still entertaining, what do you do with the characters that are now heroes that doesn’t make the book just another Avengers book.

@@camilocuba6927 How does the material in Vol 3 compare to Vol 2? I was not really a fan of Nicieza's run, but i know Busiek came back to the book around this time. Is it better?

I loved Thunderbolts volume 1! But I quickly grew to hate volume 2. It felt like just an endless parade of character assassinations. While the sort-of return of Kurt Busiek and the fixing of Mach 1 make the story a little bit tempting.....I don't think I'm willing to dare another trip through Nicieza's writing....
Nicieza had both highs and lows on this book. Certainly, not every choice he made was the best, but in general I thought he tried to spice things up and sometimes it worked out pretty well.
