I'd choose the omega too, it's really heavy (for me it's a good point) but it fits so well your wrist sometimes i freak out thinking i must have lost it or put aside somewhere very squetchy. When u take it on and off there's no way you can pull hair or pinch urself where as with a basic submariner sometimes it does grab a hair, i mean i'm not a fragile guy but if i knew about it i'd have bought a fucking lobster, put it around my wrist, stick a watch on his back and he would have been more gentle than this few thousand dollars watch x) .. personally the biggest choice would be choosing between a GMT 600m, an aqua terra and a spectre... I think i'd take the spectre if i get both the nato and the metal strap
I purchased the Omega PO 8500 in 42mm over the Submariner because I personally prefer the overall aesthetics of the Omega. I dislike the Mercedes hour hand and the cyclops date window. I prefer the arrow hands and overall dial appearance of the PO. My only complaint about the PO is the case thickness. Otherwise it keeps +1 second a day time and IMHO is a stunner. I also have the adjustable clasp on the bracelet which helps with the fit. Either way both are great watches. However, more bang for my buck goes to Omega.
I have a Omega 8500 I think by far the better watch. If you want a good watch which will last you for many years buy the Omega, if you want to impress people by the Rolex.
@@granto6738 which model did you get. I bought a new one back in August. Got that adjustable slide clasp. I had a f on to begin with because I was somehow between sizes. When I took three links out and had clasp on tightest setting it was too slack. But with four links out and clasp on slackest setting it was too tight. I lost 10lbs of weight though and then it fit fine.
My two favourite watch brands. Two beautiful watches, at first sight similar, but not really. Rolex retains value best, no doubt. Steel 904 another plus, build quality is trully excellent. On the other side, Seamaster has technologically better movement, better power reserve, 600 m water proof and the case is somehow sportier with different curves than Submariners. What I don't like about Rolex is that you can see this Submariner on every rich people's wrist. We all know Rolex is the icon and that everybody wants to wear something with great value. For me, Rolex is the number one choice overall. But,to be honest, Omega is a very good brand and no mistake here. Both brands have rich history and value and these two have the best recognition brand value among sports brands. I would probably go with Omega, because of the modern design and updated look. Whatever you decide, congrats and enjoy it.
with the metal detector I found casio vintage from 15 dollars immersed in the sea from who knows how many years. and they still worked. and do you compare the $ 5,000 timepieces?
I’d like to see Rolex do an open case back design on one of their watches. As far as I know they haven’t, but spending some time making that beautiful movement look even more beautiful for show I think would be something really special for Rolex. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do a limited run in the future.
Omega is by far a better watch! (Better mechanism, more modern design, larger, case back, more power reserve, antimagnetic,...) and little less expensive!
I agree. I was ready to purchase an Omega planet ocean, went to an Omega boutique here in California tried it on and to my surprise it was a much larger watch than it looked on pictures and very thick as well. No micro adjustments on the bracelet either. Did not buy it. Next day tried on the Rolex Submariner 116610 and loved it. 904 stainless, 40mm case but wears a bit larger, perfect on my wrist and not to thick. Almost 2 years later I've worn it daily even to work and I do not have an office job. The glidelock is an amazing design and very well engineered. I used it all the time, specially on hot days. Thanks to the ceramic bezel it still looks as new as the day I purchased it and zero scratches. It also does not depreciate as much as Omegas do.
Funny that, exactly the opposite happened to me, tried on a few submariners and didn’t like them at all, tried on a seamaster PO Chrono, absolutely love it.
+Todd Campbell You sir, are a liar. Sorry, but if you prefer the Submariner, just say it from your heart... Because there's no reason in the world that would justify picking the Rolex over the Omega except if you intend to sell it someday. Omega actually has the best movement, best features, waaaay better design etc
How is being larger a benefit? Anyway, the 8500 P.O. is not antimagnetic. It’s got a silicon escapement but that does not make it antimagnetic however it makes it less susceptible to magnetism. The Sub also has a silicon balance spring so that’s also less susceptible. The balance spring is also the most important component when discussing magnetism. Power reserve is mostly overrated unless you have a bunch of watches and no watch winder. At best you can argue that the Omega movement is more complex/interesting and it’s cheaper. All other mentioned arguments are either Ill-informed or subjective (i.e. design, case back, etc) Long story short, both are excellent and comparable in quality and finish. The Rolex is more dressy and wearable but you’re paying the brand name premium. The design might be considered dull but it also goes with pretty much everything. The Omega is cheaper but the design is more outspoken which might appeal to fewer people. It’s also much fatter and has a larger diameter. Both have their respective pros and cons. Buy either, you’ll be a happy camper. It all comes down to personal preference and the budget you’ve got.
Get both if $ is not an issue. Omega is better in all technical aspects, no argument; BUT, brand and image is intangible to measure in $. Sadly this is all Rolex got left.
Not a level playing field. The Submariner Date is on the same playing field as the Seamaster Professional 300. The Planet Ocean is on the same playing field as the Sea-Dweller.
J'ai la même Omega Planet Ocean et maintenant j'attends l'appel de mon revendeur local pour me dire que la Submariner est disponible pour moi et comme ça j'aurai deux légende du monde aquatique...
The Omega is absolutely stunning, hope i'll be able to get an automatic one before i'm thirty. Now i'm spending money on replica ones until i find the perfect watch for me and well it's a hard choice.. maybe the spectre with the metal strap or an aqua terra, i really can't choose. I saw and wear rolex watches (fake and true) well i don't like them, saw the omega 600m (orange with orange rubber strap, what a demon) it fits pretty well my little wrist xD but the aqua terra looks so attractive
Omega is an excellent watch but Rolex is far more superior in quality and workmanship. I take the submariner because of it’s looks, quality, versatility, accuracy and world best glide lock clasp.
@@Mint-cb2vc I have a large wrist also but the time (no pun) of larger faced watches has had its day. In my opinion the 39.5 mm has a more refined look.
If I had to pick one, regardless of present or future price, my heart and head says the Omega.

Fit is terrible on the omega, no clasp adjustments I'm having a big f on with my one wish I got the new model now

5:14 Seriously, who choose the Rolex when you see this ?
I have a couple of Rolex's (not a sub granted) but would absolutely go for the 39.5 PO - just looks amazing.

The Rolex's caseback is stunning.
AR coating does a great job too!
I own both and love them almost equally ;)
Why the music????????
This is a million times better than porn. Awesome. No need for words. Omega for me please
I have both. I like Omega better. Unfortunately, ask any pawn shop, Rolex just fetches higher price. Not that I would sell them, but just the fact.
Earl James I agree with you 💯 %
no contest omega all day at less than half the cost
Cancelling my Rolex sub order
Probably best because there is a 2 Yr wait for a steel sub at the moment
Alan Jackson you can buy them in chrono.
The Planet Ocean is the Submariner killer.
Have both. Have the omega PO GMT 8906. Love the submariner but the omega is absolutely stunning in every way.
PS The Breitling Avenger 2 Seawolf is stunning too and looks beautiful on the wrist.
Which or do you like?
Omega for me
Omega looks superior!
Omega.
