  • This was my gold performance at the 2012 International Qigong Tournament at the Beijing Sports University. I was - as usually at all my wushu jurneys - accompanied only by my daughter, who was 11 years old at that time, and she did great work by chosing a place on the floor for the camera, where other people most likely would not pass by.
The music is the original music for this form (DYYSG 12 postures).
If you live in Vienna and are interested in learning with us, have a look at our Webpage: www.wushuacademy.net.

Thank you very much for your video. I first learnt this particular style of Qi Gong through a Tai Chi class I attended a couple of years ago, and was then looking for demonstrative video to follow and came across your one. I live in Australia but I'm returning to live in Europe (Nederlands) next month. I checked the school out in Vienna. Obviously it has been a long time since the making of your video, but I would be interested to know if you still practising and what other forms you do. Thanks again:-) Keith.

Very beautiful well done; but when a meditation or a healing exercise becomes a sport or a competition, well the point can be missed.

Thank you for your comment. It gives me the possibility to offer some clarification here. Health systems and competition do not have to be mutual exclusive.
The DYYSG system is one of the most frequently used Qigong systems in a medical context. It was designed for self-healing by my teacher Prof. Zhang Guangde and received its own departement at Beijing Sports University, where it underwent medical evaluations. It is true - and I have this from leaders and medical staff of international clinics - that it is customized for medical purposes. I now also use a form of the DYYSG that I have adapted slightly to my needs to keep myself personally fit. The individual forms of the DYYSG address specific muscle groups or organs and can be selected according to the needs of the person. In competition, the ideal form is shown in an optimal round. Breathing, the conduction of the Qi, which is very well recognizeable for Qigong practitioners, the security of the stance, etc. are evaluated. If breathing and Qi are in harmony and the movement is carried out correctly, a harmonious whole is created.
But these movements are also of great value for people who are not able to win in a competition. Yes, this is where its real value lies, because the competition actually only serves as a friendly exchange between the nations and to increase the awareness of the system. It is much more important to expand your own limits, or to maintain your level of mobility and health in old age. It is of most importance to remain in a relaxed state during the whole form. So I agree with you that it would be wrong to see competition as the actual goal of Qigong.
