I just can't tell you how much respect I have for everyone involved in Kevin's rescue! But Jean - you are the man!
There are already two winners in this race regardless of the final position, Kevin and foremost Jean.
What I love about that video (aside from all the emotions and drama of the whole situation) is how it shows the scale of the swell in that ocean when the dinghy comes to pickup Kevin. Also, even Jean’s racing yacht looks tiny in the middle of nowhere. I love that race so much!
In this day and age of so much negative news, negative events, negative behaviour that we hear of, this is such an amazing good news story on so many levels. It restores our hope that out of some pretty dark moments light and goodness will shine through. From the very unfortunate sinking of PRB to Kevin's transfer to the French naval vessel everyone involved has been so amazing and conducted themselves so well every step of the way. Jean and Kevin have just been mesmerizing in everything they have done and all with such humility and a sense of humour. Bless your souls guys, you all are the best. Bon voyage et bonne chance.

An amazing event, sad for Kevin that he lost his boat, but so happy that he was rescued. HUGE respect for Jean le Cam, what a sailor. They obviously got on well together, it's a pity Kevin had to leave but Jean will return to a heroes welcome. A massive well done to VG team and le Marine Nationale, fantastic effort all round, brings a smile to my face every time I think of it. Bien fait a tous, bon voyage a Jean.

Excellent compilation! I have watched all of the “episodes”: Jean Le Cam’s and Marine Nationals ... this is a great combination that tells the story. I am a little sad as I will miss the “Jean and Kevin show”, but on with the race for Jean Le Cam !
Slightly different topic ... there is a Marine Nationale video from the 2016 Vendee Globe (I stumbled across it :) ). The same ship FR732 launches a helicopter to check Armel Tripon (Banque Populaire) and Alex Thomson (Hugo Boss '16 version). My French is not enough to get the conversation ... they were doing their fishing area job? BUT, they got some incredible video of both in the Southern Ocean.
Jean est bien sûr "impayable" mais Kevin Escoffier que je ne connaissais pas a l'air franchement très sympathique. Un gars qui amène de la joie par sa présence. Ca ne m'étonne pas que Jean soit ému de la séparation à la fin.

Many thanks to all involved in bringing Kevin to safety. These amazingly skilled Sailors have an opportunity to race the Vendee Globe only once every 4 years. Don't rob them from that opportunity. Please respect their skills and commitment. They are the one being on open waters risking their lives.
Imagine drivers in 24h of LeMans having to pamper their vehicle.... "Easy on the curve, not too hard on the acceleration... Pfeeew... we made that turn..." Are you kidding me? They're going to rev that engine north of 16K RPM or they won't win at all. Imposing so much restraint to such skilled skippers is borderline Sailor abuse.
As someone said, carbon fiber is so light that there is no justification or real advantage for cutting it too thin. As an example, would you put under-sized breaks in a race car, for additional weight savings? Of course not. It's like removing too much downforce so an F1 car goes faster. You still need that car to stick to the road or you will get someone killed.
Please respect and value Sailor's lives. Respect the sponsors. “To finish first, first you have to finish“: Built stronger boats that finish the race!

At the one minute mark in the video I think Kevin through the new food rations on board Yes We Cam. I was wondering how they were going to transfer the food. You do not want the rib to hit the rigging or the rudders.

Probably a rookie question, but why did he have to jump into the water? Couldn't they maneuver so that he just steps over?
A question of risk, not for the boats that can handle hits (both dinghy and Imoca), but for Kevin. Imagine he falls sudenly between, or get a leg or an arm blocked. Far less dangerous to jump into water, it is an usual procedure for off-shore transboarding.

They do not want to put the two boat together. You could damage the sailboat. Not the hull but it has a bow sprit in front and deck spreaders or out riggers on the side and fragile rudders at the stern. Safer to just jump off.

C’était très beau mais faut pas leur faire honneur à ces abjects personnages, tous ceux de la Marine nationale de surface, dans les airs ou sous les mers, il faut le dire aussi, ils abandonnent quand même lâchement leurs familles, abandonnent même leurs femmes et leurs enfants pendant des mois et des mois alors qu’ils ont pourtant grandement besoin d’eux et de leurs présences, simplement pour gagner trois fois plus de fric que les courageux soldats du feu, que les soldats du territoire, soldat de gendarmerie ou de sentinelle qui tous assurent notre sécurité dans les rues et les villes de France 🇫🇷 ils ne méritent aucune considération et aucun respect mais vraiment que des crachats en pleine gueule, juste ou non ?
