Its cuz they are talking about their previous work and how it connects to their vision and passion for videogames. Not just skyrim appeared, arena and morrowind appeared as well, and fallout 3, and fallout 4.
Not sure if anyone will read this but for me there was a moment in fallout 3... I was like 12 years old and got my hands on the game, faked going to bed and was playing all night wandering through the wasteland listening to the radio and finding myself more immersed than anything I have experienced before, it was like I was exploring a real world somewhere else, a complete break from reality. I will never forget that feeling.
I guess, in the same sense a short comic at the back of a magazine can be interesting. I'd still pale in comparison to an actual book though. And in this analogy, that book would be written by Obsidian when they made New Vegas
@@simple-commentator-not-rea7345 dude not even close. New Vegas is half the game Skyrim is and that’s coming from someone who walked into both expecting to love fallout.
@@simple-commentator-not-rea7345 Here comes the guy who worships Obsidian just because they made New Vegas. Guess what Bethesda also made Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim (a game that has a massive impact on the whole gaming industry). I'd mention Fallout 4 but you guys are crazy about it. Remember when they said Outer Worlds is Fallout 4 killer? Good times. It's obvious that you're on the Obsidian Dickriders Bandwagon. Get some life.
I love how he talked about the step out moment. I can’t wait to see Star field cause nothing is prettier then space. I remember playing Skyrim and stepping out of bleak falls barrow and seeing the northern lights for the first time. That’s when I fell in love with the game
@@mattdaniels9464 Yeah, that's what I'm guessing. I just hope it really does feel vast and inspiring again. Fallout 4 didn't really recreate that feeling at all for me and felt like such a step down from previous games that I really hope they nail it this time.
@@infasis I can kinda agree about the "step out" moment on Fallout 4, and I think New Vegas moment was among the best. FO4 was pretty good, but I was more hyped to get out and get exploring. What was cool about FO4 was the prewar start, to vault, and then out to the wasteland.
4:30 That's one of the mayor "wow" that i had when i played Morrowind, the fact that you can take a single coin from a table, a cup, bread, everything was touchable... that blow my mind, i still remember. And the fact that this feature were still developed in the other games of bethesda, other EOS, other fallouts... Keep going whit that philosophy!!
IM THE MAYOR AFTER ALL No but for real, Ive always loved that element of Bethesda games, though Ive always wondered to what degree its hamstringed them into making relatively smaller scale environs i.e. If you want every object to be interactable, then it's basically impossible to make Whiterun or Diamond City on the scale of Novigrad or St. Denis, for example. Sometimes I wonder if maybe they'd be better off sacrificing SOME of that interactivity in place of a larger world- make 50% of objects interactive, perhaps. It seems like a tradeoff
@@julianmarx2002 That's not the only reason their games tend towards smaller towns than ones like Novigrad or St. Denis. In Bethesda games every building is enterable and has things going on inside of it, an NPC lives or works there, and it's different from any other building. As well as nearly every NPC in the city having a name they all have a home or somewhere where they go to sleep at night, and a schedule for how they spend their day. You can have conversations with each of them and influence their lives in some way through quests or even permanently kill them. To have that on the scale of St. Denis just isn't possible and I'm fine with that because it's one of the major things that makes their games unique and worth playing.
@@julianmarx2002 it's a taste thing i guess, a personal taste. I love the Witcher 3, but i prefer to have the hability of take a bucket and put on some npc head, and then a cup and try to hit It with an arrow, than have a map the size of novingrad. In the Witcher i can see the womens washing clothes, but i can't interact with them, i can't destroy or move the clothes, they are fixed to the map and that takes the "realism" away from my character, It reminds me that i'm not there, i'm in a Game. Also the last Assassins Creed that i played was the Odyssey, and the map was huge, but again... I can't do whatever i want (when i am bored). I can't put a pot in some npc path and watch their "reaction" cause the pots are only breakable (?). And that takes me away from that world. Thats is what i more like from skirym, i can do almost anything with anything (items, not infrastructure, obiously) PS: English is not my first language and too lazy to use google, so errors were made. @@ShinyFoot Yeah I'll always want detail and complexity over scale. Plenty of games have come out with far too big a scale and not enough complexity recently, like AC odyssey and origins.

Seeing Bethesda recognize the importance of modding and our part that we played in extending the games' lifespan, even for a second, makes me feel hopeful for the future for multiple of upcoming games and our collaboration with the developers. So excited for Starfield and ES6.
Bethesda has always been the best developer when it comes to modding. They even allowed mods with out of game assets on console. Is there a single game dev that lets console users install mods?
You have no idea what you're talking about. Beth has done everything they can to monitize DLC and Mods and the backlash from the community has been firm and committed against this. Step Out moments are arguably one of the coolest things I enjoy in both games and movies...just that moment of stepping out into a completely new and breathtaking world is enough to get me excited for the future potentials. People may generally agree that New Vegas is the better Fallout game, but I haven't really encountered a big step-out moment in that game quite like Fallout 3's prologue that saw us step out of a vault after many years into a big and giant wasteland ripe for exploration!
I feel like Bethesda is great, if not the best at that step-out moment, felt it heavy in both oblivion and Skyrim, just this whole world to explore, right infront of you
This is why New Vegas is incredibly overrated to me. It's just a reskin of 3 without any of those monumental defining moments you would expect from a life-changing game.
@@a_single_white_female To be fair, I think compared to Fallout 3, New Vegas had a bit more things going for it, like improved shooter mechanics and generally better writing.

I've been wanting a space game like this for many years. Starfield is the only game I'm excited about these days. Best wishes Bethesda. I hope y'all knock it out of the park.
Those "step out" moments are always great in the other games, and I'm pretty sure I understand why he said there's two of them. One is likely stepping out onto a planet's surface, seeing the landscape open up in front of you, just like stepping out of the Vaults and Doc Mitchell's house in Fallout. The other will be breaking through the atmosphere and seeing the vast emptiness of space, maybe a moon, space station, or gateway of some sort, or maybe literally nothing but a field of stars.
Based on the discussion in the video, and concept art, and the trailer about the settled worlds, I have a suspicion both step outs will be bigger than that. I think the first will be something like getting off-planet and being able to explore the settled worlds. The second will be something that lets you get out of the settled worlds and really go where no one has gone before.
Yes I thought of this also. They'll probly have a "step out" scene when first fire up your ship. Music and all like they always do. And a second one for when you land on a planet and step out for the first time
Really 3 things that matter most to me. 1. Is the story actually good. Open worlds and world building has always been a strength, but moment to moment storytelling has never really been, and I hope they can actually tell a good story this time. 2. Does the game work? How many weird bugs and gameplay decisions will need to be fixed by the modding community before the game is in a truly playable state? And how long will that take? 3. How much will they fleece us with micro's and paid mods. We know that they will to some extent, they have shown over the last 5 years that they are going to try to squeeze us for every dime they can, so how ruthless are they going to be with this game in terms of monetization. Until then, just like with any game these days, definitely waiting until launch day full reviews and details on these 3 issues. DO. NOT. PREORDER.
@@thomashoughton7392 Because they're discussing how that game that has "zero relevance" affects the way they develop their new projects, including Starfield.
I hope we will be able to land in real time without any loading on planets with your spaceship and not have to go though a loading like The Outer Worlds
I still remember the first time I saw Skyrim. It was on Attack of the Show on G4, a year or two before it was gonna release. There was a guy talking about it, and he showed the iconic image of the Dovahkin looking out over the mountains. He pointed to a mountain way out in the distance and said, "You can climb that mountain!" And it just seemed so crazy to me, ahaha. I'd mostly played games like Pokemon or games where you just beat levels. Nothing with a full on open world to explore. I've played several BGS games since then but they still give me that same awe. I can't wait for Starfield!
Skyrim was so ahead of its time. VS other games. I was completely blown away by the graphics at that time. The games dialogue. How it felt like everything you did mattered. Every choice you made. It mattered. The world seemed so huge. I was lost in that game for weeks. I'd go from a large dense forest. To lost in a blizzard at night. Truly incredible game. I miss that euphoria.
I think the first step will be on the planet where you start the game, then the second step will be your moment leaving the ship on a different planet for the first time
1st step out moment: planet at the start of the game. 2nd step out moment: through the alien wormhole device, into the "Starfield". If that sounds intriguing, watch some of the detailed breakdown videos of the Starfield trailer. There are blueprints of an unknown alien device that looks like a gateway, and it needs some artifacts to activate it (simplifying). The beginning goal is likely to get it operational, then the rest of the game begins.
The ''step out'' scene he talks about is such a great bethesda trademark. The moment the prologue is over and the entire world is open for you to go anywhere.
This looks like a space game that will finally give us that feeling of serenity and wonder to compliment the epic battles. The crackly voice of the radio transmission, the ambiance of a barren rocky landscape under a night's sky, the mundane details like the labeling on the food packages... everything about this game footage and the way these folks talk about it makes me believe that this could be one of the most immersive and convincing worlds ever built into a video game. If Starfield is released before the cutoff date for the game awards, and it's joined by BOTW 2 to go along with Elden Ring, Horizon: Forbidden West, and whatever surprises the industry has in store for us, this might end up being one of the most stacked GOTY battles we've ever seen.
No, that's 2023 lol. A lot of games got delayed out of 2022. Nonetheless, 2023 will definitely be the year you described. With Starfield, Spiderman 2, Zelda, Resi 4 Remake, and a bunch of other games, 2023 really will be the battle of GOTY contenders.
Sounds like they're throwing the kitchen sink at the immersion & world-building factors, and that can only be a good thing. Nervous of being excited for any game, let alone a Bethesda one, but let's say I'm cautiously very optimistic at this point.
Todd Howard did an AMA on reddit a few weeks ago and said that the are including backgrounds for your characters you can choose from to help give your person a Backstory. This kind of role-playing makes me super excited!
@@kosmicmarxman443 Hmm, that's less good. I'd rather make my own character backstory than choose from a bunch of cookie-cutter ones I don't care about. But let's see.
Tod Howard is my favorite game director of all time for one simple reason: He truly understands what makes a game great. It's not about what you do. It's about how you FEEL doing it. High hopes for this game.
People joke about bethesda games for them being full of bugs and "it just works" but at their core, when you really look at the games, no expierence is like it. They really capture the fantasy setting and being transported to another world. Todd def knows what a fantasy setting feels like, and im sure starfield will deliver that too.
Set aside the excitement of what the game might end up being and how talented these people are, why make this video in this format. It is so cringy. I am disappointed in Todd, I thought he was a down-to-earth person.
I can't put into words the feeling when I first launched morrowind, and I managed to get this state every time I launched a new game from bethesda studio. I believe that this time I will be shocked. as a fan, there is only one request to add Russian localization of voice acting to the game #RussianVoiceoverinStarfield #РусскаяОзвучкавStarfield
In the gameplay showcase, one of the planets is named after Yuri Gagarin. No doubt Bethesda will pay tremendous respect to the brave Cosmonauts who pioneered space travel.
"I like to say that Starfield has two step-out moments." ooooooh okay so I'm guessing one revealing the open world of a planet, and one revealing the space-travel aspect of the game and the amount of planets you can visit
I'm thinking one after the "tutorial" section and one that involves a big piece of the story. Probably about a huge breakthrough discovery which seems to be the point of the story
Ah, man. This is a cool log and the concept art pieces give off a really interesting atmosphere. Love that kind of '70s NASA-aesthetic sci-fi, it reminds me of the Traveller tabletop RPG. I'm just so hopeful about Starfield !
I do dig thw realiam they went with for the direction. Very relatable to our current space tech, and that seems to draw one in. NMS was amazing fun, too: but felt (almost too!) cartoony every playthrough. Elite felt real, but then has its cartoony approach with ships/etc., and then they went too real...space was just so empty feeling lol. It's grind was a joke unless you did exploits, as well. Then when you compare its 'realism' to actual space, they fell short. Go all out or not! Eve Online nailed space futurism to a level no other game can ever accomplish, nor do I expect. But it deserves an honorable mention for allowing the human element in our current state to truly show through: greed and destruction. It makes one realize how we do not yet deserve space as a species, nor the universe, quite yet. But Starfield has everything I have been hoping for in a space game (so far that I have seen!), for so long: and it is almost a cold invitation to play, the aesthetic, they went with. I am not upset, yet (hopefully at all). Then again with even CDPR falling short, it is not hard to curb enthusiasm for games as of late. So I am approaching this with hope, but open to utter disaster, as it seems to be a hidden genre lately in game development.
@@Dana-cb7vk Having seen a few videos, the atmosphere created by so many different æsthetic elements is powerful. They drew from the era of classic sci-fi (1960s-1980s) and built up a world that _felt_ real, that _felt_ lived-in, that wasn't a 'cartoony' (interesting word choice there) 'oh, hey, here's a cool thing, here's another cool thing, here's another cool thing.' It comes across as a place where stories can happen, not just a 'playground for game adventurers.' If this does well, Bethesda has mastered their craft.
I cant lie, I'm genuinely hyped for this. Exploration is what Bethesda Games Studios are best at and they are tackling my favourite genre. Special shoutout to games like Elite:Dangerous and Star Citizen for showing the industry that there is a massive market for this kind of niche. Seeing a lot of inspiration from these games.
I would honestly not be playing games today if we didn't have games like FALLOUT 3 & Skyrim. Bethesda's games are truly an experience I will always cherish. And looking forward to getting more of that experience within the stars.
This video highlights what I believe is the key to Bethesda's continued success: The willingness to walk away from a finished project and "start over" and ask 'what do we want to create next?' They are not gamemakers - they are worldbuilders and storytellers.
5:56 all of the fantasy games have fantastic visuals because that's what the developers envisioned purely from imagination. But when you derive something that is rooted in reality, you get something that is not only beautiful but resonates in the fabric of your being, and it can inspire you to set out pursuing it. People consistently replay Skyrim daily because they enjoy the game and also the mods, so yeah they’re releasing a game that literally nobody has to buy.

Starfield will have some similar "Space Sim." elements, however Starfield's major focus is being a big, epic single player RPG. I doubt that Starfield can pull off the same level of immersion and freedom of Star Citizen. It will feel similar to Outer Worlds with loading screens between locations and restricted level design.
@@hansyolo9649 This is an interesting question. Bethesda is definitely not known for loading screens or restricted level design in their games, unlike Bioware for instance. It will be interesting to see how they handle it, but I have a feeling there won't be noticeable loading screens. Loading may be hidden by things like hyperspace travel though.
@@bullitthead7853 Most dungeons in Skyrim are separate levels, interiors in Fallout 4 are separated by loading screens, so is Megaton in Fallou 3 or Diamond City in 4. Loading screens everywhere. It shows you how they put a lot of thought into the whole universe of the games and not just simply create a world, no they create a history, guns, suits, the political histories, kids toys, the technology, the history of the planets and settled systems, they take a lot of time making their universes feel like a real place.

A good piece of advice: don't try to visualize what your experience might be when the game comes out. You will only be disappointed when you can't do that. Just let the experiences happen organically when you do eventually play the game
Todd is absolutely right about giving player's freedom..To let us play how we want, not how others want. I think that's the main reason what made Skyrim so popular...
The "Breakout Moment" in Fallout 4 was actually one of my favorite parts of that game... that, and of course the fact that we could finally CLOSE the Vault Door too while we're inside. :P
I'm looking forward to an immersive RPG again. Nothing has really scratched the itch that Skyrim did. It amazes me how little RPG'S have grown in immersive mechanics. You'd think that would always be one of the first things an RPG aims to do. But games like cyberpunk 2077 didn't have much immersion. They just have stats. Skyrim and Fallout make the whole world touchable. The fact you can pick up and move food is just unique to Bethesda. You can touch all the items in their games. It's a true sandbox where you can mentally place yourself into that world and feel like you're there. It's not all action. It can be peaceful. There are secrets everywhere that you can only find in the books on the tables in that game. No other developer does that as well as Bethesda. I think Fallout 76 failed because it didn't feel immersive. The world felt disconnected from itself. But I think that this game won't do that. It's pretty impossible to make an immersive multiplayer game. Other players will pull your right of the world and remind you you're in a video game.
I know what you mean: I'm currently playing the Mass Effect remasters, and they have a pretty consistent pace. Unlike Bethesda games or something like the Witcher 3, there's not a lot of exploration or downtime between combat encounters. Skyrim, in many aspects, almost feels like a walking sim sometimes
@@fietehermans9903 the most immersive game I've ever played was Morrowind. That game is a walking sim. Unfortunately it doesn't hold up well in terms of game play due to RNG combat system. But it also doesn't explain anything to you which makes the exploration and discovery of mechanics fun. Some games that have depth often dump everything on you instead of hiding those mechanics in natural game play. I often lose interest in games that feel like homework to learn. Morrowind hides everything and let's you figure out stuff on your own as you discover it. There isn't a mountain of menus with pages of directions on how to use the mechanics of the game. That may sound tedious, but if it's done right, figuring that stuff out can feel super rewarding and immersive. It's kind of like how it would feel to actually be there. Oblivion and Skyrim streamlined much of this stuff, but still doesn't over explain things. It lets you mess around and make your own mistakes in a great sandbox where you naturally try things that interest you and learn how they work. That's what I'm missing in games at the moment. I hope Starfield does some of this.
@@FirstSkilletFan I must admit I've never been able to get into Morrowind. I first tried it around 2014, after I had fallen in love with Skyrim, but found it rather tedious. Morrowind's environment was designed to be a bit unpleasant, and combined with the aged graphics, I don't find it an appealing place to explore. That being said, I can understand wny so many people love it, since it is so alien, and all the geography and architecture are incomparable to other fantasy settings. In many ways, it already feels kind of sci-fi
Honestly, a lot of this is what I really want to hear, if this is true as they say it is, then this game should be a versatile platform for the player improvising their own role in the setting, and modding the hell out of it to expand, tweak and overhaul it. Or at least that's what I hope they mean by it, it really is what makes the Bethesda games special for me, the ability to pool community resources to build a greater game, the way you chose to, and to make changes of your own. If this game is really going to go out of its way to enable and promote that, then I may have a lot of fun possibilities to look forward to.
I do believe this is the case. However, I feel like based on what BGS has said about Starfield's focus "Back to their roots" by "Going back to doing things they did in their RPGs long ago" as well as "Choosing a background/origin for your character", that they also mean it in the sense of Starfield being focused on being an epic in-depth RPG experience rooted in more old-school BGS RPG design, with a significant focus on exploration. Also, we know that inspirations for Starfield come from the classic tabletop RPG "Traveler" as well as the "Starflight" series. Todd and one of BGS' longtime Senior Designers/Writers Alan Nanes had expressed a desire to make a "dream game" which would be a modern fully realized take on the classic Starflight RPGs from the 80's. Starfield is going to go far beyond what most people think IMHO.
I'm a person that has always loved RPGs but no other rpg games (except for the Witcher 3) has hit the right spot such as the Bethesda ones , you feel like you are in the world and they are just plain fun to play and as a person who is currently in college and trying to get a degree in game design Bethesda game studios is one of my top options .
As much as I'm looking forward to Starfield, I cant wait to see what new tech and motivation will do for Elder Scrolls 6. I truelly hope that Bathesda didn't brush off their battle scars from fallout 76 and instead decided to wear them as a reminder of how it can go wrong. I believe in this studio and always have but dont get complacent and always ask "what more can we do for this title".
Watching the sunsets in Oblivion and then later in Skyrim, with the ambient soundtrack, was just so immerse and enjoyable. As a big sci-fi book reader and fan, I'm very much looking forward to this. I can only imagine the sunsets on other worlds :)
Bethesda games might not be a technical masterpieces and are always a bit behind competition in some areas but thier world building and story telling is just top notch. I really enjoyed thier every game I played since oblivion and thanks to thier amazing mod support each gave me houndreds hours of entertainement.
They're "behind" because the way we think of games is limited and overemphasizes tech. They're leaps and bounds ahead of everyone in terms of immersion.
I played Morrowind and Oblivion *when they first launched* and I'll tell you what: Nothing looked as good as those games did at the time. Oblivion was graphically cutting-edge in 2006...a truly breathtaking experience. I would agree that the stunted abilities of subsequent consoles, coupled with modest engine iteration, led to some visually 'safe' games (Skyrim and FO4), but keep in mind that Howard has stated this is their biggest engine overhaul since Oblivion...that kinda speaks for itself!
Look, I've been a gamer for 40years and games are a Huge part of my life and I love experiencing new worlds and talking about videogames, but there has never been a time that when asked what I did that day I would even remotely have the balls to say " I saved the world!... In my video-game..."
#RussianVoiceoverStarfield I can't believe the fact that Xbox and Bethesda marketers don't understand that the lack of Russian voice acting can push away from buying the game the usual norms that have gone to PLAY and not READ
Adding Russian voices is a task that takes a lot of time and frankly isn’t as important as other features in the game. It would be nice but I don’t think they have that time or as a priority
"What'd you do today?" "I saved the world." Hearing that made me tear up a bit. Because videogames have always been my escape. I've been suffering through heavy depression these last few years, and it's been a struggle to enjoy games lately. But, in these last few weeks, I got a Series X and downloaded Skyrim just to "check out" the updates. And honestly, it made me emotional. Being able to go back and relive the happiness I felt 10 years ago, and also experience how beautiful a game like Skyrim is (I consider it up there with Red Dead Redemption II) and the music, how timeless that is. Despite the memes, and criticism, Bethesda really does create amazing stories and worlds. I can't wait for Starfield.
Whats wrong with english? Easy to understand language? Why do you need russian voice over im estonian only game i have ever heard estonian voice over was in world of tanks and it was weird as fuck i think its much more enjoyeble to hear game in english its less weird does it really make game less enjoyeble?
I just started skyrim again I'm 10 hours in and I am still in love more than ever its just ridiculously beautiful and feel like your in a world not a game ❤
"Just watching the World go by!" is actually one of my favourite things to do in an expansive game-world. For the last 7 years my go to for that experience & much more besides, has been ESO but sci-fi is my true love and having my favourite developer now expanding into that genre,is a bit of a dream come true for me! 👏👌👍
When you first leave the vault in fallout 4 and you see the new world for the first time..... that’s a step out moment I’ll never forget, even now when I start a new save it still gets me excited
There were times in Fallout 4, and even more so in Fallout 76, where I just had to stop for a moment and enjoy the beauty of my surroundings. Can't wait to see what Starfield has to show us.
I have a lot of hype for this, and can't wait to see more of it, and to play it! As someone who's always liked sci fi, it'll be a nice change of pace for something grounded in realism, with bits and pieces of fantasy sci fi
Mass Effect is a mediocre series with each entry worse than the previous one, so I hope Starfield surpasses it with a wide margin if a comparison has to be made.
@@babyjiren9676 mediocre? no other game in the genre comes close. All 3 of the original trilogy games are phenomenal compared to almost any other rpg ever. Saying Starfield could be as good as mass effect is a huge compliment.

And the fact that this feature were still developed in the other games of bethesda, other EOS, other fallouts... Keep going whit that philosophy!!
IM THE MAYOR AFTER ALL
No but for real, Ive always loved that element of Bethesda games, though Ive always wondered to what degree its hamstringed them into making relatively smaller scale environs i.e.
Thats is what i more like from skirym, i can do almost anything with anything (items, not infrastructure, obiously)

Oblivion’s “step out moment” was the top gaming moment of my childhood
Those "step out" moments are always great in the other games, and I'm pretty sure I understand why he said there's two of them. One is likely stepping out onto a planet's surface, seeing the landscape open up in front of you, just like stepping out of the Vaults and Doc Mitchell's house in Fallout. The other will be breaking through the atmosphere and seeing the vast emptiness of space, maybe a moon, space station, or gateway of some sort, or maybe literally nothing but a field of stars.
Yep that's exactly what i was thinking too.
that makes a lot of sense!
Same thought.
And a second one for when you land on a planet and step out for the first time
Crossing my fingers on this one.

Awesome story
Skyrim was so ahead of its time. VS other games. I was completely blown away by the graphics at that time. The games dialogue. How it felt like everything you did mattered. Every choice you made. It mattered. The world seemed so huge. I was lost in that game for weeks. I'd go from a large dense forest. To lost in a blizzard at night. Truly incredible game. I miss that euphoria.
The "two step out moments" has me so excited if they're anything close to exiting Vault 101
Maybe it's first stepping outside from where ever you start the game
And first getting off a planet and your ship getting into space
Also hey Matty

Stepping out of the vault in FO4 was an intense moment for me !
(FO4 had weaknesses, but I was quite immersed for hundreds of hours!)

I believe that this time I will be shocked. as a fan, there is only one request to add Russian localization of voice acting to the game

Russians have added so much to space as a country, I really hope they do as well.

I'm thinking one after the "tutorial" section and one that involves a big piece of the story. Probably about a huge breakthrough discovery which seems to be the point of the story
Or when you first see the Normandy
Ah, man. This is a cool log and the concept art pieces give off a really interesting atmosphere. Love that kind of '70s NASA-aesthetic sci-fi, it reminds me of the Traveller tabletop RPG. I'm just so hopeful about Starfield !
With a little cyberpunk and star trek thrown in for good measure.
Todd Howard has mentioned playing Traveller before. It's definitely an influence on Starfield.
yeah, keeping some pieces retro/current and not going 100% sci fi-futuristic is a nice touch
Love the design aesthetic they made for Starfield. The logo, colors, shapes.
Yeah he sure was passionate with fallout 76
I'd say he's alot more passionate about selling games than making them considering how many times Skyrim's been resold.
Considering Skyrim being resold is almost completely free each time for those who actually own the game I’ve literally had every copy of Skyrim and only had to buy two the new one was a £15 upgrade and my first legendary edition gave me the others for free, so that sounds dumb lol, also yeah 76 was a fall through but they still took the time to fix the game as much as they could, they tried something that didn’t work out, they expected people to enjoy a no npc world and role play and do the story for them self but it was severely lacking and got deservingly to obliterated by the fan base for it, they took the feed back and stayed with 76 doing what they can to make people happy, most studios would have just left the community playing the released version. People consistently replay Skyrim daily because they enjoy the game and also the mods, so yeah they’re releasing a game that literally nobody has to buy.

Ive played star citizen for around a year now and I absolutely love the realism, the way you manage your ship and just the ability to fly and explore wherever you want. If this has around the same aim at realism and exploration its going to be one of my top games of the decade, its right up my alley.
Starfield will have some similar "Space Sim." elements, however Starfield's major focus is being a big, epic single player RPG. Though there is good reason Starfield has a very similar art style to Star Citizen, because Star Citizen's Senior Concept Artist and Art Director, has been working at Bethesda on Starfield in the same roles that they worked on Star Citizen. (Senior Concept Artist and Art Director.
Having seamless travel between planet surfaces to space and vice versa is difficult but it is doable.
Of course it's difficult but doable to traverse between planets without a single loading screen, with actual space between the planets but Bethesda probably won't put the effort into that 'cause it needs a massive engine overhaul.

CONSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
I know it's not an fpp but have you tried Divinity 2? That game is one hell of an RPG and definitely stands in top 1 games alongside Skyrim for me
I know what you mean: I'm currently playing the Mass Effect remasters, and they have a pretty consistent pace.
@@rothen6369 I've never really gotten into CRPG. But I may have to try it.

STARFIELD is going to rock the game industry.
How can Bethesda games be "behind" when the gameplay in them is still top notch?
I played Morrowind and Oblivion *when they first launched* and I'll tell you what: Nothing looked as good as those games did at the time. Oblivion was graphically cutting-edge in 2006...a truly breathtaking experience. I would agree that the stunted abilities of subsequent consoles, coupled with modest engine iteration, led to some visually 'safe' games (Skyrim and FO4), but keep in mind that Howard has stated this is their biggest engine overhaul since Oblivion...that kinda speaks for itself!
