Think I'll go peel an apple, with a knife.

I think this gentleman was misinformed. He mentions not everyone would use this manual apple peeler in their home on a regular basis back "in the day". I need to say this is a complete untruth. Domestic women would have used this daily in the kitchen to help prepare pies, tarts, preserves etc. I have an 1800's apple peeler similar to this one in the video and it's been used in my family for multiple generations. Peeling bushels of apples for pies, freezing or saucing is made a lot easier with this little gem as well. Starfrit plastic peelers have never lasted as long as these, and I'm pretty sure there are antique peelers still used to this day in numerous other homes across the country.

Also useful - still! - for peeling potatoes. My grandmother used her cast iron peeler every day to feed the family

traded part of her family history for a nice lunch. sad. imagine being her family watching this down the road and seeing that's what happened to a nice heirloom

History channel should now merge with Pawn Stars instead, after making Pawn Stars a separate youtube channel
