Thank you so much for showing this. I accidentally pushed the lid further out and was panicking. Your video really helped me close the lid. I really appreciate it.
Thank you for another great video Duane. I have an SM9 that was my great grandfathers. Luckily he was like me and took perfect care of his possessions, and always kept it well cleaned and in its travel case. Fantastic typewriter, and my favorite manual typewriter.
Me again -- your video helped me figure out that ribbon wasn't threaded between those two goal-posts or whatever. Typewriter now working and just knocked-out a thank you note to a friend on it! Thanks again.
Thanks, Duane for the video. The SM9 that I had you service did not have those prongs that the ribbon goes through and that reverses the direction of the ribbon. The forks that are there are so close to each end of the ribbon that it's a pain to work the reverse. It certainly did not reverse the ribbon automatically. It is also a messy job to have to do it.
Hi Duane, thank you so much for your informative videos. They’ve really helped me troubleshoot some issues I’m having. I just acquired an SM9 that appears to have the hinges forced up past the locking point. They’re bent to a nearly 90 degree angle now. Would you advise to leave them as is or is it safe to bend them back?
Yes thanks for the video. Looking specifically on the ribbon reverse for the Olympia SF De Luxe, which is slightly different than the SM-9... where is the ribbon reverse lever on the SF?
I don't understand how to put my ribbon in ): I know this sounds like the most basic and probably silly thing...but I just bought new ribbon for my model (same Olympia) The spools came stuck together in this way, and I don't understand the first step in getting the start to put on the typewriter.
Well I don't know what I can do to help you. We have same ribbon in video for sale here @ Phoenixtypewriter.com Amazon just sells cheap Chinese universal one-size-fits-all , We sell REAL typewriter ribbons, made in USA
@@phoenixtypewriter2136 Thank you for the reply :) I did all those steps. It's the lever i can't get off haha. Tryed wiggling it etc but it's preventing taking the side panel off the carriage.

Omg. I just bought this type writer today. This is a life saver!!!

Great video. Have an issue with my SM-9 not reversing and now at least have something to check. Thanks for taking the time to make this.

I just bought an SM9 in great shape. Do you have any other videos featuring this model?

Without having a SF to look at, I don't know, and I don't remember. You can go to the facebook typewriter groups, they might know.

Do you have any videos for an Olympia SG 1969s typewriter? We’re trying to figure out how to change the ribbon and the casing isn’t lifting up.
No, lid should just pull completely off, trouble is the 50 year old rubber grommets get hard making is harder to pull lid off.
The effectiveness of learning typing
Do you have any idea how to take the left hand side panel off around the return lever?
I don't recall without looking, but seems like it was, remove knob, remove screws, remove cover.
