- I own nothing in this video, all the credits goes to Led Zeppelin.
lyrics:
Ah, ah.
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.
Hammer of the gods, will drive our ships to new land.
To fight the hordes, and sing and cry.
Valhalla I am coming.
Always sweep with, with threshing oar.
Our only goal will be the western shore.
Ah, ah.
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.
How soft your fields so green. Can whisper tales of gore.
Of how we calmed the tides of war. We are your over Lords.
Always sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.
So now you'd better stop, and rebuild all your ruins.
For peace and trust can win the day, despite of all your losing.
Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh
Ooh. Ah.
Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh.
Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh.
One of the greatest songs ever created. It's power and intensity have not faded at all in the decades since it was realised. The band in top form.
I don't think there are many songs that have aged quite as well as this one has. A true musical masterpiece.
"We come from the land of the ice and snow" ICONIC.
Greatest band ever. And one of the greatest songs ever.
One of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs. Love the percussion in this.
Still a bad ass song 40+ years later... Valhalla I am coming
try 50 .....for me
Yes indeed
“Over seas with threshing oar, our only goal will be the western shore” such an epic line. Indeed Valhalla I am coming
After all these years of singing to this song while it played on the radio, and I finally find out what he saying.
Supposedly this song is a tongue in cheek joke, but also consider that Jimmy was very fascinated by the Vikings at this time and I don't have the quote but he's been on the record saying he used to peer out back of his house and imagine a Viking invasion and battle.
Bo Horn Listen to Song of the Shieldwall, a midieval piece about defending England from vikings. It's pretty moving and has some snarky lines, like "if they want our land, we will give each of them six feet." and such.
he was also a satanist
Bo Horn Robert wrote the lyrics. He was very into mythology and such. Mainly Tolkien
DozyProductions He wasn't actually calm down Alex Jones
would you like some more LSD Jimmy?! lol
What a fucking masterpiece
Christopher Bell Your comment's fucking awesome, and I agree :) lmao
brilliant
YEAHH
@@MariThePoet THOR: Ragnarok Brought me here
Never well more said !
Robert's voice was so crystal clear in those days.
@khuddle, Before he got nodes on his vocal cords, I believe. I liked 3/4ths of Presence. His voice is lower than LZ.4 or even House's Of the Holy. Off topic but HofNowhere, Candy Story, I like the tone of the vocals. I get your point though.
Led Zeppelin the only band that can release an amazing song as a joke
THE KNIGHTS WHO SAY NI! blink 182
this was a JOKE????
The only thing decent about blink 182 was their utilization of Janine Lindemulder on one of their album covers.
Masterpiece beyond time.
John Bonham.....A true power house of a drummer, feel the beat and sheer energy....
This is my favorite led Zeppelin song ever
In Norse mythology , Valhalla is a majestic enormous hall located in Asgard, ruled over by the god Odin. Chosen by Odin, half of those who die in combat travel to Valhalla upon death.
and the Valkyries would take a them to Valhalla, right?
They got their own world. Warriors are proud. And the distinctions between male and female ones is H U G E.
Zeppelin refer to Mythology in their music at times, most people don't make that connection and when people do make that connection they don't get it. Its all Pages thinking and giving birth to the feel of his music.
"Ramble On" was heavily influenced by Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.
Fuck yes it was, Ray Duncan!! :) I love that song, and Led Zeppelin :) That song feels like it's from The Lord of the Rings :)

lyrics
If ever the world needed back the Asgardians it is now. Come back! Save us!
James Foster even the crusades.
I just came from the new Thor trailer!!
How does this relate to asgaurdians if the trailer was released yesterday?
Read the lyrics. The narrator is clearly a Viking. That's how it relates.
@FaZecod4Jev, it's the percussion that you hear in the Thor trailer.
BLOWS MY MIND EVERY TIME I HEAR IT
Coming from someone who doesn't listen to much rock n roll....this has me jumping stupidly hell yeah
rock on dude

I'll have to agree even though I'm not into zeppelin too much.👍🏻🇬🇧💯 I'm more of a pink Floyd sycophant...lol..but yea mate this song and album is a masterpiece, my favourite. Cheers from Manchester England.👊🏻

This song 🎵 was a perfect fit for Thor.
thank you Doc...OBTW love the version you posted earlier.
I came here cause this worker in Lowe's was playing this song on a speaker they were advertising and I liked it. both the speaker and the song that is.
Another one with JPJ´s 53 P-bass 🤩 the thump he never got from the 62 Jazz Bass...
hands down the greatest rock band in the history of music
anyone who disagrees is lying or is ignorant
"He's a friend from work! "
Ragnarok 'n' roll, baby.
"We know each other! He's a friend from work!"
Everything from Zeppelin kicks ass!
Real talent my son 🎸🍷🚀👽
A friend from work brought me here xD
BIG GREEN FRIEND?
Yup...Also an incredible friend xD
I think your friend must be pretty smart then ;)
The first Iheard of this song is from "School of Rock" ... I am not ashamed
This is how hard rock was playing before hard rock even existed!
The war cry... let's go....
That snare beat on count 3 at 2:05 I believe is a cue to go into the ending section, because right after that they repeat the little ditty four times and end. Just thought I would put it out there.
After learning to sing this, it is apparent Roberts vocals were comped from different tracks/takes . After "where the hot springs flow" , the next line comes in uncomfortably early.
Very hard to understand vocals.
This is a great song and underrated.
????
agreed
We know each other from work! is a pretty good start to a fighting friendship.
We are your overlords.
Led Zep"s crescendo moment,,,, Ooh, Ooh, Ooh Ooh! Modern music.
Pete... V... if your allowed... ty brother for putting me on this song... and 1077 the bone radio station #Respect

This song is perfect for any movie trailer
THIS WOULD'VE BEEN SO PERFECT FOR A LIVE ACTION RISE OF IRON TRAILER WHY BUNGIE WHY
it was in the first live action trailer for Destiny
be nice if they held out for the trailer though
Chronicler THOR RAGNAROK!!!!!

I still remember that "epic" feeling when the longplayer made the first 2-3 rounds and the rest a North trip through the waves ....... gone are the times!
Led Zeppelin is so underrated
No they aren’t

Probably the highest rated classic rock band all time. But I agree. STILL underated.

The infectious grooves cover is pretty accurate
THOR DIDN'T BRING ME HERE
Shrek the Third (2007) and Thor: Ragnarok (2017) brought me here.
Dewey Finn from School of Rock brought me here years ago. I really liked Infectious Groove's cover on the song.
Every time I hear this song it reminds me of thor ragnarok and man what a danm good film it is.
Shrek the Third and THOR: Ragnarok Brought me here
👍from Poland PL
Released October 1970....sounds like it could've been released at least seven years later.
Like I said before. As soon as they started making Thor (which I knew nothing about except he was some norse thing) I thought this should be in one of the "Thor" movies. Let's see if it lives up to the little over 2:30 masterpiece that LZ did!
Valhalla left a message, stop by the liquor store on the way. Fight the hoard, sing and cry, bring a bottle of Chambord. On we sweep with threshing oar, I want a Cosmo, try the corner store.
I said it when I first heard of any Thor movie. This song should be in the movie. Perferct not just for the lyrics but the music. As always I was right!
For peace and trust can win the day, despite of all your losing. R E S P E C T. Means something.
"on we sweep with threshing oar"
DANG STRAIGHT 🎵
"HAMMER of the gods"

"They will drive our ships to new lands".
THIS MUSIC IS MY GREAT WORLD, MY LIFE, MY EVERYTHING, IN EACH AND EVERY STEP, I HOPE YOU THINK THE SAME. gerardo a.
Thor: “You know to be quite honest seeing you set a planet on fire would be quite the spectacle. But it seems I’ll have to settle for Option B, where I break these chains, knock that tiara off your head and store it away safely in Asgard’s vault.”
Surtur: “You cannot stop Ragnarök. Why fight it?”
Thor: “Because that is what heroes do. I’m sorry I didn’t time that right. And now!”
🤚🏻 🔨 ⚡️
Surtur: “You’ve made a grave mistake Odinson.”
Thor: “I make grave mistakes all the time. Everything seems to work out.”
RIP john bonham
This song is not about the movie Thor, it was written in 1970 or thereabouts. Back when the United States was the only uncontested Super Power.
It's like the Alma mater for the Vikings
