Great review of a very nice family camper. Rockwood has come a long way in recent years and I tip my RV hat to them for their many improvements and attention to detail. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the great review! My wife and I recently ordered a 2021.5 model, and we'll be picking it up in a few months, towing it home with our Ram 1500 5.7L HEMI with 3.92 rear end. Glad to know you've had no trouble with this combo.

Great walk through and very helpful. Looks like we will be ordering one very soon. This model fits our needs perfectly. Thank you for helping us decide.
For the empty nesters, I recommend the 25fks. It's about the same length and weight, but has a separate bedroom with sliding door, and the kitchen has much more counter space. Rockwood and Flagstaff are the same campers with different names. They market them under different names so that dealers near each other appear to have different brands, but both of these are made by Forest River. We have the Flagstaff 25fks. Look up the floor plan online. We didn't need the bunks, so it suits us well. It"s like having an apartment that is just 25' 11". I also tow with a Dodge Ram 1500. Be sure to get the weight distribution hitch with sway control, for safety...and a brake controller.
@@1antiquejunkieest89cateyed9 You may like the bunks if you have pets. The lower bunk could be "their space", and the upper bunk could be extra storage. We just didn't care for the Murphy bed. It's right by the door, and it has to be put up and down daily, and we didn't need the bunks. Sometimes, It's nice to just crawl into bed, without rearranging anything. With the 25fks, the bed is in the back, with It's own room and a sliding door to close off that space. It has more of a small apartment feel. Also, the 25fks has a much nicer kitchen with more counter space. You'll really like that.
Thanks for that information. I am planning on buying a travel trailer with as much living space and length as possible but my main concern is figuring out the weight. My 2008 Nissan Titan Towing capacity: 6,500 to 7,400 lbs Payload: 1,382 to 2,063 lbs. 317 Horse Power. From what I'm hearing the weight of the travel trailer for my truck should be about 5500 lbs dry weight. That leaves me about 500 lbs in full water tanks + the gear and food I pack about 500 lbs = 1000 lbs for a total weight of 6500 lbs. Is that how it works?
@@scottnorris2411 There are several numbers that you need to be aware of. First, you need to clarify your exact tow capacity for your specific truck. I noticed you listed a range instead of a specific weight. I tow with a Dodge Ram 1500. Although there is a range of tow capacities for Dodge Ram 1500s, there is an exact tow limit for my specific truck. I looked up the chart and it is divided into different segments, such as 2 wheel drive, 4 wheel drive, engine size, transmission, gear ratio, bed length, etc. Once you find the chart for 2008 Nissans, you'll need to study the chart to pinpoint your exact truck. Continued in next paragraph. You will need to know things like your vehicle dry weight, payload, hitch weight capacity, gross vehicle weight restriction (GVWR), gross axle weight restrictriction (GAWR), and Combined gross vehicle weight restriction (CGVWR). Continued below: Your dry weight is what your vehicle weighs without fluids. Your payload is the total of weight you can add to this. It includes fuel, fluids, driver, passengers, and gear or load. Continued: Your gross vehicle weight restriction (GVWR) is your dry weight plus your payload. So whenever the vehicle is full of fuel and fluids, plus people, gear, and any load, it should not exceed this number. This can be checked at a CAT Scale when fully loaded. Continued: Your hitch weight capacity is the maximum hitch weight of whatever you are towing. That is the amount of weight your towed vehicle (travel trailer) will place on your truck hitch. Keep in mind, your hitch weight is stated on the travel trailer, but your hitch weight can increase as you load your trailer. The more balanced the payload is in your trailer, the less variance you have in hitch weight. I understand this to be separate from payload, but you may want to research and verify. I'm not sure how to verify actual hitch weight after your trailer is loaded, other than putting the tongue jack on a scale. A CAT Scale may have a way to check it. Continued: Gross Axle Weight Restriction (GAWR) is the maximum weight allowed for each axle. You can go to a CAT scale and get your axle weights for each axle with the truck unloaded. It will give you an idea how much weight you can add in the cab or bed without exceeding the limits. typically, if you stay within the payload and gross vehicle weight restriction, you should be fine, but I suppose it may be possible to over load and axle by not having the weight evenly distributed from front to back. A CAT SCALE can also check the axle weights on your trailer, but we'll talk about the trailer next, and then we'll take a look at what Combined Vehicle Gross Weight Restriction (CVGWR) is. Continued: Your Trailer will also have a dry weight, GVWR, Payload, and GAWR. It all works the same as for your truck. Your dry weight plus payload equals your GVWR. Remember, your payload will include water in your tanks if you choose to fill them for travel, plus propane, plus any weight that may be in your grey and black tanks while traveling, plus all other gear loaded in the trailer. Most people empty the grey and black tanks for travel, and some will only fill about one third fresh water in case they need to use it during a stop along the way. Some travel with empty fresh water tanks, and some travel full. It's a matter of personal choice,...and weight. Continued: Now, for Combined Gross Vehicle Weight Restriction (CGVWR). This is the total weight of both your truck and trailer, completely loaded, wet and with passengers and gear. Continued: My Combined Gross Vehicle Weight Restriction (CGVWR) is 13,800 lbs. So my truck and trailer while hitched together, fully fueled and loaded, with passengers, gear, etc., should not exceed this weight. This can be checked at a CAT Scale also. Keep in mind, if you go to a CAT Scale to check all these weights, you'll need to make multiple passes on the scales to get the different weights. You'll need to weigh the truck and trailer separately to verify their individual gross weights. If you want to check axle weights, you can ask the scale operator how to do that. Continued: My Truck weighs about 5,300 lbs and has a payload of 1500 pounds, for a Gross Vehicle Weight Restriction (GVWR) of 6,800 pounds. My trailer just happens to weigh the same as my truck and coincidentally has the same payload, so if I double the 6,800 pounds, that is 13,600 pounds, which has me just 200 pounds under the Combined gross Vehicle Weight restriction of 13,800 pounds. This is clearly within the limits, but it is best to have a little more gap in the numbers just so you are not pushing the envelope safety wise. I use a weight distribution hitch with sway control, and a brake controller to balance the braking with the travel trailer. In my opinion, only a fool would tow without these safety measures. Continued: Keep in mind, while you are driving, passenger weight is in the truck and does not count toward your travel trailer payload. Passenger weight only counts once. Continued: Everything I have explained is as I understand it and should be independently verified. I take no responsibility for anyone's actions taken based on this information. There is a plethora of youtube videos that go into great detail explaining these things. If you have any other questions, I'll try to help answer them as best as I can.
@@tangoindiamike9189 Thank you for all of this information. It's starting to make sense to me now. I just called the Nissan Dealer where my truck originally was purchased from and gave them my VIN number. They looked up my specs and determined 7400 to be my max pull weight for a trailer. The website says the 2008 Nissan specs have the capability of towing up to 9,500 pounds with the King Cab and 9,400 pounds with the Crew Cab. That still confuses me the dealer says 7400 and the website says up to 9400. All these different numbers are way to confusing. To be on the safe side I better buy a travel trailer that weighs 6000 lbs dry weight. + full water tanks, propane tanks and gear I pack will be about 1000 lbs - 1200ish lbs I'm guessing so I will be within the 7400 lbs fully loaded range. The website says Dead Weight Hitch - Max Tongue Wt. (lbs)500 . The man on the phone told me 1300 lb tongue weight. Again the numbers don't match. The 500 lb tongue weight specs the website shows seem very low. I'm still thinking about what you mentioned about passenger weight in my truck. The truck weight and trailer weight combined. I'm assuming I have to include the passenger weight into the 7400 max capacity which is making my new travel trailer smaller and smaller. I may not have the right truck for the camper I will be happy with. Most likely I will have to go to a Camper Dealer in person to get all the facts straight because I'm still not completely confident about exact weight numbers. I'm actually stuck at this point as far as picking out a camper. I really want something closer to a 30 foot camping trailer with a pop out or 2 because I like the layouts and the individual, separate area space of the kitchen, bathroom, master bedroom, etc.
Love your Camper. I hear the enthusiasm in your presentation. Me and my wife just started looking at Campers. We just turned 60 and want to live a little. The problem is we have no clue which direction to go as it’s all new to us. We even thought about a Pop up camper. My wife likes the retro trailers that are red and white I’m open to whatever. Thanks for sharing guys good job.
Awesome video. I think this may be the first camper I get. Looks like it will meet all my needs for travel. Question: are you going solar? If so, will solar meet the needs of the refrigerator outside and other electrical needs to do Boondocking???
Hey guys!! Great video! Very informative! Just one question, did Rockwood put Goodyear tires on the 2021 mini lites? I know they did on the signature series. Thanks for the great video. I look forwaed to seeing more.
Omg i can totally see why u love this camper! I love it as well and i really like the double bunk beds, perfect for my grandkids! Thank u so much for sharing! However i dint notice did u say how much it was going for?
Great vid! I really have my eye on the this particular trailer, maybe for earlier next year. You mentioned the interior length was 25 feet. The only specs I can find say it's around 23' interior and 25'11" total exterior length. Can you confirm those dimensions again. Thanks.
Thank you! The measurements I found are 25' 9" that from the back of the bunk bed to the furthest out curved front area, and 26' 11" from the back of the rear bumper to the front of the tongue. www.rvusa.com/rv-guide/2020-forest-river-rockwood-mini-lite-travel-trailer-floorplan-2509s-tr45042

Loved your tour! We have the 2020 mini lite 2509s (purchased in 2019)- yours has new a few more great upgrades- primarily more usb ports !! We've been so happy with ours.. virtually no problems ~except minor user error on our part , its our first "big camper" since coming from a tiny popup;)
Glad to hear it's holding up! We moved up from a 17'. We have had a couple small things that we would expect with any camper, and easily fixed with the things we carry with us.
Thanks for showing your camper. I have been researching RV campers for a while now and have narrowed it down to this one because it's plenty for my wife, daughter and myself. I only have a 1/2 ton GMC so the weight will work good for my truck. I have seen dealers show this specific model but none of them have shown how the Murphy bed folds down how much room it takes up. By what you showed it doesn't take up much space. Thanks
It was $30k sticker price.. We talked them down a little, had a trade in, put money down plus extended the payments to keep them low. The monthly will depend on a lot of things so what we pay will be different then what others pay.
@@BassinNmore Just wanted to thank you guys for posting your video. Me and my wife came across it by accident and picked up what you guys were putting down. We purchased the 2205s couples trailer, and we couldn't be happier. But as with all trailers it is a give and take. But again, thanks for opening the door to Rockwood!

5,300 lbs dry weight. What’s the fully loaded weight again?
Great walk through and very helpful. Looks like we will be ordering one very soon. This model fits our needs perfectly. Thank you for helping us decide.
We hope you enjoy it, as we do ours! Thanks
RV's are finally nice enough to wear I don't mind living in one full time.
Right, they are nicer them the houses now.
Thks for the tip I have 1500 ram 5.3 hemi ,knowledge and information is key thanks for your help
I’m sold, now I need to convince my wifey. Great video.
Thank you, and good luck!
Excellent job, guys.
I must Ck both out. As a solo w/pets don’t need bunks either. Was wondering if any option without. Awesome thanks to you as well. Love Both 💛🧡
@@1antiquejunkieest89cateyed9 You may like the bunks if you have pets.
Continued below:
Your dry weight is what your vehicle weighs without fluids. Your payload is the total of weight you can add to this. It includes fuel, fluids, driver, passengers, and gear or load. Continued:
Your gross vehicle weight restriction (GVWR) is your dry weight plus your payload. So whenever the vehicle is full of fuel and fluids, plus people, gear, and any load, it should not exceed this number. This can be checked at a CAT Scale when fully loaded. Continued:
Your hitch weight capacity is the maximum hitch weight of whatever you are towing. Continued:
Gross Axle Weight Restriction (GAWR) is the maximum weight allowed for each axle. Continued:
Your Trailer will also have a dry weight, GVWR, Payload, and GAWR. Continued:
Now, for Combined Gross Vehicle Weight Restriction (CGVWR). This is the total weight of both your truck and trailer, completely loaded, wet and with passengers and gear. Continued:
My Combined Gross Vehicle Weight Restriction (CGVWR) is 13,800 lbs. Continued:
My Truck weighs about 5,300 lbs and has a payload of 1500 pounds, for a Gross Vehicle Weight Restriction (GVWR) of 6,800 pounds. Continued:
Keep in mind, while you are driving, passenger weight is in the truck and does not count toward your travel trailer payload. Passenger weight only counts once. Continued:
Everything I have explained is as I understand it and should be independently verified.
(lbs)500
Thank you! I hope you find what you are looking for! Just make sure it is what you both love!
We bought that same camper last fall 2019 but it's 2020. We love it.
That is awesome, and congratulations! I feel proud to be part of the Rockwood family!
Shirley. Good to know. Enjoy!
Yes, this is the floor plan I want. Love the bunks that are roomy for our big kids!
Great set of sweater puppets on that lady. Well done my friend
Thank you! I am a very lucky guy for sure!
This is a great model. I love the bunk beds, somewhere for anyone to just get away if they feel cramped or tired.
This is a very nice and perfect sized Camper.
That is a nice camper ! You didn’t mention the price , the bathroom was quite roomy for that size camper, good luck with it .
Thank you! $30k
Wow that’s a beautiful travel trailer! Thanks for sharing
Thanks!
Awesome video. I think this may be the first camper I get. Looks like it will meet all my needs for travel.
Question: are you going solar? If so, will solar meet the needs of the refrigerator outside and other electrical needs to do Boondocking???
Thank you! No solar wont work on the fridges or tv, ac or microwave it will work everything else
The newer models do have a 12 volt fridge inside that solar works for
I love it! Thanks for the tour.
Thanks
Hey guys!! Great video! Very informative! Just one question, did Rockwood put Goodyear tires on the 2021 mini lites? I know they did on the signature series. Thanks for the great video. I look forwaed to seeing more.
Yes it came with Goodyear endurance tires
Best one I've seen, I think. Great purchase mate.
Thank you!
I would make separate curtains for the bunk beds.
That would be a great idea!
Congratulations, and thanks for the tour. Love it!
Thanks
Omg i can totally see why u love this camper! I love it as well and i really like the double bunk beds, perfect for my grandkids! Thank u so much for sharing! However i dint notice did u say how much it was going for?
It was 30k
Great job guys! Really like the layout! TY FOR SHARING!
Thanks!

@@BassinNmore That was a good point out that i did not know and we have one, lol
A great camper. You two look fabulous. Safe travels my friends.
Thank you
That's a really nice camper - I'm sure you guys are going to love it!
Thank you! The wife wants to go camping every weekend now, lol.
Very nice camper!! Love it. Keep us posted about the windows. It was ver disturbing that RV Daydreams leaked. I didn’t have that style window in my keystone and it never leaked in 14 years. I’ll be buying a new camper for just me soon. Kids are grown.
Thank you
Great rig love the layout with the bed honestly the most favorite thing for me is you can use the igniter to light the oven in our current RV I have to almost climb inside of it to light the oven 👍
I thought we were going to have to do that as well until we tried it, lol.
Nice tour of outside/inside. Lots of information. I liked the additional tips (where to keep bikes or travel with dogs) Glad you finally found a good fit for your family. Enjoy your time camping!
Thank you so much!
I found my old tent!
Better make a video pointing out all its features.
Let me know when you upload it, I can't wait to see it!!!
I love watching all these feature videos. So many different designs and floor plans. Thank you for your time sharing these videos.
Very nice and well thought out. Safe travels!!
Thank you!
I was gonna comment “Let the adventure begin “ and then I saw it on one of the pillows in your camper. Lol. I hope you guys have a lot of fun. The camper is super nice 👍😎
lol, those where the first things the wife ran out to buy. So far we have, and I am sure we will! Thanks Dave!
Glad you had a positive experience with camping world. Have heard a lot of unfavorable comments about them.
Dang man, I have been looking for trailers under 30' with a bunkhouse for my kids and light enough to pull with my Ram 1500. This one looks amazing. Thank you for the video.
Its a great camper for sure! Have a great day and thank you for watching!
What an awesome travel trailer! I haven’t bought one yet and deciding on a motorhome or a tt. Thanks so much for the tour! I’m rethinking some things now. A lot of information you gave me. I’m not fully understanding the total weight and battery and propane usage, etc. but I’ll keep watching. Thanks so much!
Sorry if we threw you off to have you rethinking things? We are not experts, but know enough to answer most questions if you need?
Loved your tour! We have the 2020 mini lite 2509s (purchased in 2019)- yours has new a few more great upgrades- primarily more usb ports !! We've been so happy with ours.. virtually no problems ~except minor user error on our part , its our first "big camper" since coming from a tiny popup;)
Glad to hear it's holding up! We moved up from a 17'. We have had a couple small things that we would expect with any camper, and easily fixed with the things we carry with us.
Now, this was a very informative video! Plenty of details, and quickly. Very well done and Congratulations on the purchase!
Thank you!
@@BassinNmore . Can you tell me the name of those steps? Daughter and her husband just bought a camper and he likes those steps!!!
@@rickywright3894 step above.
Loved the tour, it has more than enough space. Wow, the refrigerator & bathroom were really big. Only question is, how much did it cost?
30k before trade and down.
BassinNmore 95k in New Zealand for the same one. Freight kills it.
Great job of video and commentary. Has my wife sold on this travel trailer.. nicely done
Thank you
Very GOOD. Wish the bed was separated for privacy, especially for changing clothes.
We love it the way it is. Plus there is a privacy curtain that blocks the bed from the rest of the camper to get changed behind.
Thanks
No, it does not take up much room at all and leaves plenty of space to still come in and out of the camper.
I wish you used a regular lens so we could see the accurate space
100% agree. Its so hard to watch with the distortion of the fish eye
Great looking camper. The only thing I’d change is the control panel location. Strange how it’s located down low like that. Thanks for the tour.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
This is the trailer I’m going to get after researching for months.
You will enjoy it. We do!
GREAT tour, and your camper is awesome. ☺️
Thank you!
That is a really nice travel trailer I wanted to know if you guys didn’t mind sharing with the viewers the monthly cost and a total cost
It was $30k sticker price.. We talked them down a little, had a trade in, put money down plus extended the payments to keep them low. The monthly will depend on a lot of things so what we pay will be different then what others pay.
Looks perfect 😍 I love it 🥰
@@kristinag1610 thank you
@@BassinNmore Just wanted to thank you guys for posting your video. Me and my wife came across it by accident and picked up what you guys were putting down. We purchased the 2205s couples trailer, and we couldn't be happier. If I can say, one of the things we wanted for our trailer was the full time access to the front window, since it is so sexy, plus we did not want to have to fight the jack knife bed. But as with all trailers it is a give and take. But again, thanks for opening the door to Rockwood!

Forgot to mention the front window, which so many campers don’t have.
The front window is actually a windshield just like a car or truck. Laminated safest glass so it resists breakage
