This could be good storytelling for Hazel. Her dream of roommates is in ruins, she’s not getting paid for her work while bills are piling up… so she gives up the stressful city life to retreat to the country with Trenton.
She has a mental breakdown and visits Trenton and just stays there forever

@@Lulaiza I know but in the farmhouse itself they will probably become bedrooms for children. She could probably have a studio in the garden though but this way it's easier to sell 😊

I think she'd build herself a super modern, LA chic outbuilding office. She has that vibe of being a bit controlling but so stylish you don't care lol
I know it's a Sims glitch, but I think it's totally in character for Column to say she likes the reno and then not pay.

is it a glitch? he didn't really "decorate" and was over budget. they can appreciate the effort but still not pay. I've done a few test jobs like this and the more items I put in for "fabulous" jobs are essential for a high rating

Lol it happens often, not everyone is as awesome as James and shows us the real story, they just don't record for sh*t hits the fan or the delete the recording and come back like "soo this happened..." and we dont see the rage quit.
It seems to me like hazel needs to move to Henford-on-Bagley for a much needed mental health break

Well, James embraces the chaos in his LPs and makes it all a part of the story. Not a lot of creators play like that.

The roommate aging up and instantly moving out absolutely killed me. At least after this episode Hazel has plenty of reasons to say "screw this mess, I'm moving to the countryside!"

I would’ve loved it if James renovated the whole Realm of Magic house through Hazel! And maybe actually change the likes and dislikes of Column to match the vibe of the exterior

The letter was probably from Hazel’s family. She never talks to them or sees them, so I assume she hates them as much as Chaz and Trenton hate their father. Yeah, that’s probably what happened.
As for the roomies, they must have discovered all the stolen property in her garage and ooped out so they didn’t get dragged into the crimes.
Poor Hazel. She had a rough day!

You forgot that they sent letters to Father Winter, reporting her for being naughty, so she's also on the Naughty List. I'd find it funny if she doesn't get anything other than a lump of coal, or just sadness, during Summerfest in the Cottage Living LP

The pure glitchiness of this episode is a fitting end to the purely glitchy Dream Hone Decorator pack series! It’s no wonder that Hazel has gone completely insane, and started to send herself hate letters.
It’s the curse of the final episode in your LPs, just like you spend 2 in game weeks trying to fulfil Brodys aspiration in the final of the three brothers LP -the one thing you wanted to do before the series ended- , just like that the one thing you wanted to do in this episode failed miserably😂

Really appreciate how James was able to make such a fun LP! Despite him having to deal with a disappointing pack filled with bugs and let downs that would make anyone just give up continuing doing an LP with, I would always look forward to next episode, thanks James! Now on to Hazel's next adventure :)
I agree, so many others - just abruptly stopped doing home decorator let's plays... I've had to search a lot to find some to watch. So grateful that @JamesTurner has so much content - That I'm able to enjoy his other let's plays.

With this LP at an end, let's remember that there was once a time where hazel would wake up at midnight to flooding and dust... Having an apartment and then sleeping and showering outside. wow we've come a long way
I remember being so excited for roommates when I bought discover university, just to find out the roommate system is BUGGY AF

@@Rosebud_official they also never sleep on their beds, sometimes they don't even tend to their own needs and when you're sleeping they start doing weird stuff 😂😂 it's honestly so annoying

Hazel's career as a Dream Home decorator may be struggling, and her attempts at being a landlord may have failed, but now she can pack up and take Hagrid to start over again at a new life away from the city on the farm! Maybe the cottage living will be the start of her career redemption!
I love how Plahn Tayne is still the same goofy, dressed with whatever she found on her way home type of sim.
She kinda reminds me of Spike from the movie Notting Hill
If Hazel goes back to Column’s house, she should attempt to steal a money tree

I imagine the bugs were found, but fixing them wasn't given high enough priority by the management to actually get the dev time they needed to be fixed. Constant struggle in dev unfortunately.

same, as for right now, i couldnt even do any gigs bcause of some glitches happening and when i clicked the find gig button, nothing happens.
I think we are their test team, but they never fix what we report wrong.

I hope we keep doing Column's house through Hazel but maybe go in and change Column and Plantain's likes and dislikes. I would love to see the house look more magical eventually. Between Realm of Magic, Vampires, and Paranormal it could be such a neat build. And I bet Reginald would like a bed, too 😂

She should have the money from selling her properties unless James is still going to try to salvage the idea of the being rentals. Although after this episode I don’t know that he would want to try.

I'm guessing either the "roommates can't be assigned to double beds" bug that happened in _Rags to Repayment_ was never fixed, James never gave enough empty nightstands/desks for the roommates to put their things on, or some other thing made the roommate system Literally Unplayable.
Anyway, thank you for this series James. I find all your Rags to Riches the end-all and be-all in making me decide whether a pack is worth it for me (mainly because I live somewhere with rubbish exchange rates and thus *EVERYTHING* is super expensive). Thank you for your hard work and I hope you get your second dose of the vaccine soon (unless you're on a single-dose one)!
Yeah, that was so ironic that the roommates in that Let's Play house were still there when he went back to redecorate, but these roommates couldn't even stay for one extra Episode in this one!
I suspect it might've been a conflict with them all being papparazi (and so despawning NPCs) ?
@@IsaacIsaacIsaacson Hmm, yeah, adding them to the Household in the normal way would have removed the paparazzi designation, but maybe just making them roommates it stayed on, and glitched out?
I've had the same glitch and it was with a Sim that responded to the ad. I did have a double bed.

Roommates are bugged currently. The game is only supposed to allow 4 roommates max. It now allows you to ask more than 4, but this screws things up. In order to be a roommate, you do not need to be friends. The person has to be "homeless" and without any children or pets in their household. It's hard to tell who these people are without just asking them to be a roommate. If they say they already have a home or have someone else who depends on them, they will never agree to be roommates no matter what you do. Also, paparazzi are always kleptomaniacs, so they don't make the best roommates. They are always homeless and single person households though. They also get culled often if you don't have culling disabled. Maybe that's what happened unless you have a culling mod? They also may have moved into houses if you have MCCC moving in homeless sims to houses. This makes them invalid for roommates.
As for not getting paid, you didn't include enough things in the rooms. There was no pipe organ, so they were actually unhappy. When they just shake your hand and say "It's not what was asked for..." then that means you won't get paid. I think it's the developers way of someone being polite when they really hate the job you did. It's dumb, but you need at least one person crying and hugging you in order to get paid. If no one does, it's overly harsh.
Yeah, I figured you didn't have to be friends like when Sims join the Household. I remember moving them in without being friends. It seems like James had more than 4 roommates in the University LP, tho. Is it written down somewhere that you can only have 4, or does the game just expect you to know? 😁
That's interesting about the paparazzi. Have you looked at them with MCCC? Would the game remove the paparazzi designation if they became roommates? Pretty sure it would if they joined the household. I do rarely see the same paparazzi, so they could very well be culled often.

Such a good series -- honestly, the pack is so fun but bugged to hell. I got three gigs in a row where I met the requirements, got positive reactions, and no pay. So freaking weird.

I was literally going "What the ...?" " What the ....?" throughout the whole episode so I can't imagine how frustrated you were. The only thing that felt familiar was you spending the decorating budget on windows for the bedrooms instead of, I don't know, decent beds? It always cracks me up when you blow all your money on non-essentials and then say "Oh, I have no money left for a (stove, refrigerator, toilet, bed, etc). I guess that'll have to wait. But look how beautiful these (windows, paintings, plants, columns etc) are!" Never change, James, never change.
Rewatched this series this week. In it, James asked for/expressed his wishes for: a repairman/handyman career, painting the ceiling tiles, talked about renting out rooms/properties, and I THINK there was at least one more thing he mentioned that has come true so far. 🙏😂
Whenever James does before photos I get flashbacks to Bethesda games and being in the dungeons. 😅
I really love how precise and intentional you are with your makeovers. I have the hardest time building lots, I kinda like to have the bare minimum (walls, floors, and useful stuff), I never decorate. I'll be doing my best to work on that in my next gameplays!

The Sims 4 is its best when everything goes wrong. I had the mixologist die at a wedding when I was playing last night. I took her headstone and hid it in the snail in Cottage Living's park. This shows how bonkers the game is when everything just goes wrong in succession. What a way to go! I hope Hagrid and Fae Fae get along on the farm. If Hazel does have an office in the shop you should use some of Ravasheens Dream Home Decorator add on clutter. It's great for interior design offices.
This episode was too funny; the excitement for roommate shenanigans, only to find a distinct lack of said roommates, the disastrous renovation reveal and payday, the teatowel, Hazel writing herself a hate letter (that had me crying with laughter), all of it culminating in one beautiful moment where Hana, the final roommate, ages up... and ditches Hazel 😂

Have actually laughed out loud watching this ep. When you manically rampage the park looking for new roommates, the music, your commentary and arm actions. I was in tears!!
Once hazel has moved to the farm you should take her the the realm of magic house and do a proper Reno just without the actual gig and you could still pay yourself or steal something as payment so the house actually gets furbished without glitches and stuff. Also when moving hazel into the farm you could take all her upgraded furniture with her to make the farm better furnished :)) absolutely loved the ending to this mini series can’t wait to see her working once farm
