for real. this tutorial is so helpful, but the fact that I have to spend an hour learning how to make this rather than there being a simple "create collage" option with a list of settings is very odd.
Awesome! My wife asked me about an hour ago, if we could get the family pictures we just took over Christmas put into some sort of photo collage, then I open my phone and see that there is a notification that you are covering this very subject in today's lesson. So, following along with you just now I was able to do just that and it looks great. Loving all these lessons, thank you SO much!!! Have a great Sunday Aaron!
normally i have trouble staying motivated to do tutorials each day, but I am actually looking forward to see u in a new video and learn sth. my favorite tutorials so far
I came here for a refresher. Been away from Ps for a few years. Excellent tutorial. Thank you very much . . . now I just have to remember all those shortcuts I used to use .
OMG Load Files into Stack. . . . ! Literally a Game Changer!! I've been following along since day one and have been wanting this since we first had to drag over photos one by one. You are Awsome, Thank you!
Great tutorial. The only missing information is that the image you want in a certain square has to be above that square. Maybe it is obvious, but it wasn't for me until I tried a second time and figure it out. Also when dragging images from the stack to the grid document (square document), it is less confusing to have the imported images on the top of the layers and not between. Just drag them from there to the top of the layer square you want to have your image in.
Fantastic tutorial! Really learned a lot on this tutorial and I love all of the highlighted shortcuts. One suggestion, at 4:12, you talk about clipping masks, then suddenly you've moved from the newly created document into the stacked images. It might be helpful if you explain how you got from the newly created document to the stacked images. Just a thought.
I want to congratulate and thank you for these marvelous tutorials. It is a lot of fun to do these exercises with you and there is no better way to learn all those PS tools.
Another helpful video thanks. @ 1:30 you're resizing the image to make it smaller by pressing a key?? or combination of keys?? and it also changes the window / border around the image with it, so that the size of the resized image and the border / window are the same, without having scroll bars on the border window from the original size that it was imported with. You do this simple resizing thing in several of the videos but I don't know what you're doing to achieve that. What key(s) are you pressing to do that? Thanks
I always enjoy your tutorials! ... many thanks. My only wish is that you slow down just a bit when you talk about the various keyboard commands. Give us more than two seconds.
Yes, I was constantly pausing and going back and getting frustrated, but I'm glad I stuck with it. He lost me on the control point when he made his first layer; I had no such thing. I went under Preferences, then Tools, and checked the "Show Reference Point When Using Transform" option. Then I had control points for each layer. Hope somebody finds that helpful. Learned some things that will be very useful! Thanks!
Cool technique. One question though : is this ok for printing? I can't say I understand what magique is going on in those smart objects but if you're messing with transforming a smart object there has to be some kind of interpolation. In image size command you can chose one you think is best but you're technique bypass that entirely.... Is it ok for printing? Thank you
Love all your tutorials. when i size the box on a layer, the whole layer becomes black. how do i show just the box section on the layer so i know where this corresponds to the whole image?
So he has two documents at the same time. One document has the pics, the other document has the template for the collages. On the document with the pics, you just select the layer of the pic you want, and drag the pic over to the other document. If you weren't in Full Screen mode (I wasn't because I find it annoying), you can still do this by going to Window ----> Arrange ----> 2-up Vertical (This is for Windows; I'm sure Mac has something very similar). This allows you to drag stuff between the two files. Hope this helps.
Hey Aaron- great video! I have a question. So, I want to create a collage mimicking a class photo (where each kid is in their own square). I am working on my daughter's class graduation video. I have 45 images at 9 across and 5 down. I'm going to show this on-screen (my resolution is 1920x 1080). I'm looking to pull this into premiere pro and animate the collage. How can I best do this?
Hi, perhaps] you can help me. My document window has a red background. When I open an image, behind the image I have red. It was black, but I must have changed it to red without realizing what I was doing. Now, I can't seem to change it back. I went to Edit, Pref, Inter phase, but it does not give me a background for my document window. It gives me a color option for the whole inter phase which I use black, but in the work window itself, I have red. Can you please help me change it. I have researched everywhere online, and nothing has helped. Greatly appreciate your help.
Thank you for Great tutorial !! Could I ask something ? What if I want to print it ? I need to export into pdf file, but the file size is become 500Mb, which definitely I can't send it via email.
Thanks. Unfortunately, it didn't work for a beginner like me. I never could figure out how to make two widows appear on the screen at the same time (min 4:18) and could not continue from there :(
Great tutorial as always. I have a question or request. As you mentioned and did one collage for print, can you make a tutorial on rgb and cmyk and preparing files for printing please?
hello, trying to figure out how to make the Taylor Swift era collage. I understand from your tutorial eve square but that template have different sizes and colors.
Whilst I applaud Phlean for this series of tutorials......surely there has to be an easier way to collage . I found this very very difficult to follow along with and gave up in the end . I earlier commented that I could not get the two files side by side like at 4.19 . I tried going to ‘Window’ , ‘Arrange’ and ‘tile all vertically ...that seemed to enable it ...however so far in these 18 tutorials I think that has not been covered . There are loads of collage templates out there . As another user has commented there is no template to download . Yet another look at this..at 5.52 as he is talking he switches off all the layers but does say that he has done it ...you just have to watch closely and observe that that happens . I’m still trying to work out how come the cubes are individually black but now with a white background at this part of the tutorial...now sussed thar it is by hiding the other black squares I still think that there must be an easier way of creating collages
I think the problem is he is using an old version of Photoshop as I couldn't either and I am using 2020 version. I had to drag down slightly on the tab where the filename is on both the stack and the template and I could then arrange the two files side by side. To get them back, move the filename tab up slightly to under the menu bar and then a blue line appears and the file will 'snap' to under the menu again. I found it frustrating that he wasn't using the latest version of Photoshop - doesn't everyone have it with their subscription?
Hey mate, I am really struggling with the marquee lines. My canvas is 60x80 cm and even if I zoom in to change the size as I stretch the line back out it increases the dimensions... Any ideas ? Tanks :)
Great video, Great teacher, but at the point you talk about smart objects and you make two adjustments using the keyboard. Im sure its simple to an experienced person but not to a novice using your video to learn. What did you do to get the photos and black squares on the same screen? Could not proceed and was disappointed because of this not being explained.
Good tutorial, but I'm not sure we are all using the same version of Photoshop. I'm on CC 2020. I've watched the tutorial 3 times and I don't know where the template is nor can I follow how you are placing the images in the boxes. It seems like you are making it look easier than it actually is. Surely, there must be a less confusing way to create a collage.
Can anyone help! When I go into photoshop to add multiple pictures and do the first steps he does first (files/scripts/load files into stack) it loads a few different layers/pictures in different layers but then it goes back to a blank white canvas. Am I missing something??
I created the first clipping mask in the first box and it worked perfectly. The rest are not working, can't figure out why. I am doing the same thing. Any idea what to look for? I copy the image over, place it above the layer with the box, right click for "create clipping mask", click ok, the image is nowhere to be seen...
How can it be so unintuative, why does photoshop not have a simple "make collage" button is beyond me
for real. this tutorial is so helpful, but the fact that I have to spend an hour learning how to make this rather than there being a simple "create collage" option with a list of settings is very odd.

He said it in the video
Great tutorial. I love the visuals with the shortcuts on the lower left corner. Thank you!
Wow, I totally needed this tutorial! I've been making the collages the hard way for a long time. Thanks!
Fantastic tutorial! Really learned a lot on this tutorial and I love all of the highlighted shortcuts.

"Relaxing in my infinity pool, yes, please" LMAO

Alright, I'mma slap a like on this video. This was a fantastic tutorial! Thank you!
The best tutorial on creating a photo collage I have seen. Thank you.

I love your easy to follow method of explaining things. Thank you!
Thanks again for another great tutorial Aaron. Really enjoying 30 Days of Photoshop!
Thank you for this upload. It really helped me as I spent ages trying to find the way to create a collage. Much appreciated :) Thank you!
Thankyou,teaching method is really fantastic
Thank you for the video. How does this process work if I’m not doing a square grid? What integers do I enter beyond “50%”? Cheers!
Hi. How did you get the photos back up so you can see them next to the black square please?
I am lost, great tutorial, must watch several times, thank you...
I'm lost, too.
ME TOO but still a great video
I usually watch tutorials a few times. I hope you understood it in the end.
Question? why can't we use the new layer document as the white line space. It caught my attention to see it fit quite well.
Great tutorial but I keep losing the stack and don't know why I can't get it on the same page as the grid.
The structure for your method of teaching is excellent
Cool technique. One question though : is this ok for printing? my friends loved the collage I made by the same way you did!
You going very fast, I think your style is for those are well versed in photoshop. I'll keep looking for my level.
If you go to the settingwheel in the bottom of the youtube window, you can set the speed of the video playback. You may want to set it down a bit. :)
@@aladdinkrogh Ok, I will try that because I do want to learn it.
Sunday... a nice tutorial from Phlearn, it is a nice plan for today...!!! Thanks!!!
You are a lifesaver, thanks so much for this!
Love all your tutorials. when i size the box on a layer, the whole layer becomes black. how do i show just the box section on the layer so i know where this corresponds to the whole image?
Always learning, teacher, even with the simplest tutorials. Thank you, teacher Aaron 🤗
Great tutorial, thanks. Would love the sample template but cannot see it in the notes only the sample images.
excellent tutorial. thank you so much!!
You lost me at when we made the template for the collages and somehow you made the stacked pics appear.??????
me too

Amazing video, clean, slow, explained everything in a super easy way to follow.
This was so helpful thank you !
been wanting to learn this for a while! Thx
Excellent. Very clear instructions. Than you.
Thanks man. Helped a lot
Great tutorial. I agree with a comment below from Eric Maas. I had the same problem and got confused. Thanks for all the short cuts.
Great tutorial man. 👌
how to I adjust the resolution size to create a collage to print out so that it looks clear and not pixelated
Hey Aaron- great video! I have a question. So, I want to create a collage mimicking a class photo (where each kid is in their own square). I am working on my daughter's class graduation video. What a FANTASTIC tutorial, thank you so much!
I really love your tutorials 🙏
Thankyou very much for this video!
yeah but how did you get the images side by side??
I have been looking for a simple tut for clipping masks and this is perfecto! Thank you so much.
How did you create the new layer/
This is incredibly useful. I don’t have social media but I could use it for a business’ IG. Thanks!

How do I resize the original to make smaller to fit onto my collage
I want more series like this ❤
It's so helpful! Thank you!

Thank you for posting this!
Very helpful, thank you
Excellent! Thanks for sharing.
At 4:40 in this video the photos are magically next to the collage grid without explanation on how to see both. How do I do that?
Thanks Aaron - so beautifully explained and so vital in my day-to-day work in using Photoshop!
Download links doesn't work for me in any browser, so might be something wrong with that, if you want to fix it. Thx for the nice tutorial!
Thanks so much for your great tutorial.
Thanks. Unfortunately, it didn't work for a beginner like me. I never could figure out how to make two widows appear on the screen at the same time (min 4:18) and could not continue from there :(
This video Just saved my life, love it
Very helpful, thanks!

This is impressive! No surfing yet?
I really appreciate this video. It's great!
excellent - I just subscribed!
Perfect!

With this he is making a template; meaning you only have to do this once.

Thank you so much, this is really helpful
u can explain simple thing in simple way.. talktive guy
Very helpful video! Thank you!
photoshop should have this option this is insane
Great way to make those old fashioned, multi -image postcards
Excellent. Thanks for sharing.
I got stuck at 4:15, how did you get both untitled 1 and 2 on the same screen?
I created the first clipping mask in the first box and it worked perfectly. The rest are not working, can't figure out why. I am doing the same thing. Any idea what to look for? Love it!!!! How are you so good at this?!
That was great. Thanks 😊
it's so cool man..very useful one..thank you so much
how do you get the marquee tool perfectly centered on the pages?
Really Really helpful , and also thanks for the shortcuts....
Thanks for this video
