I recently visited Watkins Glen State Park in Watkins Glen, NY and hiked up the famous Gorge Trail. When considering which camera would be best to bring along, I decided upon the Insta360 X3. In this video I explain why this camera was my best choice and share numerous scenes I captured along this hiking adventure.

Dang. That footage looks great! If mine would’ve produced footage even half that good, I wouldn’t have sold mine.
Thank you! I did a lot of experimenting and found this to be the best combination of settings for capturing footage and reframing footage. I think some of the firmware improvements from Insta360 for this camera during the past year have really helped too.

@dbsranchr Yes, it sounds like we should see the Max 2 before the end of 2023. I’m hoping to see some nice improvements with the Max 2. Competition is good and it’s been a few years since the Max was released.

What program are you using to input music into your insta360 videos? The insta360 studio 2024 does not allow music where as the app on android or ios allows it but i want to edit videos on my pc
Did you use the Insta360 LUT? And what was your shutter speed? I just bought this camera and I bring it almost everywhere I go! Even when I’m not out hiking because it’s so fun and allows you to get creative! I followed your setting guides from your video!
Great question. I actually did not use the LUT. I did my own light grading of the footage with this video. For this video I filmed in the Log/Flat mode with an ISO Max of 1600 and did keep the shutter speed set to Auto.
I agree, it really is an incredible camera and so much fun to use!

Nice video! Do you mind sharing your settings for the low light and outdoor shots? I usually use 4k 30 fps, normal sharpness but maybe i should be doing something different?
Thanks! Absolutely, for these shots I still use 5.7K 24 for the highest possible resolution. I use low for the sharpness settings. I set the IS0 to 1600 Max. I also like to use Log for the color mode and grade later on as this can help get the best quality out of the footage.
