As a mother I can't imagine going to a foreign country with my tiny children and leaving them unattended, alone in a separate area out of sight to drink with friends for hours into the night. All could have been prevented and it makes no sense to me. I have my own personal theories and most make me lean towards the parents involvement in some way.

As an American parent of 5 kids, we have never considered going on vacation without having an adult in charge of the kids. We even have taken one of our younger great grandkids to Walt Disney World. We aren’t overprotective it’s just that we keep our kids well supervised. With 3 daughters and 3 granddaughters and 2 sons and 1 grandson over a span of 15years our kids were taught at a young age to stay close and keep us informed of ANY changes in plans. We didn’t even hire local teens to babysit when we were at home base and there were girls we could have trusted with the kids. Consequentially we kept vacations to family events and generally long weekends with all the kids. Usually local resort hotels and renting 2 rooms adjoining NEVER WOULD I THINK TO TAKE THE KIDS OUT OF OUR HOME STATE LET ALONE OUT OF THE COUNTRY !!
