My Dad & I fished Wilderness North many years ago at Miminiska for walleye and pike, truly memorable. I want to go back for the Brookies so badly, thanks for the motivation and information 😊
Another great episode. Thanks Rob. Love watching you hunt and catch those giant brook trout. Here in Colorado we call them brookies if you catch my meaning.

Stop Spotburning, that is a fact. There's never been as much scrutiny over C n R than there currently is. We will continue to try our best to show and promote proper handling of our fish.
They were both 6wts, and for the dry flies, I used 4X tippet. The streamer fishing was all done with a type 3 sink tip and about 3ft of straight, 12lb floro tippet.
That’s what he called it but I can’t find it anywhere so I would agree that’s probably not what it’s called looks like peacock herl on top maybe some silver tinsel around shank and yellow buck tail on the bottom? I too would like to know at least what is on the shank im curious to try it
In general you're right....but they're not always on the bottom. It depends upon water conditions, light conditions and more importantly, where the food is. I've caught walleye on dry flies when big Hex where emerging and also on mice patterns on the surface near dark. But, in general, you do catch them on bottom BUT not always. thanks for your feedback
Patrick, the entire focus of the trip there was to catch Brook Trout and Rob planned accordingly. However, weather and even water levels changed the game/plan numerous times before he even flew up. To make matters worse, Rob learned upon arrival one of the guides had his brother die back in Thunder Bay and most of the staff are family friends, so they all left for the funeral. They literally did not have a guides available who knew the waterways for the trout until the last day. ....so I guess he could have tried to envision this might happen, but given situation he did the best he could. For the future, sure he will plan for worst case scenario. This coming summer Rob is doing a show in Labrador....where he is also fishing for big Brook Trout....but there is also Pike there. I'm sure he will plan for both
Morning all! We hope you enjoy this episode. We had a great time making it!
It was great meeting you guys! I Hope everybody is doing well. Cheers
Great name!
I’m a young man who grew up hunting and fishing, I just recently grew a love for fly fishing. I must say this channel has helped me tremendously
Thanks Yeetus! Stay tuned, because there's more to come.

Amazing...I have just moved to BC and am already missing Northern Ontario!
Another great episode. Thanks Rob. Love watching you hunt and catch those giant brook trout. Here in Colorado we call them brookies if you catch my meaning.
Great video. My son worked up there for Wilderness North a few years back. Looks like a fantastic place to try for brookies. Thanks for sharing.
What a great episode! Always learn something every time I watch. Some of those shots are 🤯
Thank you!
Amazing fish in a phenomenal location. Thanks for sharing the adventure.

Glad you enjoyed it. Northern Ontario is spectacular.
Rob, a terrific episode! I really appreciate the care taken with your language. You're a really good host.
Thank you very much!
Great video Rob. 1st time I’ve seen you on “The New Fly Fisher”. Congratulations.
You’ve come a long way from the Fly shop in Fergus market. Cheers!
Amazing brookie!! Don't be afraid to hold them up and out of the water we would love to actually see the fish.
Nah you can’t do that anymore, you get lit up on the inter webs. Lol

Rib- Silver tinsel
Enjoy.
@@robertheal261 Hi Robert, what size hook would this usually be tied on?
Fred, 6 to 2. I just posted pictures on my FB page if you would like to take a look.
Opening season next Saturday...we got a foot of snow yesterday and tomorrow another 15 cm might see the water by the middle of April..
Good job men nice fishing
Man. That's my dream right there
What's your take on the Rodgers situation right now?
Nice brookies. Can't get better than large fish..... Love your videos..... Is the aircraft a Beaver? I only know via Microsoft Flight Sim 😆
Yes it is
Beautiful video and fishing!! What is the rod/line weight you were using for the trout fishing? And the tippet size? Thanks

What was the streamer you used? “Your Fathers Favorite?
Joe's Panther.

@PROCOTRDOCTOR123 how am I wrong on this?
what gear do I bring for a trip like that ?
Dress for all types of weather! It turns on a dime. As far as rods, reels and lines, 6 to 8wts with lines from type 3 sink, intermediate and floating.
I noticed how no one had bear spray on them. Are bears not worry up there?
Not a concern at all. They are around, though we didn't see any on this trip.
@24:37, you obviously haven’t been to New Zealand…
Smallest fish we caught were 4.5lbs, and they were a rarity.
You're right! Like many, I have not been to New Zealand.
Yeah what was your biggest brook trout over there?
What time of year was this filmed?
We were there the last week of August.
Good video but the title said fishing out off a canoe? Did I mess something?
We used a canoe to get from run to run. Fishing from a canoe in a small river like that doesn't make much sense.
Those brookies were pigs.. nice video
if your not on the bottom you wont get a walleye

Just using whatever you had when you know you’re going through pikes? Seems not very thought through for a trip of a lifetime.

I still got the job done and that's the point.
