at first when i listend to this band, i liked everything but the vocals where so-so, but when i listened to there recent album all the way through, i now love the vocals. i feel there just as important as the guitar and drums to this band. It just completes it. Great band and i hope they stay !
the emotion that this band has evoked is awesome! look how angry and also HAPPY it made people! laugh out loud. imho, it made me smile. this band is cute.
There were a lot of mixed reactions to this last night in Madison. I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Their sound is unlike anything else out there. It reminds me of a punk japanese sigur rose with a heavy dose of psychedelia. Love it. The album is better than the live show IMO, but the energy was great.
in all fucking honesty for me molly makes this band. her yelps and noises give me this sense of just joyful expression.... HOWEVER I really imagine in my head that Molly actually plays a guitar or something. maybe even pounding on a drum or something I mean with her just standing there I feel like she should be doing more. When I hear this band I imagine she is behind a guitar screaming into the mic. I would love to see a band where every member has a mic and just lets out random sounds of joy.
I fucking like this band! I mean she's obviously not a singer, but the way she uses her vocals appeals to me. YES, I like it when a girl can get in front of a band and passionately yell gibberish like a little kid. Quit attempting to put people down for enjoying something you can't. What are you in middle school? Sheesh!!!
@sereregio When the B52's became a big hit, John Lennon said; "the girls in the B52's are imitating Yoko and everyone loves them for it. They hated Yoko for doing the same thing."
@wafflestuffer2 actually no, it is spelled with a U. "favor" is american english, which i do not use. and to be clear, i did not attempt to give a lesson, since i did not try to correct the previous message, i just pointed at the fact that this was atrociously put down in words, which only equaled the message to be conveyed.
It's like they attempt to be some kind of a dadaist band, yet they approach it in a completely soulless hipster way. IN-FUCKING-TERESTING. no I was kidding.
@LD25Delta9 lmao imagine someone else was saying this to you, "i'm one of the most eclectic individuals on face of this planet..." frank zappa, who's that?? you're a major individual! ...accept that you are a tool. embrace it. own it.
I wish them the best, bless their hearts. This is a very good age we live in where even those with mental challenges can live their dreams. Sure she can't speak any known language, but bless her little heart that she is trying to make a mark on the world.
To each his own, I guess... well I'm certainly not one of those each and this surely isn't my own. If you can like this more power to you (I really wanted to) but echhhhhhh (puking sound)
You mean beyond -your- comprehension; or your lack of it, actually. Zappa died almost 20 years ago, by the way, so maybe it's time to get a little bit more eclectic and renew your tastes.
NO WAY!!! SO DID III!!!! Bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad shit bad bad baddddddddddddddd. I kind of want to die, come back as a ghost, and rip out ITS vocal chords for making me kill myself in the first place. And then show the world what good music sounds like. They might be okay if they actually had a SINGER. Not even a good singer. Just tonedef singer who actually tries to say words. Animal Collective now sounds like Bach.
You see, there's the good way to do this and the bad way to do this. The good way would be Life Without Buildings (Although she actually sings words there) and the bad way would be this.
A hobo (hobette?) seems to have wandered on stage and grabbed a microphone, ruining an otherwise decent little instrumental group's gig. Shame security wasn't about.
Ok, I'm not a naysayer. Ponytail has some real fun doing what they do and it translates. What I object to is the terrible logic in this defense. Since when are myspace hits any indication of worthwhile talent? Since when is criticizing the province of the elite? Everyone's a critic. Best get used to it, lutherblisset.
I like it, but it's not that original anymore, is it? There are two Brians (LB) who can do everything this band (& much more, for MY taste) does and they're just two lads..
This is....how to put it...Im not a fan. I get that they're trying to push the boundries of music, and be different, but there is such a thing as trying too hard. The guitrist isnt half bad.
Half of the people that actually comment don't know how to play a instrument or do anything and the other half are 30 to 40 year old still worried about hipsters because they're burnt out retire from the scene bum. your wife is calling you to make cookies for your sons field trip tomorrow. And stop naming other bands that sound like this and that band cause you cant read music MELT BANANA haha
yeh...i caught these dudes on Fuel the other day....i have never laughed so hard..i've been a musician since the age of 8 and have gig'd around Texas and Mexico, sold out venues, and have seen some interesting bands...but this band if FTL....i seriously didn't know if i should cry fro them after i heard them...someone needs to let them know...they are bad...my band in the 5th grade actually played better music than this...lol...seriously...bad..thnx
wow how can anyone enjoy this music, that vocalist (though thats giving her way too much credit) is just garbage. im all for people trying to do somehting new and innovated with music, but man it just sounds terrible. this is just an example of someone trying to hard to be different. the music is not bad, but with the "vocals" added its just crap.
Watch The Full Performance: baeble.me/2xGFiuj
something about Ponytail makes happiness well up from inside. Its sort of like watching an child make joyful gibberish. I don't know, its just happy.
at first when i listend to this band, i liked everything but the vocals where so-so, but when i listened to there recent album all the way through, i now love the vocals. i feel there just as important as the guitar and drums to this band. It just completes it. Great band and i hope they stay !

This is just one of many reasons why I miss Baltimore. People there are weird and I love it. WHAM CITY >>--DUUUUUDE-->
i have a feeling that deerhoof and ponytail had a big group hug before.

in all fucking honesty for me molly makes this band. her yelps and noises give me this sense of just joyful expression.... This comment section is "music isn't art, it's professional corporate shit."
"oh no, I'm late for school"
I LOVE IT!!!
i love ponytail =]
i guess cuz im so abstract i really appreciate this music
This is kick arse music
Yay!
I had to put on some Diamanda Galas after this band....
Sheesh!!!
And people hated Yoko Ono....
She was just ahead of her time that's all
great!
ROCK LOBSTER!
YYY's meets Deerhoof? but nowhere near of course.
Thought they'd be good live. The album is great too.
That girl could have never gotten into a band like that and sung like that if Yoko hadn't broken the barrier for her a long time ago.
idk if i'm sensing sexism or your just really that delusional.
Perhaps both?
i feel like i just tripped on acid for 4:48... anyone second that notion?
My thoughts exactly
Kylo Ren AKA Jeremy Hyman is a beast on the fucking drums mang!
nice.
Boredoms also sounded pretty much like this as early as 1997. Not being new is not a bad thing per se.
@sereregio
When the B52's became a big hit, John Lennon said; "the girls in the B52's are imitating Yoko and everyone loves them for it. They hated Yoko for doing the same thing."
COOL
Word.
@wafflestuffer2

Sounds like a mix between The Pixies, Melt Banana and Mr. Bungle.
@HugeGene haha i cant agree more
Did this page sneak up on you while you weren't looking and force its way into your ears?
Deerhoof, protect ya neck.
i agree
I see pretty girls everywhere i go i see pretty girls everywhere i go...
At The Mall! In The Car!
ha ha ha hahaha...lmfao man...heheha ..
Do ANY of their song have actual lyrics?
lets jump babe
This is fucking cool
@Cadmium77 dont even compare Yoko with this,COME ON!
just wanted to point out that you're insinuating that the only difference between ponytail and nickelback is the vocals
yma sumac joins a rock band.I like them a lot.Molly's stage bit is what_I need to pee so bad?
It's like they attempt to be some kind of a dadaist band, yet they approach it in a completely soulless hipster way.
IN-FUCKING-TERESTING.
no I was kidding.
@LD25Delta9 lmao imagine someone else was saying this to you, "i'm one of the most eclectic individuals on face of this planet..." frank zappa, who's that?? you're a major individual! ...accept that you are a tool. embrace it. own it.
lol yea
while i love lightning bolt, they have literally nothing in common with ponytail.
I wish them the best, bless their hearts. This is a very good age we live in where even those with mental challenges can live their dreams. Sure she can't speak any known language, but bless her little heart that she is trying to make a mark on the world.
so very very
@astroblackable agreed that crowd sucks. ponytail is just so sick
Soo fucking tru man
To each his own, I guess... well I'm certainly not one of those each and this surely isn't my own. If you can like this more power to you (I really wanted to) but echhhhhhh (puking sound)
In order to enjoy this song, you must ingest every single drug in the city of Amsterdam
riiide thaaat howsey cow girl , when jacj gonna pop out of box, nice feed back like to hear deeper drums
You mean beyond -your- comprehension; or your lack of it, actually. Zappa died almost 20 years ago, by the way, so maybe it's time to get a little bit more eclectic and renew your tastes.
there's not one close-up shot of the singer
NO WAY!!! SO DID III!!!!
Bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad shit bad bad baddddddddddddddd. I kind of want to die, come back as a ghost, and rip out ITS vocal chords for making me kill myself in the first place. And then show the world what good music sounds like.

Animal Collective now sounds like Bach.
haha so you think the drums and guitars that bad? lol
@Cadmium77 i disagree.
ummm....
@Cadmium77 yeah, but Yoko never had the power or energy that this girl has, come on,its not even close.yoko was just annoying people
You see, there's the good way to do this and the bad way to do this. The good way would be Life Without Buildings (Although she actually sings words there) and the bad way would be this.

I like it, but it's not that original anymore, is it? There are two Brians (LB) who can do everything this band (& much more, for MY taste) does and they're just two lads..
@sethjones333 statement = grammar
do us a favour, go to school!
This is....how to put it...Im not a fan. I get that they're trying to push the boundries of music, and be different, but there is such a thing as trying too hard. The guitrist isnt half bad.
its a girl. when i saw them i was confused the whole show.
It sounds like the musical stylings of helen keller
Half of the people that actually comment don't know how to play a instrument or do anything and the other half are 30 to 40 year old still worried about hipsters because they're burnt out retire from the scene bum. your wife is calling you to make cookies for your sons field trip tomorrow. Instrumentally they sound fine, but my god that woman has to keep her mouth shut.
what the fuck is goin on here?
I'd rather listen to jibberish than the bullshit lyrics that 99% of bands write.
this band mightn't be half bad if not for that ridiculous noise coming out of that girl's mouth.
I can't judge if they make good or bad music, but I just don't like this kind of music.
yeh...i caught these dudes on Fuel the other day....i have never laughed so hard..i've been a musician since the age of 8 and have gig'd around Texas and Mexico, sold out venues, and have seen some interesting bands...but this band if FTL....i seriously didn't know if i should cry fro them after i heard them...someone needs to let them know...they are bad...my band in the 5th grade actually played better music than this...lol...seriously...bad..thnx
wtf,.....shite
good musician, but the vocals are atrocious!!!
that sucked
wow how can anyone enjoy this music, that vocalist (though thats giving her way too much credit) is just garbage. im all for people trying to do somehting new and innovated with music, but man it just sounds terrible. this is just an example of someone trying to hard to be different. the music is not bad, but with the "vocals" added its just crap.
The instruments are decent, but this banshee may be the most irritating "singer" I've ever heard.
wow.. this is horrible.
terrible.
ahh this sucks.
i could do without the vocals. they seemed to serve no purpose.
fuck dood, your vocals must be SO bomb, plz do share, cus i think she's great.
