@@josephgarza934 First off, yes, when it comes to route running, Marvin Harrison was unmatched. Every corner that went up against him said the same thing. The first 10 yards of every route he ran looked exactly the same and they had no idea what route he was going to run. He also had some of the sickest double moves that had corners biting hard and left them in the dust. Second, the best corners of the era Harrison played in all said the same thing, he was the hardest receiver to defend against. Players like Champ Bailey and Charles Woodson who went up against receivers like Moss and TO both said that Harrison was the most difficult to guard against. Marvin was the best of his era and the best CBs in the game backed it up with their testimonials

+bonk caesar This is best WRs of the 2000s. Carter was gone after 2001 and his 2001 season was lackluster, getting less than 1000 yards.
Wayne got to Indy in 2001 and was there with Harrison and Manning until Harrison retired in 2008.
Moss had one year of an aging Cris Carter, in the 2000s, playing alongside at a high level. The rest of his career he was THE man.
Harrison had Wayne putting up HOF stats for 8 years of the 2000s. My point is still more than valid.

Marvin deserves it. This is a talent ranking. It’s production ranking. Marvin was THEE most consistent WR in that era. You don’t control who throws you the ball. Your job is to catch and run. Let’s be very real, TO has more drops than any receiver in the top 10 and it’s not even close. Moss was thrown the ball in Oakland and had plenty drops. If you’re a top 5 receiver all time and the ball hits your hands, you catch it. Marvin deserves to be 1 on this particular list.

He was great no doubt but Peyton was so good that he had one on one coverage and excellent passing to enhance his numbers that's mainly it. Calvin Johnson with Peyton in his prime would have destroyed the record books more than Harrison did. Even Larry Fitzgerald would be ahead of Harrison in my opinion. The Peyton factor is too huge for him to be ahead of so many other more deserving players. List is bullshit. Once again the old boring media wants to make a point of the quiet guy. Such bullshit. Plus it's bullshit that Terrell Owens is not in the hall of fame. If he doesn't get in next year it'll be another black mark on the hall of shame. R. I. P. There's a difference between being the guy they were talking about and always wanting the ball.
How many times did you see Marvin throwing a fit because Wayne or Clark got the ball?
Imagine the blowups Moss or T.O. would've had if they had a WR opposite the field putting up HOF numbers. They could barely handle being THE guy.

clutchthepearls but they did opposites guys putting up those numbers. moss played opposite a hofer in Chris Carter and a perennial 100 catch guy in wes welker. TO has played opposite Terry Glenn Roy Williams Chad johnson and Jerry rice. All these receivers wanted the ball on every play and made sure their QBs knew it. Just because you're quiet doesn't mean you're selfless and being loud doesn't mean youre not a team guy.

In the 2000s (I'm counting 2000 and not counting 2010 -- if you disagree with that, fine, but that gives Marvin one more year he wouldn't have if we did it the other way around), Marvin Harrison caught 791 balls for 10,439 yards and 95 touchdowns. That's pretty good.
Randy Moss caught 777 balls for 11,739 yards and 120 touchdowns.
Marvin Harrison had one quarterback for that stretch of time, one of the greatest of all time, Peyton Manning.
Randy Moss had Daunte Culpepper, Todd Bouman, Spergeon Wynn, Gus Frerotte, Kelly Campbell, Marques Tuiasosopo, Aaron Brooks, Andrew Walter, Tom Brady, and Matt Cassel as his quarterbacks.

One thing that wasn't pointed out in the video wasn't just having Peyton Manning for all but two seasons, but the fact that Marvin Harrison was a ghost in the playoffs. In 16 postseason games Marvin only has one 100 yard game and two TDs with both coming in the same game. That's pretty bad. Part of the reason is because he wasn't known for being a physical WR so he often got punked by more physical CBs such as Ty Law and Ike Taylor. He was a great WR but no way should he be higher than Moss or Owens two receivers that put up big numbers with damn near anyone behind center (minus Moss' years in Oakland).
