That's what makes Madness Comabt so awesome is the more the series progresses, the more complex it gets. Not just in terms of story, but the backgrounds and character designs also.
I love Hanks raction to when Tricky is absorbed. He picks up Sanford like a child and rushes for the ladder to get away. He knows something bad just happened.
I appreciate the amount of effort and time it must've taken Krinkels to animate the Auditor, the flame effects whenever he shape shifts and attacks looks dope. Hope we get to see more of him in MC12.
He actually regained his intellect when he grabbed the Auditor’s halo and he didn’t had 3 units of intellect, his intellect was actually reduced to 1/3
these little moments like Sanford playing rock-paper-scissors with Hank to know who goes in the hole first are what makes the series a thousand times better, makes the characters feel actually alive

I like how this shows the Auditor isn’t invincible. Powerful? Yes. Otherworldly? Absolutely. Intelligent and skilled? 100%. But there are ways to hurt him. To *scare* him. Which makes his victories over other opponents feel more earned.
The fact that he hid in a bunker, and that he issued multiple commands, does a lot to prove this. Also since he issues commands, it's a good way to show that he is basically the hacker in the matrix.
Another neat little detail I’ve only just noticed (nearly a decade and still missing things), after punching the agent at 3:52 Hank holds his arm in pain. It’s easy to overlook but obviously having it shot loads and having a new hand grow from the bloody stump would make it sensitive. Just another sign of polish from Krinkels

the knocked out people in this series are among the luckiest people to have survived the onslaught Hank, his friends, and the antagonists ever. they get knocked out, hope they don't get transformed into a zombie or possessed then they can go home safe to their family and live to tell the tale.
can we just take a moment to appreciate how Sanford ALWAYS goes for the simpler weapons and sticks with them? hook, knives and pistols mostly. and yet still is the only one that hasn't yet died even once so far? (I'm at 5:04 btw so idk if that will change this episode but STILL.) 10 episodes in not counting half episodes and i am entirely certain that he is more powerful than Deimos and hank and only is downplayed by his choice of weapon. surviving with only the simplest of weapons is an incredible feat.
@@guncatto2625 if it were as simple as it being because it weighs less, he is either very smart or weak. the latter of which I do not believe because like I stated, he has survived for a long time now. also, the time stamp you gave proved your point no more than it proves my own. it just shows him picking up the pistol. which proves nothing.
Survivability has little to do with power scaling. Sanford and Deimos simply rarely encountered the two people that regularly killed Hank: Jebus and Tricky, who were definitely above Sanford and Deimos's pay grade; in their one encounter with Tricky, they escaped through a hole in the wall and Tricky decided that chasing them wasn't worth it, and I don't think they ever met Jeb. Deimos died because he was distracted, but Sanford survived due to a combination of luck (the Possessed Engineers retreating for some reason) and good situational awareness, along with getting the drop on some of his enemies. He's not "more powerful" than Hank, who only was killed by really powerful people like Tricky, Jebus, and his own suicide vest, but he's competent and a decent team player who is at his best when working with a partner who complements his strengths and weaknesses.
I forget where, but I believe it's been stated that Sanford specializes in melee. He might go for simple weapons simply because he's more skilled with them.

Also yes, there WAS Deimos body lying in the rock before he was knocked out of purgatory. Another fun fact - at 0:45 Auditor shows tricky's future form - Giant skeleton. This really reminds it.

One detail a lot of people missed I think, is how Sanford learns that he cannot help Hank with the Auditor. After his first few attempts to do something about the Auditor were met with him either being knocked away or changing almost nothing in the fight, he relegates himself to either fighting any newly arrived A.A.H.W. operatives, or simply spectating the fight between MAG Hank and the Auditor. This is especially noticed in the last scene, where round 2 with the Auditor begins. After being hit from behind by the Auditor, Sanford simply steps out of the ring and watches everything from the sidelines, keeping out of the way where necessary. So Sanford is a fast learner, and I feel like that detail was missed by many viewers.
Now we know why Deimos died. Cuz Hank must to use 2 hands to take Sanford and Deimos together and he cant grab ladder without free hand. Krinkels planned it, he knew it.

Hank injuries during this episode: 0:14 three punches and a faceburn 0:37 punch combo ( 1 big punch + 3 normal punchs) 0:40 partial loss of arm 2:24 head stab 3:54 feeling the pain 3:58 punch combo 4:02 get embedded in the wall + 2 strong punches 5:18 2 strong punches
One cool little detail I just noticed: Nexus artifact seems to boost a character’s abilities in some way, and in Hank’s case, it seems to have “fixed” an infraction. In 9.5 pt2, it seems that Antipathy Hank was the one “latched onto” and brought into Mag Hank, but this wouldn’t make sense and consternation Hank would be the one “next in line” to be revived. I think the consternation Hank replaced antipathy in the mag body when Hank grabbed the nexus artifact. At the start (and end of 9) Hank is much more violent and easy to act, not giving much time for thought, instead only really thinking about whoever’s in front of him (as seen in 9, going after the full crowd of agents then the mag agent instead of worrying about the auditor), and further evidence shows that he’s simply thinking of the best way to kill (example pipe bomb then slicing up the mag agent). But once he grabs the artifact, he’s much more careful in his actions, instead thinking of the best possible action in the situation Plus, if I am right, and consternation swapped with antipathy, it’s also shown with mag Hank essentially being taken aback by grabbing the artifact, it’s consternation Hank taking in essentially “oh shit I’m back to real life, I’m big, and I have this weird arm thing… alright”
The common theory that I've seen is that when Hank grabbed the Nexus artifact, it merged both of his selves back together, restoring Hank's different S3LFs. At least again, that's just the theory I saw floating around
I like how Hank and Sanford in the middle of all the madness that ensues still have decent enough senses of humor to play rock, paper, scissors to see who goes into the mysterious hole first

Honestly, this episode is similar to Madness Combat 4 in that it makes for a pretty decent stopping point. Jebus is dead, Tricky (presumably) destroys himself and the Auditor in a clown-shaped explosion, and Hank and Sanford just barely escape the climactic confrontation with the Auditor with their lives. As far as the viewer would know, the AAHW would effectively be decapitated, so as long as Hank and Sanford survive the ladder climb, they'd basically be in the clear after dealing with any possible stragglers. Of course, Expurgation happens after this, so we know what happens next, but assuming you stopped here and didn't watch past this episode, this would probably be a pretty satisfying ending - the music helps a lot in that regard. Of course, this is just my opinion.
I agree with you. Episode 8 is another point where the series could have ended, with the normality blast wiping out all of Nevada. "And then there were none..."
The reason why all of the madness happened was because of the beatbox.. if the guy had just given hank that beatbox... the improbability drive would not have been activated in the first place.
The music fits this perfectly, really showing the magnitude of the situation. This series holds a special place in my heart and I thank both you and Cheshyre for the dedication put into this series.

thoughts as a first time viewer: while it obviously can't live up to 9.5 (i've gotta assume that's a newer episode made out of order), this one is still fantastic in its own right. really pushing the story forward, just like 9 did. we've been through a lot with all these characters and you can really feel them change over time. the auditor is now the big main threat, and it's awesome to see what he's actually capable of. and of course, that ending makes me super excited for 11...

can we just take a moment to appreciate how Sanford ALWAYS goes for the simpler weapons and sticks with them? hook, knives and pistols mostly. and yet still is the only one that hasn't yet died even once so far? (I'm at 5:04 btw so idk if that will change this episode but STILL.) 10 episodes in not counting half episodes and i am entirely certain that he is more powerful than Deimos and hank and only is downplayed by his choice of weapon. surviving with only the simplest of weapons is an incredible feat.
I think they just weigh less.
also a prime example of this is at 4:44 he doesn't take any of the big guns in there he just sticks with his pistol.
@@guncatto2625 if it were as simple as it being because it weighs less, he is either very smart or weak. the latter of which I do not believe because like I stated, he has survived for a long time now. also, the time stamp you gave proved your point no more than it proves my own. it just shows him picking up the pistol. which proves nothing.
Survivability has little to do with power scaling. Sanford and Deimos simply rarely encountered the two people that regularly killed Hank: Jebus and Tricky, who were definitely above Sanford and Deimos's pay grade; in their one encounter with Tricky, they escaped through a hole in the wall and Tricky decided that chasing them wasn't worth it, and I don't think they ever met Jeb. Deimos died because he was distracted, but Sanford survived due to a combination of luck (the Possessed Engineers retreating for some reason) and good situational awareness, along with getting the drop on some of his enemies. He's not "more powerful" than Hank, who only was killed by really powerful people like Tricky, Jebus, and his own suicide vest, but he's competent and a decent team player who is at his best when working with a partner who complements his strengths and weaknesses.
I forget where, but I believe it's been stated that Sanford specializes in melee. He might go for simple weapons simply because he's more skilled with them.

Legends say hank and stanford are still climbing the ladder to this day.
One detail a lot of people missed I think, is how Sanford learns that he cannot help Hank with the Auditor. After his first few attempts to do something about the Auditor were met with him either being knocked away or changing almost nothing in the fight, he relegates himself to either fighting any newly arrived A.A.H.W. operatives, or simply spectating the fight between MAG Hank and the Auditor. This is especially noticed in the last scene, where round 2 with the Auditor begins. After being hit from behind by the Auditor, Sanford simply steps out of the ring and watches everything from the sidelines, keeping out of the way where necessary. So Sanford is a fast learner, and I feel like that detail was missed by many viewers.

One cool little detail I just noticed:
Nexus artifact seems to boost a character’s abilities in some way, and in Hank’s case, it seems to have “fixed” an infraction.
In 9.5 pt2, it seems that Antipathy Hank was the one “latched onto” and brought into Mag Hank, but this wouldn’t make sense and consternation Hank would be the one “next in line” to be revived. I think the consternation Hank replaced antipathy in the mag body when Hank grabbed the nexus artifact.
At the start (and end of 9) Hank is much more violent and easy to act, not giving much time for thought, instead only really thinking about whoever’s in front of him (as seen in 9, going after the full crowd of agents then the mag agent instead of worrying about the auditor), and further evidence shows that he’s simply thinking of the best way to kill (example pipe bomb then slicing up the mag agent). But once he grabs the artifact, he’s much more careful in his actions, instead thinking of the best possible action in the situation
Plus, if I am right, and consternation swapped with antipathy, it’s also shown with mag Hank essentially being taken aback by grabbing the artifact, it’s consternation Hank taking in essentially “oh shit I’m back to real life, I’m big, and I have this weird arm thing… alright”
The common theory that I've seen is that when Hank grabbed the Nexus artifact, it merged both of his selves back together, restoring Hank's different S3LFs.
At least again, that's just the theory I saw floating around

Honestly, this episode is similar to Madness Combat 4 in that it makes for a pretty decent stopping point. Jebus is dead, Tricky (presumably) destroys himself and the Auditor in a clown-shaped explosion, and Hank and Sanford just barely escape the climactic confrontation with the Auditor with their lives. As far as the viewer would know, the AAHW would effectively be decapitated, so as long as Hank and Sanford survive the ladder climb, they'd basically be in the clear after dealing with any possible stragglers.
Of course, Expurgation happens after this, so we know what happens next, but assuming you stopped here and didn't watch past this episode, this would probably be a pretty satisfying ending - the music helps a lot in that regard.
Of course, this is just my opinion.

The reason why all of the madness happened was because of the beatbox.. if the guy had just given hank that beatbox... the improbability drive would not have been activated in the first place.
The music fits this perfectly, really showing the magnitude of the situation. This series holds a special place in my heart and I thank both you and Cheshyre for the dedication put into this series.

while it obviously can't live up to 9.5 (i've gotta assume that's a newer episode made out of order), this one is still fantastic in its own right. really pushing the story forward, just like 9 did. we've been through a lot with all these characters and you can really feel them change over time. the auditor is now the big main threat, and it's awesome to see what he's actually capable of. and of course, that ending makes me super excited for 11...
