- Showing how to illuminate the dashboard also called the instrument panel as well as dim the instrument panel lighting. This particular model is a 2018 Ford escape Basic model. This video is for entertainment purposes only please read your owners manual before operating your vehicle or trying to fix it yourself. I recommend that you allow a certified to mechanic to do any sort of operation on your car and should not do-it-yourself. .

In the stereo settings you can change the color, just set it to the dimmest setting, the red in the handles will always be on when the door is open though

What I wont to know is how to wire in shifter light for park r, n,d,2, I have a 2018 Ford escape took it back to dealer and they said mine dont have a light in. Only the syn 3 with the big screen escapes have them. So I ordered the light for Ford escape 29.00 but I need to know the color of the wire to make it light up iam wiring the light into the brake switch or the USB port. Iam bern looking ever were and can find any information on own to put in shifter light.

@@DIYPinto Hi. Yes I did. I was imagining there being back lighting. Turns out in my vehicle, there never was lighting installed. So I was seeing them only in my mind.
on my 2017, it still has a key, not a fob. It looks like if you hit the lock button on the key it will turn the dome lights off with the hatch open.

Do you know if there’s a way to dim the CarPlay screen but keep the instrument panel bright? They seem to be married together in my 2019 Escape, but the CarPlay screen is just too bright for night time driving... thanks!

You can go into Settings and change your Display to Night Mode, or there should be an option for Automatic Day/Night (this will change it based on the sensor on the dash, like the AutoOn Headlights, and it'll switch over on its own).
Car on>Settings>Display>Night Mode
I believe it's that easy? I always keep mine in Night Mode as I agree it is just way too bright in general.
Also, if you use Android Auto (plug your phone into the USB inside the center console) there is a setting in Android Auto to have the vehicle display screen follow whatever your phone display is set to. I use Night mode on my phone 24/7 as well, so it always stays dark.
Another Tip: Google Maps in Android Auto has the option to change the map setting display in your Escape to follow the car settings, or your phone settings, so you can adjust it directly on the Google Maps display in your car by pressing the "settings cog/wheel" when your phone is plugged in and running Maps on your Escape display screen.

I have a 2018 but after 3 weeks the Auto lights will not stay on. I put on A and the lights will not come on. I need to put on another selection for lights to work.

anyone know why whatever you set the lights to, always resets back to full bright then next time you start the vehicle? why doesn’t it remember what you set it to like other vehicles
