I had opportunity to meet Sid Bernstein at a Beatles fest in Chicago...I spent some time with him but not enough time to ask some vital questions...but he was extremely courteous and friendly...I would've loved to have delved into his history...like did he bring the Stones or Led Zeppelin too...and did he do the Beatles at Washington Coliseum etc...
Nice words about Brian. He was one of the many blessings the Beatles received. His focus was on the group and its success. Not a mercenary bone in his body. He was naive in dealing with the avaricious merchandisers and such but it was at his direction that they wore suits and honed their stage presence. God bless him!
Despite being a troubled man emotionally, he was a tranquil and fair businessman. He had the business vision the Beatles were lacking and came to them at the right time to maximize their earning potential. The Beatles understood this more and more as time passed and were extremely appreciative of Brian.
Brian really was an honest decent guy. And everyone was pissed that the Beatles had been offered to them and they refused, and That Brian turned out to be right about the Beatles. and once they had he were famous beyond any expectation, these losers then all wanted the Beatles and wanted Brian to sell them and the business. Brian was killed because he would not see to Stigwood and those behind him from above. May Brian's enemies rot in hell!
Every genius talent the Beatles, Presley others never changes its spots. The sense of self is so profound. This is what astonishes. This is what generates pandemonium. This is what transfixes audiences. This is what sustains. The big difference between Liza Minnelli and Judy Garland is the difference between ambition and genius. Liza is a slugger. She is ambitious. Garland is effortlessly flawless. She is a genius. Ever hear the stories about audiences rapt by a JG concert? I attended one in 1957 and can confirm it. People were mesmerized, absolutely mesmerized. It WAS a religious experience and one envied I suspect by Billy Graham.
Brian Epstein deserves these eloquent and lovely words coming from Mr. Bernstein. Truly a fitting tribute to a real gentleman.

The fact is the real leader of the Beatles was neither John or Paul but Brian.
