pnetwork it's made by GM co. Same people behind Chev/Holden etc. looks great but is definitely not to its true Abarth roots Simply reserecting an old name for the sake Quality doesn't look anything flash inside and with tacky semigloss matte on the trunk and hood Not a true Fiat but nice car hope I'm privileged enough to drive it one day 👍
Alessio Vigna didn't know that personally have been reading that from some obviously incorrect websites Thanks for the heads up It's just past Alfa Romeo fiat holden everything GM just has a dull vibe Glad to hear this car reflects its true character 👍👌
Although the 1.4 multiair is used in some dodge and jeep products it is a member of Fiat's FIRE engine family. And in this case final factory tuning done by Abarth
I am a diehard Miata guy... I've had 6. Two of each gen, drove the ND. If I were to buy another convertible it would most definitely be the 124. The fact it uses 90% Miata guts, including the better 6 speed transmission from the NC (compared to the ND, that's why it doesn't have more power, because the tranny can't take it)... It looks better, and IMHO is the NC Mazdaspeed we never got. Hope Fiat releases a removable hardtop for this bad boy so I can start saving.
I had one for 3 years. Sold it again and the graph is exactly what it felt like: nice punch from rpm 2500‘ish to 4000ish. After that it felt like „im outa breath“ and acceleration got worse. Thats why i switched to 2L mx5 nd3.
Craig Freger since it is on a chassis dyno I'm going to have to assume it's at the wheels. If it were at the crank the engine would be put on an engine dyno outside of the car.
To get this performance in the mx5 would be more expencive. will the standard (non Abarth) 124 perfom equally With this Stage 1 ECU remap and using the same exhaust system ?
As the other user correctly stated, this is the EMEA version, so it has the Record Monza exhaust as standard (in North America it is available as a Mopar aftermarket component)
@@jameschen2942 Well, the thing with the 124 is that the Record Monza exhaust has a valve that will only open under pressure (so unless you are cruising in the 5-6k rpm range it won't be too noticeable.) Also, keep in mind that this valve can also get stuck shut, when was the last time you oiled the valve? I daily one of these too - it is loud now but it's even louder with the mods I've got on it
For 30k you can buy something more powerful and fun, no thanks Fiat. Any smart person with 30k would buy a Toyota Supra or Nissan or a collectors car with more power than this junk!
It's only 4 cylinder and sounds better than any other car, not even a mustang or Camaro does that kind of sounds, and they're v6 V8, too much difference
It’s not all about horsepower....For you, it may be all about HP, but for others, it is about the driving experience, the handling, the looks, the open top.
@@quakerome4594 Well, the world is your oyster! Go get your M3, or your Mustang, or your Supra! BTW - What do you drive? I drive a 2017 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth. The addition of the Goodwin Racing full exhaust really enhanced the sound of the vehicle and opened up some HP and torque at the low end, so the car is even more responsive than before. It is a blast to drive on canyon roads or even to the supermarket. I've had many occasions where car guys have asked me what it is and have had wonderful conversations about it. The fact that you can get a fun to drive car like this for ~$30K US is a great deal.
It's not about numbers, it's about the feeling of an Abarth. Simply amazing.

Matthew, I don't know who delivered you this info, but none of it is correct. GM is not involved in this project at all.

I think you're getting GM confused with chrysler. Fiat is owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as I'd Alfa. They've never been a GM company.
Abarth engines sound great
Its exhaust not engine;)
***Dodge engine

Beauty and power!
That's really impressive gains from just a remap. I was expecting just more peak hp but thats everywhere.
Just wet myself! What a GORGEOUS sound.

Sound like MEGANE 3 RS !! ;o Awesome !!
Is that 192 hp at the crank or the wheels?
Craig Freger since it is on a chassis dyno I'm going to have to assume it's at the wheels. If it were at the crank the engine would be put on an engine dyno outside of the car.
Or you could measure whp and then pick random "powertrain loss" number to adjust for and claim 192 crank hp
Anton Polishko most likely this!
at crank , see the graph at the video, compare with the stock 170hp crank, fiat should use the 1750 240cv on this abarth version not the 1.4
yeah itll be rwhp
This has the manual from the NC miata, correct? What was the top speed as tested in 2nd gear?
To get this performance in the mx5 would be more expencive.

same engine on both en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_124_Spider_(2016)
No ;)
MX5 = 30 000€ Abarth = 40 000€ :)
Michael Christopher All 124 Spiders have turbos
Wow...good job...
Did you switch out the halogens? I love the headlights
When are the 991.2 Turbo S POV's coming in, Nick?
POV video will be online next week. Stay tuned! :)
Almost 200bhp is very nice.
Is this US version 124 with stock exhaust? Really nice!
iamJP no, it's euro version
As the other user correctly stated, this is the EMEA version, so it has the Record Monza exhaust as standard (in North America it is available as a Mopar aftermarket component)
es el mejor sonido del 124 spider
Shame you can't hear the turbo spool the way you can on the 500.
Is this car available in the USA?
Yes! I saw one a few weeks ago near DC
How is this a Dino?
sounds like a Toyota at high speed
Toyota actually sounds really nice at high rpms. It's the low rpm that makes it all fart cannon
@@ErectileSceptile I drive the Abarth 124 daily for years, it is really quite at high speed, I think Fiat intentionally make it quite on highway

Kenneth Larsen dude, its 124 not 127...
but the roof is not auto
HACI MURAT 124
is that a 4wd? rlly?
E.K I THINK ITS THE WAY THE DYNO IS SETUP THIS CAR IS RWD
Scott A thx bro i didn't know 👍
Emrullah KIRTEPE Yeah they do that now because the newer cars will flip out if the backs only spinning but not the front. The ECU doesn't like it.
never heard of it
wait..fiat?
yes theres the base model fiat 124 spider and then the performance model is the abarth 124 spider.
audio quality isn't very good :/
