They way he explains what the film is about it's better than the whole movie itself, it's a mix of an ambitious project, wasted potential and bad decisions..VERY bad decisions.
The movie would have been critically better but... The reshoots are what added the humor and the movie would have been just like all these other dark psudoedgy "antihero" films of the past.
for me one of the biggest problems of this movie is the way introduces its characters, 30 minutes of cool music, flashy colors and too much information then leaving no space for any surprise nor character developement after the first act
I was watching it on Netflix and actually turned it off after Waller introduced Enchantress. I intended to go back to it (that was about 3 weeks ago). It just felt... irrelevant.
FizzyIzzy agreed movie had so many other options and potential, the 3 main characters that had something were Diablo(his family) Harley(a normal life or I guess joker?) deadshot (his daughter) but then again warner bro’s are awful
I think that's why people are so angry about DC movies lately. They come SO CLOSE to having a point or a message, but fail to bring it across in one way or another. The huge divide between a lot of people who watch these movies have points to that as well. I don't like Suicide Squad because it fails at setting up character, context, and world. The makeup was alright most of the time, and the effects were ok most of the time though. So someone going into the movie only looking for that will get what they want, mostly. It's the same when it comes to philosophy and reading said philosophy.
Suicide squad was never going to work out from the start. The whole point of having a suicide squad is to fill in the grey area that super hero's are unwilling to cross. Yet in this universe both batman and superman seem to have no issue in killing their enemies! Secondly they are the metahuman equivalent of a black ops team, therefore their missions should focus on dealing with issues that would cause a shit storm if the public found out about (government deniability/team being disposable). This film should be called 'Slave Heroism'..
Superman only killed Zod when there was no other choice within the limits of his morality, and Batman stopped killing with a sloppily handled character arc in Batman v Superman
That's what the comics and other adaptations are about as opposed to this film which gets the Suicide Squad concept completely wrong which is yet ANOTHER example of how people making DCEU doesn't understand their source material.
Diablos part on "I lost my family, I ain't going to lose another one" was too cringe. He didn't even spend a whole night with the squad. Not even that but he had a whole not of negativity to say to everyone at the beginning of their mission.
The DCEU is the biggest miss opportunity ever so far. It's full of SO MANY interesting and thought-provoking ideas but the execution all round has been god awful.
What went wrong? Lmfao what didn't? You wanna fix Suicide Squad and act like this shit didn't happen? Then I got you: -This should NEVER have been an end of the world movie. They should've faced a mob boss that has something Waller needs and that's it. Make it like The Raid where they face waves of goons. No Enchantress bullshit -Make them feel like villains!!! As much as I love Will Smith, he loves playing characters that people will love. Well tough shit cause Deadshot is a scumbag. Suicide Squad felt like anti-heroes vs villains and that's wrong. They're the bad guys! -Give the writer more than 6 weeks to write a summer blockbuster.... The writing is pure shit and it shows -Make your characters useful. Katana and Rick Flag were USELESS!
Alex Love Perfectly Said! Biggest sin was making the film a PG13 Hero film, and not making it the R Villain film we all expected it to be. When I see Killer Croc being advertised in the film, I fucking expect to see Croc eat people to an oblivion! Hell introduce new villains Like Black Mask, Riddler, Hush. Have ONE mob boss fighting the squad. Have more casualties. Have the squad break from within like in the animated Film. Instead of having Joker break Quinn out of jail, It shouldve been Poison Ivy. It wouldve helped the film more, If it had went an alternative route from your average Hero film
Alex Love The main problem was the fact that DC didn't plan out their EU properly, seriously another movie other than about the Suicide Squad would have made more sense.
Yep, I've said the same, countless times. Why make it "end of the world"? The Suicide Squad was supposed to be a ragtag team of death row walking fuck-ups who were basically cannon fodder. Throw them in a situation where morality is grey and see if they get the job done. Worst case, you blow them all up when shit goes south and nobody in the world cares because "they're just bad guys". A better setting would have been the Squad sent to infiltrate a secret base that was doing bad things (human experiments, nuclear testing, whatever. Just bad things). They break in under the objective to kill everybody and burn everything, but they find out along the way that the people making them do this are also the people that are funding this base. They were sent in to clean up their mess, knowing full well that the Squad is expendable. So it becomes a moral dilemma for a group of people that have no moral compass. The question becomes what would you do for freedom? The Squad becomes tied in a conflict in a no-win situation, with the climax/conclusion being that they do what's morally "right", even if the bad people stay in power. They all grow from this, where Deadshot breaks his fixation away from Batman, Quinn steps out under the shadow of the Joker and becomes her own thing, etc. Slipknot still gets killed cuz fuck that guy. What a L O S E R
You forgot to mention how ridiculous was the evil brother. At first, he was slamming cars, buildings and people like a Titan! But against the protagonist "I better use my fists and kicks!".
Simple, his energy waned. Or did you need that explained to you more than when Enchantress had to power him up. But I suppose it's fine for Iron Man to power down when fighting Bucky+Cap, or Ronan getting weaker vs the Guardians, or Ultron etc etc. Idiot.
+eduardo serrano are you serious? Are you arguing against "convenience" in a fictional work? Worse yet, in a superhero fictional work? No "pts of convenience" in the MCU, or Sony or Fox films? Don't be a hypocrite.
ROFL. No +christian sanz. Movies get "called bad" because "idiots like you" either: 1 - have biased (sometimes hypocritical) opinions 2 - are too stupid to figure things out
if the Joker was the main villain, it would have been a better story. remove the enchantress, and make the Joker the main villain, and it would have been way better
Problem is, though, the Joker is almost a hero in this. He might have abused Harley in the beginning, but throughout the film he does everything he can to protect her from exploitation by people who value her life not a whit. The Enchantress makes a much better antagonist because, as a goddess, she cannot comprehend human morality; she cannot be reasoned with, and must be thoroughly, satisfactorily destroyed. But there's a problem there, too. Even though she wants to kill us all, we still sympathize with the Enchantress because she is kept in bondage by Amanda Waller - arguably the TRUE villain of this story - and because we never forget that the body she's inhabiting is that of Dr. June Moon, the most innocent and sympathetic character in the whole movie except for Floyd Lawton's daughter. True, Dr. Moon is NOT the Enchantress and is in fact one of her victims, but the Enchantress takes on Moon's physical form and so we naturally conflate the two.
skrichard the nostalgia critic already did that, it's just the movie being an emotionless plot dump, I don't think it needs philosophical analysis to know that
Simple: Shyamalan didn't even really work with what he was given. I mean, c'mon, you're working on a live action adaptation of a show with elemental martial arts n' crud. I don't know how in God's name anyone could make that one of the most boring live action movies but Shyamalan managed to do it.
The proper Way to do the "Avatar: The last Airbender" would be 5 part movie. 1 movie solely dedicated to learning one of the 4 elements, while facing the adversities he show pushed, while also having the 5th being dedicated to the final days before the big battle and final battle
watching the DCEU is like watching the prequels...which is like being in an abusive relationship. I just keep coming back, telling myself it'll be better next time. sigh. c'mon Wonder Woman.
+RavenFal You may have thought that Dawn of Justice was amazing, but most people didn't. You say that Civil War was a disappointment as if it is a generally known fact, when it was really the best received superhero movie of the past year by both critics and audiences.
Even if the studio hadn't meddled the three main sins the movie mad would have remained. 1. The Joker is a common gangster. And I don't care about his appearance, I kind of liked it, so I don't mean the tattoos or the grill. He had common motivations, his plot involvement was common. The Joker should be anything but a common gangster. 2. The Villain uprooted the sense of grit and grounded brutality any antihero movie should have. Writing in as fantastical a villain as you could find did two things. It subverted any question the viewer might have had about the 'heroes' morality, because an ancient mummy witch demon is always the worse of two evils. And gave too much gravitas to a weight to a plot that could have been all together lighter, funnier, more brutal and more tragic, with a focus on natural character development. The finished product is a big heavy freight train of half baked importance and rushed climax. 3. This could be an extension of 2 but it gets its own thing because it's most important. They dropped the anti from antihero. Your number one fuckin job in a movie about villains is to make the viewers feel absolutely guilty for how much they come to love them. Make them villains. Make them bad people who I can empathize with and cheer for. I bet 50% of the dialogue in the movie was devoted to reminding us that these are bad guys. You shouldn't have to devote one line to that. Show that to me. Show me how twisted and tragic and funny and whip-smart Harley Quinn is. Don't give me 5 seconds of an almost inhuman Deadshot to show me how deadly he is. Give me 90 minutes of cold, calculating brutality and a desire to use that to his own ends. You had the chance to make the one of the best comic book adaptations in DC movie history AND you had that chance AFTER the Punisher came to Daredevil; one of the best villains I've grown to love stories ever. Inexcusable to miss any of these things, and you missed them all.
Decker Farris for point #1, film theory did a pretty good explanation of why joker was the way he was. He wasn't based on bronze/modern age joker, which is the psychotic one that we're used to. He was based on the golden age joker, the same one Jack Nicholson was based on.
tho the joker in the animated series was a gangster, he was also a gangster in tim burtons batman. but those were actually done good. this joker would not even be enough to like the sole of their shoes, he is just a cannon fodder thug.
Point #2 bothered me so much man lol. That's my main problem with SS. I disagree with point #1 though - see Virgil Hawkins' comment. Also I actually liked Leto's Joker - not my favorite of course but I was totally on board with his characterization (his function within the final movie is more flawed but that's not Leto's fault).
My problem with suicide squad was the fact that the movie didnt explored the teams core motivation well enough, at least not on how the comic book does, they are supposed to be a kinda black ops team to do dirty missions, if the mission goes south, they can let them die, or simply deny accountability, this could have been way better if the threat wasnt a magic cgi bullshit villain, a normal operation on foreign soil, would have been great, perhaps infiltrating a country where the US isnt allowed , and do a very dangerous more grounded mission. Heck you have the joker in it, why not use him as the main villain, that could have worked too instead of enchantress. The script of this movie was rushed to a point many things didnt made sense, starting for the motivation they used for forming the group in the movies. If any of this jackasses try to fight a superman like threat, they would have lost anyway, they arent powerful enough with the exception of enchantress and maybe diablo.
Agreed in the video they also said to consider this video as a "participation award." lol yeah right, participation award means ur guna do a video like this to EVERY SINGLE MOVIE
What I don't like about DC fans is they defend these shitty movies by saying "well the extended edition is much better because it fills in all the plot holes!" That answer is bullshit because the theatrical cut should be the best part of the movie, with deleted scenes filling in little parts here and there. You shouldn't have to buy the DVD and sit through another half hour of a shitty movie just so it can kind of redeem itself.
yea, thats partly right, but watchmen the directors cut is one of the best superhero movies. So maybe blame the shitty executives and marketing team for flushing the source material, good script and directors vision down the drain ?
Ian Ron I haven't heard anyone really defending this movie anymore... it's kinda surprising. (I don't go seeking it out, but back when people were hating on BVS, the fans came and showed themselves... not so much this time.) The only people who actually know how to defend this movie properly are the hot topic crowd. They went in for the sickly colors and punchable merchandise... they got what they came for.
This is the first movie that made me physically angry. Everything about this movie was just awful and kept telling me it was good like I'm a fucking idiot
I love how everyone keeps comparing different RUclipsrs to cinemasins even though cinemasins is just got entertainment and not supposed to be taken serious like all these other essay-analytic RUclipsrs
When you guys explain the ideas behind not only this movie, but the previous movies as well, it sounds like such a great and powerful series! Which makes me even more disappointed in the fact that they mostly fell flat. I would love to see one of these on the other DCEU movies as well.
Following this video's reasoning, I feel there are several things that could have made this movie better. -First is cutting every antihero out of it other than deadshot, harley, diablo and enchantress. -Second is making enchantress finding her little brother (age 12) and deciding to run and hide, finding some way to live her life peacefully. In this, she would seek assistance from Moone to hide in plain sight, amongst humans, creating a complex story of Flag wanting to kill enchantress but fearing to hurt Moone, Moone bothered that she's not always in control but interested in the knowledge enchantress has of the past world as an archeologist as well as feeling sympathetic to her plight as she's also not to keen on living this supernatural life. Deadshot would finally face a choice of killing someone not on his hitlist, someone whose hands haven't been dirtied and just wants to live her life normally. It would overlap with his desire to be the kind of man his daughter would be proud of. Waller would be faced with the dilemma of letting someone potentially dangerous go have a normal life and not control it. It would conflict with her problem she had with superman, a godlike creature that she couldn't control. Now she can't control enchantress either and orders her dead but will she stand by that decision till the end of the movie? Diablo could find inspiration in the cooperation enchantress and Moone are seeking to find a way to stop fearing his own power and learn to control it. Harley would face the kind of life could lead if she ever got out of her abusive relationship. We could see her deride enchantresses choice in the beginning, but ultimately deciding the kind of life she chose for herself isn't that bad. -While Harley's conflict would be "resolved" at the end of the movie, it still wouldn't be enough for her to decide to leave joker. Still, I think a trace of hesitation in greeting him in the last scene, till he asks her "aren't you glad to see me?" after not getting the enthusiastic greeting he was expecting would have gone the long way of making us root for a sequel, hinting at the possibility of Harley becoming her own villain. -If Joker wasn't just trying to desperately free Harley throughout the movie, but was also growing his army and influence by using the opportunity to also break away some other prisoners as well as Harley just to recruit them. A few cuts of him seemingly planning something menacing with them all would have left the feeling something else was happening on the big scene with the big boys, something we don't get to see yet because this movie isn't about Joker and Batman. At least not yet.
Deric James I might not understand your reference, but if you're saying the trailers we're good, that's true, but they were bait for flawed movie construction.
Christian B no, I don't go into a movie being 'overly' critical, and I like the comic, so I had high hopes for what was a year of trailers. The trailers we're better than the movie IMHO.
Margot did amazing but her dialogue was god awful. Wasn't her fault, more of the writers cough cough David Ayer. Everyone's backstory was poorly executed. Jared was an alright Joker. We can't fully judge him bc was he only in the movie for like 8-10 minutes LOL.
Lol Haha I honestly think Jared could be a really great joker if he were able to be on screen more, and I liked the chemistry (and in some flashbacks, hatred/disinterest/annoyance) that the Joker had with Harley.
Kevin kong Oh, I agree, they should have absolutely emphasized the abusive, messed up nature of the relationship... but I think they did a decent job of connecting in the very short time they had on screen together. There just wasn't enough screen time to unpack all of that.
Nicole Lee, you could argue that, but personally I think that makes Deadshot look a bit like a psychopath and throughout the whole movie, it seemed like the writers were trying to show that he WASNT psychopathic. They were trying to make him a relatable, human character (picking his daughter over killing batman and being free). So showing his ultimate goal is to kill someone who was the equivalent of a police officer ruins his character. The viewers WANT to see the paternal side of Deadshot, the one who watches over Harley Quinn like a father would (which would lead to her recognition of the unhealthy relationship she was in). That would make us care about him more and have sympathy for his struggle. But that's just my view.
Cameron McGregor I think you're right. His character in the movie confused me, either because I'm ignorant or because I viewed him different originally. If that was the writers aim for his character then killing Batman is a little offputting. I still found it ridiculously funny.
That wasn't Deadshot it was Will Smith, there's nothing even remotely similar to the comic character in this interpretation. He doesn't have the death wish that Floyd has in the comics, Deadshot is not religious in the comics yet Will Smith keeps quoting biblical nonsense, he isn't an assassin to "pay for his daughters schooling" he's an assassin and puts himself in dangerous situations because he ultimately wants to die a warriors death. Even on the most basic level this character is wrong, they couldn't even get his aim assisting eye patch on the right side of his mask, its supposed to be on his right eye as that's the eye he uses to aim down a guns sights as he is right handed.
Serious question. Seriously think about this one. Why did they bother with the suicide squad? or more accurately why for this mission? The lave brother guy? died from a bomb. The sexy dancing lady? died from a sword by Harley Quinn, a 50 kilo tiny woman. The dooms day device blew up from... another bomb. Instead of giving criminals lesser sentences and money, why not send in Rick flag with his commandos. They have the weapons. They are a well trained, organised 0 Bull shit team. They are already on government salary. I know we see regular army men dying all over but what have they done in any action movie? I sat through the whole movie thinking, why are they here.
If they had stuck to saving Amanda, this could have worked as a Suicide Squad mission. But they had to make her fight the belly dancing supervillain with a sky-beam doomsday machine which no one even tries to explain.
BvS is miles beyond this piece of crap. I actually saw BvS twice, while I couldn't even sit through Suicide Squad in one sitting, ragequitted and watched the ending a few days later...
This is another film that falls in the middle for me. I don't hate it as much as those who hate it, but I also don't love it as those who love it. I enjoyed the ride for the most part and only the Enchantress stuff didn't have much redeeming qualities. Now Fan4stic? That one lives up to the hype of hate. A good first act followed by a bad second and worse third acts.
I know, right? I thought Adam Beach's performance of Slipknot was really MIND-BLOWING. It really ROPED me into the film. When it was coming down to the WIRE, I was wondering, "But what about Slipknot?!" It was sad to see Slipknot HEADING OFF so early in the film.
The largest problem this film had was Deadpool and reshoots. There's no way the original film could be as shitty as the result of their marketing team.
RenjiMaili they only did reshoots because the original cut tested so badly. The reality is the final cut was the one that tested the best, and the other cuts probably would have been even worse (as hard as that is to believe).
That's either tragic for DC and Warner Bros. or proof they need to kick this universe down a well and reboot it without any influence from the hack that is Zack Snyder.
100% of the marketing in this movie is "Yo yo yo yo Harley Quinn so hottttttt+t+t...." Like that's a good reason to go see the movie. You can watch "hot" for FREE at home.
I know that one change they made in the final cut was the change the relationship between the Joker and Harley, because test audiences didn't like that the Joker was so abusive. For example, in the scene where Harley seems to be saved by the Joker when she falls out of the helicopter, the original cut was him pushing her off to hurt or kill her.
Me too, at least Harley had a purpose in the animated unlike her live action counterpart. Heck even the squad themselves were picked for logical reasons than the dceu.
That's because it was written intelligently. The Suicide Squad wasn't put together to combat a superhuman along the levels of Superman in the animated movie (which was pretty much the express purpose given in the live-action movie). Rather, they were put together to kill just another regular person, which makes their mission make A LOT more sense. The animated movie made the characters a lot more complex than the live-action version. First off, it didn't waste a lot of time in the beginning trying to establish each character with their own songs. Instead, they were shown to be pretty scummy, but also had their own interesting sides (like White Shark and Killer Frost's interactions). Harley had her own personality that was beginning to separate from the Joker's manipulations and Deadshot actually began to care slightly for her. Both the Joker and Batman actually had reasons to be in the animated movie, unlike the live-action version. The live-action version essentially cockteased us with the Joker and Batman was only present to punch a woman in the face and then attack a man in front of his daughter in an alley that probably looked closer to the one Batman's parents were killed in than was intended.
And it didn't made any sense is because David Goyer wrote the script in a short time before filming. THEN, Warner brought in Trailer Park to cut the footage to pieces.
Robert Redway well like... 1) the movie expects the audience not to ask "where b tha superheroes" 2) it shouldve been where the squad fights like street levelers or people that can destroy a couple buildings not some planet level destroying mummy
+The Golden Growtopian 1 - You mean like "where were the Avengers in Winter Soldier"? But yeah, that was a shit movie wasn't it? (sarcasm). Because yeah, The only established superheroes around by SS were Batman and Wonder Woman, and they didn't show up right? But Winter Soldier existed after Iron Man, War Machine, Hawkeye were introduced. (Thor I can assume was in Asgard). -- in case you miss the point - Hypocrisy 2 - Who they fought was irrelevant. The movie was about the squad members and their various personal arcs. Diablo's quest for redemption, Flag's quest to save June, June's fight with Enchantress, Harley Quinn trying to return to Joker. All of them battling against Mama Waller. (Planet level destroying mummy is no different than bullshit "infinity gems"). -- so again hypocrisy. So if it's personal bias, like what you like. Don't try to play it off as some objective fact. Not unless you're saying those MCU movies are "bad" or you're a hypocrite.
This is Jared. He's got my back. He can cut all of you in half with one sword stroke, just like mowing the lawn. I would advise not getting killed by him - his sword traps the souls of its victims.
Even with a quality theme and a proper script i'm not sure if the movie would have been "good", there were so many things that all added up to make the movie awful (i cringed most of the movie. 1) There were too many characters that served no purpose and/or were used poorly. Slipknot, Killer Croc, Katana, Diablo, Enchantress' brother, Scott Eastwood, Joker or Enchantress (addressed next) could have all been either cut (preferred) from the script or used differently. 2) The battle between director and studio strikes again. Picking either the Joker OR Enchantress as the main villain would have been better for the story and maybe given their characters some strength, instead we got two watered down villains and switching between them just slowed down the story. 3) The continual cuts to backstory were horrendous, unnecessary, filler, and just slowed down the pace of the movie. Seriously, by the time the Squad got to Enchantress i was thinking that she should have built her death machine and killed everyone by now because it feels like weeks have passed. 4) Will Smith can act and has in the past, but in this movie Will Smith is playing Will Smith and it rapidly became annoying. I wanted to see Deadshot brought to live, not Will Smith with a Deadshot costume on being Will Smith. 5) Just a general annoyance more than anything, the idea of "friendship". Diablo sacrifices himself for his "friends/family" and Harley mentions "her friends" when slashing Enchantress with the sword. I'm sorry, you're not friends or family, you've been together 10 minutes you don't know shit about each other. I didn't mention the cliche CGI army or cliche death machine in the sky because those are pretty obvious.
Will Smith has done Hancock and maybe he thinks that is how all superheroes act? The fact that he was playing a slightly drunker version of himself did not matter to a character that had little to no backstory, but when he plays Deadshot he is still Will Smith and we expect Carlton for some strange reason.
John Lim Howare those standards too high? He just seemed to be asking for sensible story structuring, editing and other basic techniques that tell the intended story in a competent way. That should be the minimum from a big production company. There's some passion and talent behind the scenes, but DC/WB keeps meddling with their vision and seems a little too concerned with speeding up the hype train. When the trailer got people's hopes up, they wanted to strike it while it was hot and got a trailer house to create the final cut from whatever was left of the film, which was an ass-backwards way of approaching the problem. You don't create a movie to imitate a trailer! So why exactly do we have to lower our standards - we should be able to assume that the studio can make better decisions and not smother original the artistic vision, and judge the result accordingly if they don't succeed. This time, the end result was a mess when it comes to editing and basic construction of the movie. I doubt the director is very happy with it either.
Suicide Squad won an Oscar for best makeup in the same year that Star Trek Beyond came out. This also means that the crap shoot DCEU has won an Oscar before the MCU, with possibly their worst movie too. How!?
Please continue with this idea! Maybe I got this wrong, but I like the idea of searching for the deeper, original meaning in movies that didn't turn out to be that good.
Waiting for someone to voice this opinion so I could thumbs up and agree. Love the idea of analyzing movies that took a left turn, but could have actually been good, especially if they are as good as this one.
Not a waste at all for those of us who want to one day make our own films and not rely on Hollywood to be the sole gatekeepers of imagination. Knowing how movies went bad, or could have been made better, is like free filmschool!
Here's how the movie went wrong. 1. David Ayer went too hot topic gangster with some of its characters 2. David Ayer was only given two weeks to write the entire script for the movie (like are fucking kidding me with that timeframe WB!?) 3. They got a trailer company to edit the film. I believe the film would have been good had all 3 of these things changed.
Hey Wisecrack! In film production and game development, we generally refer to post-production and "final cut" analysis as a "postmortem". Very appropriate for a film as dead in the water as Suicide Squad.
I wish the team stuck with their guns and made it dark and gritty and serious with a little comedy...but no they got spooked and gave us this...mothafuckas ...
brokeskull616 Well, all the Marvel fans were complaining about how they didn't laugh in Man of Steel and BvS and how they "glorified" darkness and brooding, and how confusing BvS was, so bye bye dark Joker scenes and an actual plot and hello straight forward, action based, light hearted movie about criminals...
Suicide Squad was only the "comedy" flick because people were complaining about Superman not smiling while people were dying left and right. What do you think they would've done if WB actually added tHE abuse and everything else that comes with something like the Suicide Squad?
Suicide squad is the King of good movies, I don't know why people don't like it. Their brilliant lack of character development, nonsensical plot and unfunny humour makes for a enjoyable experience. I especially enjoyed the bit where Harley Quinn goes into an elevator while crappy music plays, then she fights some dudes, then it ends by her walking out of the elevator. This scene was as funny as the ending of schindler list. I give Suicide squad 10/10.
Other people clearly just didn't understand what was going on in the movie. If they did, they'd realize the movie was "for the fans", so logical inconsistencies and poor characters don't matter because Margot Robbie is in booty shorts and bending over and what were we talking about again?
Stupid shit because the directors and WB decided to TDK trilogy theme everything and didn't realise it was bad until JL where they ruined it with cringe jokes and bad non Snyder visuals and choreography
Here's my thoughts on Suicide Squad; I thought it had a decent premise, however it fell flat in practice. The plot is both cookie-cutter and nonsensical, logic runs straight out the window, tonal shifts out of left field, majority of the characters are unlikable, almost everything is told in flashback, the bar scene (character development) felt forced, the government (i.e. The "good guys") basically made the villain who she was meaning it was their own fault because they wanted to make the Suicide Squad, the villain was lame and confusing, and it just felt really disappointing. I don't hate Suicide Squad, as I thought it did have a few entertaining moments, but it failed to live up to the high expectations the trailer set up.
Paget Vido I am 29 years old and I watched it expecting that it will be a bad, boring, stupid piece of shit just like Batman v Superman and was pleasantly surprised that it wasnt boring. For this reason alone (not being boring) I would say that its a decent movie. I watched an extended cut and people say that its better than the original though.
+Dweliq Everyone has their preference - to me, it was lots of flash and little substance. The visuals were overdone, and the characters seemed shoehorned in and lacked depth. It felt like a film targeting the lowest common denominator.
lol, I watched this a few days ago, it really was bad huh? Why cant DC do things right? Ive read so many reports about how much of a mess the process of making the movies was, just cut the crap and give the project to talented people interested in the subject matter. Seems simple for a major company! Ive read they want to save money on the effects, the cinematography. I worry Justice league will be the same, we were supposed to have a new trailer nearly 2 months ago, and there were rumours that this movie had a5 foot 5 inch Darkseid in it, which totally would not surpise me!
Well, the central premise and supposed "payoff" in the film is that these criminals bond enough to actually willingly make sacrifices for each other. For that to be believable, they actually have to show them bond OVER TIME. Instead, you have a bunch of action scenes, then they have drinks and PRESTO instant bonding! If this happened in a movie with "normal" people, this would be difficult to believe. But the main characters in this movie are initially supposed to be pretty selfish. It just the final big scene ring false and seem sort of cheap. The film had other problems, but this was the central one IMHO since it pertains to the actual that was being told and the climax of that story.
im a huge supporter of the DCEU but even I thought Suicide Squad was something of trainwreck. It really pisses me off how much they butchered this awesome concept. This movie had so much potential! It should of been a comic book movie like we have never seen before, but instead it indeed up being a fucking weird generic cliche GOTG wannabe. First things first, the Enchatress was fucking horrible. Boring, generic, and cringey as all hell. Bad acting, questionable CGI, ridiculous belly dancing, and ultimately just should not have been in this movie. Not as the villain at least. It should have had a much more grounded villain(like the joker). Speaking of the joker, they market the living crap out of him and then he only appears for like 5 minutes and its only for the sake of HQ. I mean come on....did NOBODY think that was going to blow up in their face? They guy should have way more to do and been portrayed as the "wildcard" of the story like they kept saying he was. Complete and utter fuck up. And then they turned the story into this generic "B grade weirdos save the world" type thing. Thats NOT what suicide squad is about. God there were so many things wrong with this movie. Harley Quinn was really good though...
I'm not as hard on Fantastic Four (2015) as everyone else, but it was pretty awful. In the first half, I felt like we didn't really need to see them as kids, and some of the dialogue was kinda cheesy, but overall, I actually enjoyed the first half. It took its time to set up the main conflict (although how many times is the reboot of a franchise going to tell the origin story?) But that whole climax really REALLY sucked. The whole movie turned out to be a setup for a generic 10(?) minute battle between good vs. evil. So vanilla. I expected Victor to be a way cooler villain, but no. He's got a generic doomsday device, and he somehow gets defeated by the power of friendship. He was kicking ass, but because the producer decided the movie needed to be over, he was suddenly incapable of being the badass he had been. That ending ruined the whole film for me. I had been thinking it was a mediocre film, but after that final battle...? Terrible. I still enjoyed it more than Jurassic World.
didn't went wrong but the last one is a piece of shit, the 2003 is a great movie but made into a bad time, it was too serious at the time, Spiderman was the hit them, is a favorite of mine, they took time to build a history and give a meaning, wich the last one doesn't have.
THEREDAKAY There still technically is one. He wasn't in it enough to feel significant to the plot. He felt like he was just there for no reason other than people want to see the Joker.
If the Joker is wrong virtually everyone in the movie is wrong. Take Harley Quinn, she is NOT the original version of Quinn and the original is much better in my opinion, much like the original Joker. For this movie, what this movie was going for, it fits.
I don't see anything smart about SS. BVS was just ok but SS was shit and all that talk about family at the end came out of nowhere. It was fucking CRAP.
What went wrong? They forced David Ayer to write a script for this movie in 6 weeks. Source: www.complex.com/pop-culture/2016/08/suicide-squad-director-david-ayer-6-weeks-write-script
Hm, how about this? Harley is back in Arkham when The Joker shows up to get her. He offers her a chance to escape with him and he freezes, she doesn't know if she wants to go with him. He moves like he's about to comfort her but suddenly hits her, knocking her unconscious and taking her away with some comment about how she's been hanging out with the wrong crowd. Next movie has two parallel plots the A plot showing the squad trying to stop one of The Joker's schemes and the B plot showing Harley trying to work out an escape, all the while trying to fool The Joker that she's on his side. We get an opportunity to maybe see some flashbacks, show Harley and Mr J's relationship from the beginning to create some real contrast.
I wanted the Enchantress to win...and I'm pretty sure she did. I mean, how would Harley have tricked a mindreader? And was a diety so limited to only creating one fantasy reality? Is it so crazy to think she made them all think they won and went back to semi-satisfying imprisonment (including one where the Joker lives) - similar to what the robots in the Matrix with the programing of the Matrix reality She realised a prefect illusion wouldn't hold them, but one less then perfect and they didn't suspect
Yes do some more Movie Autopsies. Here are some ideas: Spider-Man 3, The Room (Tommy Wiseau), Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, Cool World, What Women Want, Hancock, The Village, Jack and The Matrix sequels.
I suppose the biggest problem with the movie was the fact that the WB didn't understand the point of the Suicide Squad. They're not meant to fight an evil Superman, they're meant to do the shit the superheroes can't. Basically, dirty their hands so that others don't have to. They're not supposed to be saving the world. Also, introducing every single character in this movie and then trying to solve their character arcs during the movie, while also having them take care of the main plot was far, far too much for a single movie. Basically, DCEU's biggest problem. They did piss all with the foundation and immediately jumped into the main framework.
I knew the movie's gonna be trash the moment they announced it, the hype and hope of viewers to finally see these comic characters flashed out stopped many from asking the real question; How in the fuck can you put all of these characters into one proper cinematic setting?! It's like a bad joke! "A big ass guy with a skin illness, a hot psycho chick, a black guy that's too efficient with weapons, a guy that was named after his extremely inefficient weapon, a Mexican pyromancer and an extroverted friendless commando walk into a bar... Only to get ready to fight the evil spirit lady that terrorizes the city." I'm not even going to mention the Joker, everything in this film was 100% made to try and please as many people as possible, it has it all, Harley Quinn popping boners, Dead shot popping caps, Diablo trying to contain himself because "its nothing personnel, kid", because that's all the movie has to offer, eye-candy and soft satisfaction. Fuck me, it's like everybody suddenly cured their chronic blindness after they paid for the cinema ticket, you couldn't make the movie better, the oh-so-great potential some talk about is complete bollocks, people think the editing was bad, or that the story was unclear, but in reality, the base concept was shit, you can decorate shit all you want, but it will still be consistent of fecal matter.
A better studio that cared about story could have done it easily. Don't introduce 2 or 3 characters 4 different times, give character development through action rather than exposition, drop meaningless subplots that go nowhere... how do people that actually get paid for this not know? After all, it actually HAS been done before... Seven Samurai, Magnificent Seven, Dirty Dozen, GotG, hell, Disney just gave us a better (and, interestingly enough, darker) Suicide Squad movie than this dumpster fire with Rogue One. And those are just a sample of examples that immediately spring to mind. The irony is THIS is the premise that would have fit the grimgrittydark setting WB seems intent on, and not only did they miss the money shot, they completely crapped the bed instead.
*Batman: Assault on Arkham* is basically an animated Suicide Squad before the Suicide Squad Movie, that did everything infinitely better. If you were excited about Suicide Squad, but disappointed when you finally saw the movie, you should watch Assault on Arkham instead. It is what the Suicide Squad Movie should have been. What I would really like to see, though, is a Suicide Squad TV-series, with more episodes (ideally) there would be more time to really flesh out and go in depth with each character's story arc. And each episode would feature some powerful (but not god-like) villain, and not feature a doomsday scenario at every turn. That would be the hope anyway. I feel the only thing the Suicide Squad Movie really gets right, is the nature of abusive relationships (Harley & Joker), and how, despite swearing never to go back to him, its not uncommon for abused women to go back to their abusers because he shows a small (deliberate) sign of affection.
One of the biggest problems is that in that attempt of getting the viewers to feel close to the characters, the characters themselves lost track of who they are, and mostly wanted to become a family or a close group of friends, and that shouldn't be the case with them, they should be rational with their choices, like stopping enchantress because without a world as we know it Deadshot couldn't keep doing "hos job", for Harley there wouldn't be a Gotham or a Batman, which their mere existence is one of the Joker motivations to be alive, and Harley couldn't live without him.
What I'm saying is there really is no completely saving this movie...
saying this video is better than the movie really doesn't say much lol

for me one of the biggest problems of this movie is the way introduces its characters, 30 minutes of cool music, flashy colors and too much information then leaving no space for any surprise nor character developement after the first act
I was watching it on Netflix and actually turned it off after Waller introduced Enchantress. I intended to go back to it (that was about 3 weeks ago). It just felt... irrelevant.
@giveagoodsong You should be more respectful
@@Ryan-pg1tw its criticism theirs nothing disrespectful about it especially when its true the movie was a shit show plain and simple
To me it felt like generic filler movie to justice league
Suicide squad was never going to work out from the start. The whole point of having a suicide squad is to fill in the grey area that super hero's are unwilling to cross. Yet in this universe both batman and superman seem to have no issue in killing their enemies! Secondly they are the metahuman equivalent of a black ops team, therefore their missions should focus on dealing with issues that would cause a shit storm if the public found out about (government deniability/team being disposable). This film should be called 'Slave Heroism'..
They aren't even metahumans though. Diablo is literally the only one who has powers.
Analyzing less than good movies is a brilliant move! More please!

The DCEU is the biggest miss opportunity ever so far. It's full of SO MANY interesting and thought-provoking ideas but the execution all round has been god awful.
What went wrong? Lmfao what didn't? You wanna fix Suicide Squad and act like this shit didn't happen? Then I got you:
-This should NEVER have been an end of the world movie. They should've faced a mob boss that has something Waller needs and that's it. Make it like The Raid where they face waves of goons. No Enchantress bullshit
-Make them feel like villains!!!
The writing is pure shit and it shows
-Make your characters useful.
They should have just done a live action Assault on Arkham. That story was actually decent and made sense.
I tnink I found my soulmate in you.
Idiot.
Robert Redway his energy waned just as soon as the protagonists come along, how convenient!
+eduardo serrano are you serious? Are you arguing against "convenience" in a fictional work? Worse yet, in a superhero fictional work? No "pts of convenience" in the MCU, or Sony or Fox films?
Don't be a hypocrite.
Robert Redway Movies are bad because people like you. Trying to fill stupidity with idiotic ideas...
ROFL. No +christian sanz. Movies get "called bad" because "idiots like you" either:
1 - have biased (sometimes hypocritical) opinions
2 - are too stupid to figure things out
if the Joker was the main villain, it would have been a better story. remove the enchantress, and make the Joker the main villain, and it would have been way better
And replace the actor because jarled leto doesn't fit the joker at all.
That's a problem.
Because I think the film would've been better without a cookie cutter generic villain
@@taptiotrevizo9415 Jared's a good actor, I believe it must be David Ayer's stupid vision of joker which ruined everything

Can you please do The Last Airbender? I want to know how a beloved children's tv show failed at becoming a movie franchise.
skrichard
the nostalgia critic already did that, it's just the movie being an emotionless plot dump, I don't think it needs philosophical analysis to know that
Simple: Shyamalan didn't even really work with what he was given. I mean, c'mon, you're working on a live action adaptation of a show with elemental martial arts n' crud. I don't know how in God's name anyone could make that one of the most boring live action movies but Shyamalan managed to do it.
children's tv show?
The proper Way to do the "Avatar: The last Airbender" would be 5 part movie. 1 movie solely dedicated to learning one of the 4 elements, while facing the adversities he show pushed, while also having the 5th being dedicated to the final days before the big battle and final battle
skrichard they turned a 20 episode tv show into a 2 hour long shit show. moving on, next question
watching the DCEU is like watching the prequels...which is like being in an abusive relationship. I just keep coming back, telling myself it'll be better next time. sigh. c'mon Wonder Woman.
Rhamsody Phage what prequels?
Exactly, Knight77. EXACTLY.
I'm sure DC one day will listen to my emotions and then he will change, he promised... sniff sniff.
Better? BvS is amazing. Suicide Squad is indeed a disappointment, even more so than Civil War.
Virgil Hawkins
tho the joker in the animated series was a gangster, he was also a gangster in tim burtons batman. but those were actually done good. this joker would not even be enough to like the sole of their shoes, he is just a cannon fodder thug.
Point #2 bothered me so much man lol. That's my main problem with SS. I disagree with point #1 though - see Virgil Hawkins' comment. Also I actually liked Leto's Joker - not my favorite of course but I was totally on board with his characterization (his function within the final movie is more flawed but that's not Leto's fault).
turn on the subs at 3:18
My problem with suicide squad was the fact that the movie didnt explored the teams core motivation well enough, at least not on how the comic book does, they are supposed to be a kinda black ops team to do dirty missions, if the mission goes south, they can let them die, or simply deny accountability, this could have been way better if the threat wasnt a magic cgi bullshit villain, a normal operation on foreign soil, would have been great, perhaps infiltrating a country where the US isnt allowed , and do a very dangerous more grounded mission.
Your right, The Suicide Squad isn't the "End of the World" type threat.

Please do more of this. Helping understand what makes bad movies bad helps understand why critics pan seemingly good movies to the general public.
The editing of Suicide Squad was awful.
Brandon D. Johnson Trailer Park.
+Deric James Just because it's a trailer park doesn't make it any better
Deric James I might not understand your reference, but if you're saying the trailers we're good, that's true, but they were bait for flawed movie construction.
Brandon D. Johnson You couldn't see it was going to be bad from the trailers?
MamaPlusOne Yeah but I would like to see a more abusive and distort relationship.
Kevin kong Oh, I agree, they should have absolutely emphasized the abusive, messed up nature of the relationship... but I think they did a decent job of connecting in the very short time they had on screen together. There just wasn't enough screen time to unpack all of that.
she did not amazing
Deadshot dreams of killing Batman.
Me: *Rolls on the ground, laughing uncontrollably.*
yeah thats fucking stupid, should have been him thinking about being with his daughter.
Cameron McGregor it aligns with his true character
"What will you do to stop an evil Superman?"

I sat through the whole movie thinking, why are they here.
pretty much because they wanted "expandable" people for it, and even arguably the mission was to save Amanda, not take down enchantress
If they had stuck to saving Amanda, this could have worked as a Suicide Squad mission. But they had to make her fight the belly dancing supervillain with a sky-beam doomsday machine which no one even tries to explain.
I thought for a long time that people, as often, exaggerated how bad this movie was. Until I saw it.
Yeah, the same thing happened to me with both BvS and the Ghostbusters reboot.
BvS is miles beyond this piece of crap. I actually saw BvS twice, while I couldn't even sit through Suicide Squad in one sitting, ragequitted and watched the ending a few days later...
tho BvS is still mind numbingly stupid.
MrAnimepredator BvS is a masterpiece.
DC Is very underwhelming in the cinematic department.
"You're overwhelmed DC is underwhelmed. Why isn't anyone ever just whelmed?"
I guess you could say that DC's cinematic universe is feeling the mode.
Their comics and animated movies are amazing though .
This was nice, the reason I love this channel is because you guys dissect and find the psychology behind my favorite topic, Movies.
my favourite suicide squad character was 'the man who can climb anything'
Kastillious Mati he climbed his way out of that Trainwreck of a film pretty quick 😂
Kastillious Mati as bad as that sounds it's not worse than recruiting a clown girl with a baseball bat to beat monsters
+ParaChomp *wink wink nudge nudge*
The largest problem this film had was Deadpool and reshoots. There's no way the original film could be as shitty as the result of their marketing team.
RenjiMaili they only did reshoots because the original cut tested so badly. The reality is the final cut was the one that tested the best, and the other cuts probably would have been even worse (as hard as that is to believe).
That's either tragic for DC and Warner Bros. or proof they need to kick this universe down a well and reboot it without any influence from the hack that is Zack Snyder.
Deadpool? He's perfect in every way such that he isn't even in the film.
I feel like the animated movie was so much better.
Me too, at least Harley had a purpose in the animated unlike her live action counterpart. Heck even the squad themselves were picked for logical reasons than the dceu.
That’s because it is, Attack on Arkham was so good.
Bugs me that its named “BATMAN:Attack on Arkham”
Ikr dude
no
The reasons Suicide Squad went wrong because it made no sense
And it didn't made any sense is because David Goyer wrote the script in a short time before filming. THEN, Warner brought in Trailer Park to cut the footage to pieces.
Just because idiots don't understand something doesn't mean "it makes no sense".
Robert Redway
well like...
1) the movie expects the audience not to ask "where b tha superheroes"
2) it shouldve been where the squad fights like street levelers or people that can destroy a couple buildings not some planet level destroying mummy
+The Golden Growtopian
1 - You mean like "where were the Avengers in Winter Soldier"? But yeah, that was a shit movie wasn't it? (sarcasm). Because yeah, The only established superheroes around by SS were Batman and Wonder Woman, and they didn't show up right? But Winter Soldier existed after Iron Man, War Machine, Hawkeye were introduced. (Thor I can assume was in Asgard). -- in case you miss the point - Hypocrisy
2 - Who they fought was irrelevant.
The Golden Growtopian there's no need to defend what you said to anyone. You're right
So, that's it, huh? We're some kind of wise crack ?
Dinkleberg!
This is the part where I'd write a funny comment.
IF I HAD ONE
Hermaeus Mora Anybody Got Time for That!...
EverythingIsOnFire Whoaaa....
The fuck wrong with you
Hermaeus Mora I think your standards a just a tinsy bit too high.
I doubt the director is very happy with it either.
the best thing about suicide squad is this "what went wrong" edition
The Academy Awards literally threw an Oscar into the trash..
Tobio Smash Throwing oscars into the trash is the Academy's favorite activity really.
academy award for best makeup which is the only good thing about the movie
Because money
Suicide Squad won an Oscar for best makeup in the same year that Star Trek Beyond came out. This also means that the crap shoot DCEU has won an Oscar before the MCU, with possibly their worst movie too. How!?
because they had to ... make-up for lost time somehow lol
Please continue with this idea!
Maybe I got this wrong, but I like the idea of searching for the deeper, original meaning in movies that didn't turn out to be that good.
Yeah but probably not on this genre of cinema, as they are not designed to be meaningful or thought provoking...
Waiting for someone to voice this opinion so I could thumbs up and agree. Love the idea of analyzing movies that took a left turn, but could have actually been good, especially if they are as good as this one.
then you enjoy wasting your time? :)
Not a waste at all for those of us who want to one day make our own films and not rely on Hollywood to be the sole gatekeepers of imagination. Knowing how movies went bad, or could have been made better, is like free filmschool!
Me too
DCEU movies in a nutshell
CAST CREW: We have this great...
Warner Bros.: *cut*
Audience: uhhhhh
bobbysworld281995 Yuuuuup
Here's how the movie went wrong.
1. David Ayer went too hot topic gangster with some of its characters
2. David Ayer was only given two weeks to write the entire script for the movie (like are fucking kidding me with that timeframe WB!?)
I wish the team stuck with their guns and made it dark and gritty and serious with a little comedy...but no they got spooked and gave us this...mothafuckas ...
brokeskull616 Well, all the Marvel fans were complaining about how they didn't laugh in Man of Steel and BvS and how they "glorified" darkness and brooding, and how confusing BvS was, so bye bye dark Joker scenes and an actual plot and hello straight forward, action based, light hearted movie about criminals...
this is supposed to be the actual dark side of DC, instead what we had is DC making everything dark and suicide squad becomes the "comedy" flick
Suicide Squad was only the "comedy" flick because people were complaining about Superman not smiling while people were dying left and right. What do you think they would've done if WB actually added tHE abuse and everything else that comes with something like the Suicide Squad?
They movie still would've been average
they got spooked from deadpool which made them go down this tragic road
The fact that we're relying on extended cuts for DCEU movies is fucking depressing.
the extended cut of Suicide Squad is complete shit, didn't add nothing
Gabo LongQua lol
Gabo LongQua You mean to tell me you bother with these extended cuts?
Bluemew1234 you know what? I don't even know.
Darth Michael cool?
Darth Michael
If you knew he was being sarcastic, why did you write an edgy paragraph sperging out about religion? Is atheism the new vegan?
It doesn’t have the marvel brand so stupid ass cracks and fans who are fuckin sheep automatically hated it.
So is this what the DCEU is? Bad movies with strong themes and powerful meanings behind them?
Bad movies with a good idea or two that gets buried underneath a huge pile of nonsense.
Unrealized potential.
Stupid shit because the directors and WB decided to TDK trilogy theme everything and didn't realise it was bad until JL where they ruined it with cringe jokes and bad non Snyder visuals and choreography
What is MCU? Good movies with forgettable themes and regular style and same plots ( objectively I like most of them)
what didn't go wrong would be a shorter video
ROFLMAO!!!!!!
Sarah Choi Only the graphics really...
Sarah Choi what went wrong would be the entire run time
So, they are going to do something about Filfthy Frank right?
Wyatt Yost I saw Pink Guy at the start, so I hope so.
Wyatt Yost I would love that.
Wyatt Yost can anyone explain to me what does this mean?
Jeffy Baloch it means they are going to do a video on him
let's hope so!!
Wisecrack: What went wrong?
Thanos: *everything.*
This shows the DCEU has great potential. Even with its weakest of movies. Warner Bros just needs to start making the right decisions
Andy Shaheen dceu is so garbage I'm only looking for aquaman now fuck wonder women and justice leage
Versace Mane Trailer looked like shit
Did they put out Suicide Squad to make BvS seem decent? Like BvS is still bad but compared to SS its decent.
Kenny Wu BvS is great.
Deric James funny joke
bladenight23 Not a joke it's a fact.
Deric James another funny joke. Calling your flawed opinion a fact. You should become a professional comedian.
Kenny Wu Yes. I hated BvS but after SS...it became a lot more bearable.
More. It's a treat to see what a movie did wrong so that we can do better. Give us more!

I don’t get it
Here's my thoughts on Suicide Squad;
I thought it had a decent premise, however it fell flat in practice.

The EmptyPenguin940 this is why we need to think critically about what we consume
Dominique Hipolito true
The EmptyPenguin940 haven't met anyone over the age of 14 who thought it was good.
This video should just be a 1 second video that says "Everything" then just ends
ParaChomp ok then let's just say it's a terrible movie that looks pretty
It looks terrible. Everything is dark filter. Even scenes that happen in daylight and outdoors seem like the inside of a cave.
Philip B. IT WAS BRILLIANT
lol, I watched this a few days ago, it really was bad huh? Why cant DC do things right? Ive read so many reports about how much of a mess the process of making the movies was, just cut the crap and give the project to talented people interested in the subject matter. Seems simple for a major company! Ive read they want to save money on the effects, the cinematography.
I worry Justice league will be the same, we were supposed to have a new trailer nearly 2 months ago, and there were rumours that this movie had a5 foot 5 inch Darkseid in it, which totally would not surpise me!
the soundtrack was pretty kickass tho no lie
So their solution to an evil Superman is to send in an insane floozy with a baseball bat and a guy with a boomerang. Good move.
SPOILER ALERT! Everything went wrong.
iLoveSmartMovies even DC fanboys have given up on defending this movie.
ParaChomp for best makeup and character design ... that does not mean that the movie was good at all. It just means the characters looked cool

Suicide Squad: What Went Wrong? EVERYTHING
. . . except for makeup and hair styling.
Subr Subrr I agreed until I remembered the joker's tattoos.
Mackenzie Totaro Oh, God. Anything but that!
And that one scene with Deadshot and those zombies.. You know what I mean.
Yes, Suicide Squad won an Oscar, but for makeup. Which actually wasn't bad. I mean, isn't Killer Croc's face all practical effects?
Compare it to what it was going against, Star Trek Beyond.
im a huge supporter of the DCEU but even I thought Suicide Squad was something of trainwreck. Harley Quinn was really good though...
i bet if someday marvel make a thunderbolts film, it will be more suicide squad THAN suicide squad
marcilio junior Marvel already has guardians of the galaxy and that's more suicide squady than the actual suicide squad
if Mel Gibson does SUicide Squad 2 and if WB lets it be R rated I think we could have a proper film on our hands
also that doesnt really make sense. The whole point is taht Suicide Squad is NOT guardians of the galaxy so im not really sure what you are saying...
Joshcoshbagosh Oh Yeah cause r ratings could definitely make anything better. Jesus Christ really?
haha you played the Wilhelm scream when slipknot died. Genius!!
The Purple Umbrella I know right, XD
You gotta do Fantastic Four (2015) : What Went Wrong?
everything
agreed, everything
AB128 they made the film
Yes. Do more of these and do the 2015 fantastic four
I'm not as hard on Fantastic Four (2015) as everyone else, but it was pretty awful.
In the first half, I felt like we didn't really need to see them as kids, and some of the dialogue was kinda cheesy, but overall, I actually enjoyed the first half. It took its time to set up the main conflict (although how many times is the reboot of a franchise going to tell the origin story?)
But that whole climax really REALLY sucked.
Nothing went wrong. It was fucked from the start.
That would mean something went wrong.
It was, deadshot is not black.
Do the 2003 Hulk movie! That one has a lot of smart things in it but still went wrong.
Agreed, much like this one it seemed to be reaching for something deep but fell flat.
Lukas Hepp Yes do Hulk 2003.
didn't went wrong but the last one is a piece of shit, the 2003 is a great movie but made into a bad time, it was too serious at the time, Spiderman was the hit them, is a favorite of mine, they took time to build a history and give a meaning, wich the last one doesn't have.
PollyMamedePsi 08 was better than the first movie crap.
Do more media autopsies please: this was quite interesting to watch :)
The should have made the Joker the main villain of the film
Andrew Tickel everyone and their mother would agree
Either he should have been the main antagonist or not in it at all.
Yes. Everyone knows that if the Joker is gonna be in a movie, he cannot be a side character. That's just not who that character is.
Andrew Tickel they should have made him main protagonist where he comes in kills the enchatress and saves harley
Fuck the Joker.
Please more of this. I legit NEVER interact here but wanted to ask for more of this style. It's so perfect.
Do more of these!
Letos joker wasn't even in it enough to be criticized out of the 99 problems this movie has his not one of them.
THEREDAKAY There still technically is one. He wasn't in it enough to feel significant to the plot. He felt like he was just there for no reason other than people want to see the Joker.

DO IT!
The trouble with the movie is that they made it for hipsters and they ruined the joker making him a transsexual rapper that was high on mushrooms.
Master Bait Tour Joker works pretty good as a transesque villain though, so you're wrong
If the Joker is wrong virtually everyone in the movie is wrong. Take Harley Quinn, she is NOT the original version of Quinn and the original is much better in my opinion, much like the original Joker. For this movie, what this movie was going for, it fits.
Master Bait Tour nah, they made it for edgelords.
Master Bait Tour That escalated quickly.
Whoa, guy - he doesn't rap!
Can you please make The Philosophy of Regular Show???
Benjamin Abramowitz true that true that
Benjamin Abramowitz YESSsssss
Benjamin Abramowitz yes
After that ending, it's well deserved.
Yes
you gave this film more philosophical depth than the actual screen writers and the producers did
I don't see anything smart about SS. BVS was just ok but SS was shit and all that talk about family at the end came out of nowhere.
It was fucking CRAP.
"We've known each other for.....*checks watch*.....almost 8 hours now!
If that isn't a family, I don't know what is!"
Damn that Filthy Frank teaser though
Great video, man. Brilliant views. I was really sad watching the movie, it sucked big time.
I kind of like how alot of the possibility of the material that could defend this movie is almost always ignored.
What went wrong? They forced David Ayer to write a script for this movie in 6 weeks.
Source:
www.complex.com/pop-culture/2016/08/suicide-squad-director-david-ayer-6-weeks-write-script
Film News Report You're fake news
Film News Report yes
David Ayer IS a screenwriter as well. He wrote Training Day, for goodness sake!
Ayer is a screenwriter...
Sorry for saying David Ayer was not a screenwriter, the post has now been edited.

Mr Misanthrope ?
Holy cow that would be amazing. You could each season, as they each had a different theme to them.
"desire leads to surrender leads to power" is the new "fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering"
I wanted the Enchantress to win...and I'm pretty sure she did.
I mean, how would Harley have tricked a mindreader? And was a diety so limited to only creating one fantasy reality? Is it so crazy to think she made them all think they won and went back to semi-satisfying imprisonment (including one where the Joker lives) - similar to what the robots in the Matrix with the programing of the Matrix reality
She realised a prefect illusion wouldn't hold them, but one less then perfect and they didn't suspect
Title: What went wrong?
Me: What didn't?
Thing with Harley and the joker is that Harley likes the relationship
The prevalent theme of control being apparent so frequently in the moving almost had me thinking that what we got was a “movie”
Suicide Squad, What Went Wrong?:
*All of it.*
EEEEEEEEEEEEVERYTHING
(except Make Up, I guess)
Yes do some more Movie Autopsies.
Here are some ideas: Spider-Man 3, The Room (Tommy Wiseau), Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, Cool World, What Women Want, Hancock, The Village, Jack and The Matrix sequels.
RainintheBrain the room is just bad... it's not like it had some grand underlying plot unless you bs one in their
RainintheBrain I agree but not MOS. Man of steel was decent
Only to get ready to fight the evil spirit lady that terrorizes the city."
I'm not even going to mention the Joker, everything in this film was 100% made to try and please as many people as possible, it has it all, Harley Quinn popping boners, Dead shot popping caps, Diablo trying to contain himself because "its nothing personnel, kid", because that's all the movie has to offer, eye-candy and soft satisfaction.
Stas Twinkleton I'm too tired for this..
Stas Twinkleton I'm too tired for this..
Stas Twinkleton u know it's a piece of shit
there was a lot they could have done with this concept and it could have been great.
We wanted Joker and Harley and we got Rick, Amanda, and Will Smith
Harley is heavily focused on in the movie.
