Fun fact: Maniac was originally written for a slasher movie. They didn't end up using it, and the lyrics were rewritten for the movie Flashdance.
IIRC, some of the original lyrics were "He's a maniac, maniac, that's for sure. He'll kill your cat and nail it to the door."

This is solid gold!!! I was in a hard rock band back in '84 and our lead guitarist/singer's wife was a dance instructor- so we did a hard rock version of this tune back then. It was nowhere near as good as this! I remember thinking back then how out of place it was for a hard rock band to be mixing Michael Sembello with Def Leppard, Scorpions, Judas Priest, etc. If I had only known back then what I know now...
