As I have experience with few open baffles, all I can say is I still use box speakers. The size factor required is impossible if you do not have a large home if in the Livingroom or "dedicated listening" is a MUST. There is an obvious benefit, bass treatment as result of the polar cancelation of the bass, and the lack of box resonance. Yet, take a very low resonance system and low distortion, far smaller speakers can provide the same depth and space. They dissapear. The speakers you spoke about are no slouch, but we need JBL M2, Yamana NS-5000, sort of performance (that to make it cheap.) It can be done cheaper with open baffle, obviously. However, the way it loads the room at the place open baffle do it is fantastic. Having eyes open listening to open baffle is a experience to laugh about because it looks so much more 3D, so it does with dipoles, and with omnidirectional speakers. The thing is how it comes down with lights shut. Blind fold experiments are there for a reason. It can sound fantastically 3D without open baffle too. There are various good tricks out there I guess.
    Awesome build!

BTW, Check Rythmik audio in the US. Their Open baffle Subwoofers H frame? Oh man! ... not too expensive. Mighty impressive.

I sure wish I could come over and listen to those speakers. I'm sure they are great and have the "sound" I've been looking for. I would put money on them being the perfect speaker for an AM band tube type radio receiver.

I've never heard an open baffle, but I understand the science and being a Magnepan guy, I already own REL T9X subs so that's fine. I find myself becoming obsessed with these and transmission line speakers. I guess I'm just tired of traditional speaker boxes. Either way I won't be happy until I build one. I may try with the bass "wings though, because I do like that lower midbass punch but if it doesn't sound good... take em off! Brilliant.

What about a larger baffle with the Lii Song ? I would imagine they would sound much better like your other open baffle speakers.

I was not a fan of full range drivers as a stand alone speaker. Great options tho! :)

    Here is a question
I have a pair of Infinity Kappa 9's -They are located in Australia , but I live in Thailand.
Shipping the speakers here is very expensive , so I was thinking if I removed the drivers and cross overs and ship them .
Then fabricate a baffle to house my drivers .
    Would that work ?

All depends on the sensitivity and QTs of the drivers.

Terry is an awesome guy and makes amazing stuff. Open baffles do make some great sound but agreed not for bass heads.

Ah yes, and add a simple sub and all is right in the world for bass heads!!😂😂. PS- Terry is one of my favorite people. Solid guy. I’m so lucky to be able to work with him.

In some ways. But many more differences than similarities.
