      Sir could you please make videos on basic designing skills or steps to design real world objects on FreeCAD. Based on your experience it would be a gold for beginners like me.
      Thanks alot and 🙏 Namaste from India.

      @@lokapakti1548 Sure can. I have recorded a video of me designing a tool for my workshop but haven't edited it yet. My primary focus is on furniture design but I can look at other things. What did you have in mind?

    Great practical video, hope to see more. I am trying to master Freecad as as a tool in my woodworking hobby. As there are obviously limitations in importing the spreadsheet, what do you think about the practicality of working only in the Freecad spreadsheet, thus eliminating the need to import with possible conflicts?

      Hi Will, My apologies for my tardy reply. Thanks for your kind words. To be honest, it seems to me that the FreeCAD spreadsheet is good for doing fairly simple spreadsheets (which admittedly mine are) but I didn't spend much time looking into how practical it would be to share them between models.
      I was looking for a way to do some proportional design in a spreadsheet and share that spreadsheet between multiple FreeCAD models, which led me down the Excel path - I'm also very familiar with Excel so that helped too. I didn't investigate whether I could do this using FreeCAD spreadsheets but it seems to me that I should look into it and do a video on the subject. I am building a list of woodworking related FreeCAD video topics, and will add this one to it.

    What's the difference between using , and SPREAD SHEET??
    Thank you, Roland

      @GlassonDesignStudio  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for your question. The difference is that is referencing the spreadsheet by its label whereas SPREADSHEET references it by name. There isn't a lot of difference if the spreadsheet's label is SPREADSHEET but the difference becomes apparent once you have multiple spreadsheets in your model. The default SPREADSHEET label is incremented by 001 each time you add a spreadsheet so your name of those spreadsheets becomes SPREADSHEET001, SPREADSHEET002, SPREADSHEET003, etc. You will probably find, as I did, that this naming scheme becomes a bit unmanageable because you have to remember that SPREADSHEET002 actually contains say the dimensions of a motor vehicle tyre of a certain brand. Changing the label of the spreadsheet to be something like "PirelliXYZ" is far easier to remember but you'll have to use in any expression that references that spreadsheet.
      Over time I have moved towards using spreadsheets to store the parameters that define standard wood working components, my equipment, etc. and it means that I regularly have 3+ spreadsheets in a model so having a naming scheme for the labels makes it much easier for me to use them. I hadn't realised that it could be an issue when I made the video which is why I didn't talk about it.
      I hope this makes it clearer.

      Hi Aleksander, sorry for the delay getting back to you. Could you e-mail me the spreadsheet and I can have a look at it? Could you also include the FreeCAD version and other details in the About FreeCAD dialogue box? Email: support@glassondesignstudio.com.au
