I remember being very, very young. I listened to my Mother and one of my Aunts talk about Country Music Artist. They talked with great admiration and Charlie Pride. I think we can all be grateful he chose Country Music!
If anyone deserves to be in the Country Music Hall of Fame, Mr. Charley Pride does. This song brings me back to my childhood. Growing up on a dirt farm and just living the life. No worries, plenty of good food and a parents love. Rest In Peace Mr Charley Pride, you were a good one. He is one of my all-time favorites.
Hi my good friend. So glad you're giving love to Charley. He has so many good ones but this one captured my soul when I heard it years ago. Charley was an honored entertainer at the Norsk Hostfest in Minot, North Dakota for years. For two reasons. One, because he's an incredible talent. Two, because the Minot people knew him from playing on their baseball team for multiple years back in the day. They loved him and he loved them.
This North Carolina boy doesn't know much about Mississippi, but I do know I love some Charley Pride. So grateful that he chose to sing country music. Much "respect" Charlie.
in 1971 in detroit at cobo hall i seen charley pride and conway twitty on the same show. talk about a beer drinking crowd . 53 years ago i still remember that crowd. the place was utter pandemonium. way to go p j looks as if you're doing fine after your surgery. good luck.
My favorite Charlie songs are this and Is Anybody Going to San Antone? The album version makes me teary eyed sometimes. Many great nostalgia songs about the past in country music, this one of the best.

The songwriters of this song wrote a lot of songs for Barbara Mandrell & also Sylvia. I don't remember who else. He looks so young. Where has the time gone??? Oh yeah. On an award show Loretta Lynn was told if she won to keep her distance & not touch Charley Pride. He was presenting the award. She won, went on stage, hugged & kissed Charley. She didn't care what they told her. She loved Charley Pride like the rest of us. GO LORETTA!!
