    I really like Kevin Comtpon's peeking caddis pattern for our area and this style of bug. It is a simplified euro style patter.

      Compton’s pattern is just a Walt’s worm with a green butt. Very deadly pattern

    We have been using a squirrel and cdc dubbing for the collar and we just use silky for the rib and glo brite for our tag. I only fish this in size 16 and just smash fish all year long on it

    Nicely done! I need to get the green deer hair. Way easier than the thread I use and cut up to get it to look like this. Love this pattern, and this is a unique twist on it. I bet this is awesome on the J!

      @@Brownsylvania Yessir. Hopefully this winter we can link back up on the J or somewhere else and make a day of it. There is a chance I might be in the area over thanksgiving. If I am I will hit you up!

    Great fly. Wondering if these jig style flies work well with traditional nymphing techniques.

    • @elywilkinson7404
      @elywilkinson7404 Год назад

      Yep. They're also easier to cast since the weight is in the fly instead of having to use split shot.

    Great fly could you do. The hares ear nymph

    • @Brownsylvania
      @Brownsylvania  3 года назад

      Yeah I'll definitely do a hare's ear at some point, although I don't use hare's ears much. I tend to user pheasant tails more.

    Hi new to fly tying and just wondering what hackle you use as been tying them with cdc but this hackle looks cool

    • @Brownsylvania
      @Brownsylvania  3 года назад +1

      This is hackle you'd use for a dry fly, rooster hackle. This is from a Whiting's 100 pack.

    Awesome vid! What kind of deer hair is that? All the deer I have comes in these tiny packages.

    • @Brownsylvania
      @Brownsylvania  3 года назад

      Thanks! It is buck tail.

      @@Brownsylvania Thanks! Do you think bugger hackle would work here? Love this fly so much!

    • @Brownsylvania
      @Brownsylvania  3 года назад

      Uhh, to be honest I believe the bugger hackle would be way too long unless you maybe used the very tip or trimmed it. I think if it's all you got though it'll surely still catch fish. haha

      @@Brownsylvania You rock man, thank you! I'll grab some of those whiting 100's. Have been eyeing them for a while anyways :)

    • @Brownsylvania
      @Brownsylvania  3 года назад +1

      Yeah I just buy those because I don't use much hackle so those are most cost effective for me.
