After discovering George Jones, then his duets with Gene Pitney, I finally found George singing with Melba. True country. Then searchng on the web for her I have come across un believable videos from her prime years. Not a good looking beauty ? Yes, she was . She was on a par with all the rest of those female country singers in the 60s and 70s. A stuning face and smile.
These two do a remarkable job with this recording. In addition to their contrasting voices, there are two times when the cream rises to the top; at the mark 0:56 when Charlie sings with the violin softly playing in the background, and again at the 2:20-2:31 mark -the violin makes a stunning impact. Very well done...great classic country music here !
Long time ago, I was in the Burger Bar, not far off Music Row, when in came one of my heroes, heavy overcoat, looked like an old farmer. Twas Charlie Louvin, he just wanted the phone. I nearly met one of my heroes, but sadly I just froze.
