CURRENT SCHEDULE
Expect a new video every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 11AM Central!
How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a RUclips channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
I miss doing field work.
Beautiful. I am mesmerized with the video close ups! Beautiful harrow patterns on the fields!
Great video Ryan you guys have some beautiful country. Take care and have a great week 👍
The new tractor are nice with all the technology but it's nice to hop in one of thies old classic tractors and her them work.
They certainly sound better than the modern ones!
Mighty job Men, nice to see new life going back into land👌👍🙏🙂
Hello! I'm from Ukraine! I love watching your channel! I wish you the development of the economy!
Awaome video Ryan prep for planting has come so Satisfying. To watch you work the fields from a birds eye view thumbs up and shared
Hey, thanks for watching!
The 3 point on the seed tractor needs a container, shelf, rack or bin to haul the extra seed.
That would have been a perfect nostalgia video. 4020 and the seed drill.
You kindly explain farming in a MUCH MORE educational way than some. Some stone throwers attack you and your processes, which is wrong!!
Nicely done Ryan can’t wait to see the 7920 on planter
"I don't know how much horsepower I'm going to need... But I know how much horsepower I'm going to use!"
"Are you Michael...'Overkill is Underrated'...Nelson?!?"🤣👍(not to be confused with 'Tater Salad')
Tractor looks tough with those duals on it!
Great news on the 3 videos every week , best of luck for the new season may you have a bumper year
Soil looks nicely dried out over there - contrast to much of the UK where cows are only just able to be let out onto the pasture as fields have been too wet/water-logged. Good to see return to the fields (and consequently more frequent videos 😀).
Great to see you guys out in the field😁👍 the 4640 on the harrow is pretty cool👍😉
Awesome video👍👍
Hey Ryan!! Was driving to town yesterday watching farmers in the field and thought, time for Ryan to post a spring field work video. Favorite time of the year.
I just love this kind of video
Another gem Ryan and Travis, I’ve rode my share of equipment also Ryan, seeing you on the back of the drill brings a flood of memories back. Keep crushin it guys and God Bless🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸
If you can find an aerator it would do wonders for your pasture. I run one every spring and it punches holes about 6 inches deep. Makes a world of difference.
What brand and width aerator are you using?
Another GREAT video Ryan. As always excellent drone footage!!!
It’s not overkill if it works😂 👍
Nothin like seein a beauty of a big green machine rollin coal
i enjoy harrowing we have a McFarlane 60 foot harrow and a 60 foot kelly diamond harrow we pull it with a 9470rt
thank you
Good job Ryan keep up the good work my God be with you
Hope everything goes good with planting.
This was a harrowing video an I dig it! 😄
Hope you get some oatlage made. I have fed some of it. Really liked it. My cattle really really liked it. They did well on it too. Thanks 😊.
Always drag pasture to spend manure piles. Does make a difference.
looks like you guys need a Great Plains 1300 box drill we have one and it works wonderfully.
We used to pull a harrow with a farmall H. I think that you might be a little bit overpowered!
That harrow is one of my favorite pieces of equipment. Simple and satisfying.
It's great to see field work underway. Can't wait to see the planter being pulled by the 7920!
Saludos compa how farms ✌️😎 desde Tamaulipas México Anáhuac ✌️
The 4640 rides again
Good video
Glad You got all that done,
How Much Snow did You get Last night ? I got about 5" By Merrill.
Thanks Ryan.
Mike M.
Another great video keep them coming please
I this is the first time the 46 has harrowed
Nice video
Having wrap capabilities sure makes nice feed. With the end caps this year much less loss. Great weather getting spring field prep and seeding done. Good luck with rain for germination. China's drought will hopefully continue to push up beef and grain prices.
The work with the harrow in the pasture is similar to what chickens could do for you, and they will eat the fly larvae too, which should reduce the fly population that bother the cows.
That harrow seems like busy work without really accomplishing much
I hope this snow we are getting in MN avoids you so your new seeding doesn't get messed up. Anybody else see those big trees next to the field and wonder if the jcb could eat them?
I would highly recommend a Phillips or Kelly Mfg rotary harrow over those drag harrows
Did I see a red tractor in the shed behind the 7600 while you were pulling the 46 out of the shed?
Use a roller and roll it down should work great
Uk name for cow pie is a cow pat !!
if my dads right your chain harrows are the wrong way around the chains will open up over time but the back on the front and the front the spikes will close up the links and they wont fall apart later in life
With me being on the east side of wisconsin how do you feel about the seeding now that it got cold again? P.s. love hearing the 4640
Start up
Another great video.....
Hey Ryan, Use what you have of course one of my friends that has passed naked me over kill because I didn't want what I was making for him to brake. Take care, take it easy and trust JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!! Also hey Dad!
I Enjoyed The Video
Good content. 👍
If you ran that across grass with thatcher would it bring the thatch up to the top for better burning?
I noticed your drill was set up with single disc opener. Was it a option when it was new or a conversion ?
Slow mo guys different
How about adding sand to the soil, would help grown and easier on the plow.
Where is the Kuhn No Till Drill??
Hello!
What is the difference in using the harrow vs a field cultivator?
A harrow only scratches the top and levels loose soil. A field cultivator goes several inches deep, stirs the soil and kills weeds. Most field cultivators have a harrow mounted on the back or pulled behind to level the soil.
This is great a job but it's a lot of work to do في
Nice as always. What brand is your harrow?
Hey Ryan You said that No other way How are the cows don't want to eat around their Crap. We people do not eat our meals On the toilet seat.
Hi
I think your problems there your using the wrong type of harrows you need zigzag type
30# to the acre!?
Think a Brillion should be in your future
👍👍❤
What a harrowing experience………ok, I’ll leave!
You are waisting a tremendous amount of money and seed planting alfalfa at 30 lbs/acre.
This harrow looks a little bit dangerous
Need to find a Brillion cultimulcher for your new seeding
