I’ve realized during this game that because of the companion errata, dranith magistrate doesn’t even prevent casting companions, which is what it was meant to counter in standard
12:34 Cam casts Tainted Pact from exile (found by Grasp) through a Drannith Magistrate. Think the stax had gotten so wide that people started to forget what was still active.
Am I the only one whose learning just now that Jim is on the RC now??? Thats awesome!!! Edit: looked it up, and Olivia is on the RC too?? Thats super awesome!!!
Dhalsim was so powerful on this board, but the pace with which the stax pieces came down was ridiculous. Haven't seen a shellacking like that by a GW deck since Tyler took Yasharn out for a spin (still one of my favorite games, btw). The effect of the stax pieces was absolutely backbreaking. Excellent job on the editing, as always, and a great game to see!
Would love to see a cedh all stax with dhalsim, winota, urza, and derevi. I know that makes for a brutal game most times but it would be interesting 🤔.
@@DMBlade4 stax can be cedh built this notion that they are just highly tuned decks is wrong. You of course can have situations that your stax does shit all. Love the reminder for Bloodstained Mire when you cast the field. There is a slightly infamous legacy tournament report about a guy on mono-white stax and he routinely mentioned how his opponents would get GRV's for fetching with it out.
Having the inverted scrollpad is infuriating but I also have to say you got a little taste of not getting to do what you wanted. haha I love this channel so much!
I think the correct intuition pile is Ad Nauseam, Mystic Remora, Rhystic Study. It doesn’t always have to be a card to grab combo pieces. From the board state you were in, I think it’s correct to play for the long game.
You know what would be a cool touch? Some sort of visual glow around the names when someone is talking. It got really confusing sometimes to tell who's turn and who's saying what. A visual-for-audio cue would be great for these videos.
That is not true, LED is a mana ability, it's just weird because it's a mana ability with a timing restriction. Notably, Pithing Needle does not stop LED
There is a Gatherer ruling for LED that says: " The ability is a mana ability, so it is activated and resolves as a mana ability, but it can only be activated at times when you can cast an instant. Yes, this is a bit weird. "
Vanishing Verse should have been in the graveyard, which would give Cam access to a removal spell in his graveyard. RIP does not exile the card that destroys it but does exile itself.
So exited for Cam to be on Shuffle Up and Play, this was a really fun game to watch Suppression Field did some really great work this game That deck dylan was running had some really funny cards in it compared to most cEdh decks
Lurrus says permanent, not card strangely. That’s one of the things that makes Lurrus real good. What makes this especially weird is that it’s counterpart, Keruga, doesn’t specify only permanents.
I think its like to see another game with these decks because this is 2 in a row now where it seems only 1 deck did anything. I always love the vids though❤️
Loved the game, that was great. Any thoughts on Dhalsim making it into the maybe/sideboard pile for Blood Pod? Seems interesting, but I haven't gotten to play enough to have thoughts on it yet.
Wow, if it isn't the consequences of not running more than 0-1 board wipes XD Edit: Also, questions. 1. Is there a reason Dhalsim runs Ranger's Guile over Tamiyo's Safekeeping and 2. Does Dhalsim have room for Pendelhaven?
Cam that was definitely not a spite play if you thought that at the time it would save you, but Tyler's counter on your Tainted Pack was also definitely a spite play because by definition it was basically giving the game to Dylan as there was no way Tyler was going to be able to come back.
I disagree. No matter what position you're in, the only way to win is to not lose. Even if you're staxed out to oblivion, the correct play is always to counter a combo win attempt. Also, Drannith was out so Cam couldn't have played tainted pact anyway but that's a separate issue
@@marcellusjordan5681 nah i just thought Lurrus was worded like Keruga but instead it’s worded like Zirda. I thought it asked for all cards to be under 3 cmc but instead it’s only permanents.
Wait, how was he drawing 3 cards from Dhalsim? His abilitys says one or more, so no matter how many creatures delt combat damage, he would only draw 1 card from it right?
Cause it says “one or more to a player”. Each player is counted as a separate clause to draw that many cards. So if 3 creatures hit 3 different people, that’s 3 independent triggers.

It do lol
I think Dhalsim probably still would have won but that counter war burned through a lot of interaction so it would have changed a good bit of the game
Was gonna say the exact same thing
I don't think so 'cause doesn't grasp specifically say "play" not "cast", Drannith says "can't CAST spells". I could be wrong tho about the ruling
It needs to say play in order for grasp to able to get lands if you get a spell then you must cast it in order to play it
