Went to Drury Lane and saw this about 30 times over the 2 years it played there including the final night on 1st May 1976. These clips bring back happy memories.
Visited London as a teenager in 1975 and 1977. My lovely Uncle Len took all the family to the theater to see Billy Liar. Absolutely adored it! But then, I loved Michael from when I first saw him in the film Hello Dolly. Years later I got to see him as The Phantom. Thanks for posting this.❤❤❤
My parents took me to see ‘Billy’ with Michael Crawford twice in the 1970s. As a 13 year old girl, I was a massive fan of ‘Some mothers do ‘ave ‘em, and I had a HUGE crush on Michael Crawford! A decade or so later, my parents happened to be invited to see Phantom of the Opera, including an after show dinner … and they were sat by Michael himself. They said he was lovely … luckily I’d long got over my crush by then, otherwise I’d have exploded with envy! 😂
I just adored Billy! Always intended to go back and see it again but we never did. Had the LP record at home and me, mum and my sister sang and danced around the lounge to it many a time.
went to see this show twice when i was a kid in the must have been mid 70s (omg) he was brilliant went to the last but one show before Roy castle took over and killed it
Thank you. I'm always on the hunt for older videos of Michael's earlier years in the theatre. One person attempted to send me a recording of ONE POTO performance, but turns out, I still couldn't access it. See I spent the last year and a half learning Christine's part to go audition for Hal Prince in 1988, right after my highschool graduation to be an alternate. Those plans fell through and I was crushed, naturally. I am his biggest fan and yet I was never able to see him LIVE .. in anything! 😭😭😭 (Sigh) I'll be checking back with you often to see if you've found something previously unseen. Take care. Aszneth

he is so young.
Be fair. It's supposed to be a dork's fantasies.

There used to be a video on RUclips of a little variety performance of the show but I can’t seem to find it anymore 😭
@@floopdiedoi4858 NOOOOOO
its Billy Elliot not Fisher
This Billy was Billy Fisher from the musical Billy based on Billy Liar, not Billy Elliot the musical. hope that clears things up ;-)
