Watch to see how the "clot busting" drug tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) is used to dissolve a clot causing a ischemic stroke. Video narrated by Michael Waters, MD, PhD, director of the Stroke Program at Barrow Neurological Institute.
I had atrial fibrillation and didn’t know it. I had a stroke and got to the hospital within an hour and received a tPA and was released from the hospital three days later with no deficits. I was very lucky. Two heart ablations later and I’m just fine. Will have to take an anticoagulant for the rest of my life, but so what? My advice to anyone seeing a cardiologist is to do exactly what they tell you.
Mashalllah This is the best explanation yet...thanks
I got brain stroke 1 year back n received tPA in an hour but still finding some problem with memory ... hope it'll get fine in 2 year ... finger crossed
Fantastic depiction!
Thank you very much for throwing light on tpa
Wow! First and best video on understanding TPa
Wish I received this. Had a ischemic stroke at 15 years old. Doctors assumed I was on drugs and did nothing for me for four days.
how are you now them doctor are useless bro. they want us to suffer and die trust me
wish the same . Recovery is so hard for severe stroke 😢
i have a feeling i also suffered one a long time ago. the doctors always told me its brain fog caused by depression

Thank you 🙏🏻
Tell me about it ! Or better still tell A&E at West Middlesex and Charing Cross ! It'll be NEWS !!!!
what other intravenous medication for the stroke except TPA please ?
Why ask?
After tpa treatment completely stroke goes away or what ...?
No. The tissue that died known as the infarct remains dead as brain tissue cannot regenerate. The tissue around this infarct called penumbra can however recover to a certain degree but there is still potential functional deficit
@@bellacoleman8366 is it same for thrombus also or do we need angioplasty or bypass after therapeutic treatment from Tenecteplase?
ainda bem que o AVE era isquêmico !
A mobile CT scanner. Incredible.
thanks
Nice
