      This ist one of the most heartbreaking comments I've come across. A 4th grader should be occupied with homework, worried about injuries playing sports, getting excited about cool stuff at school... Instead the lingering risk of shootings and consequently the practice runs/drills of protecting themselves from getting shot at is where the head's at...
      Im so sorry, this is not what school should be like 💔

    This is heart breaking stuff and I can't even begin to imagine how this sort of loss must feel and my heart goes out to all those involved in any way.
    I live in Christchurch New Zealand, close to where the 'Mosque Shooting' took place and 50 people lost their lives at the hand of a lone gunman. Ghastly business, absolutely shocking. They took away the semi-automatic rifles but I don't believe that's the answer because the bad guys never handed them in. I don't care about having guns myself either way but it runs far deeper than that, much more is needed, there are fundamental, core issues within the collective psyche of our weakest, sickest people that we must all take some responsibility for.

    • @davidgray8089
      @davidgray8089 Год назад

      No civilian needs an assault rifle... period. As far as the bad guys will still have them, usually the bad guys are robbing banks or dealing drugs, not mass shootings in schools so I do not see your argument as being valid.

    • @dsddala467
      @dsddala467 Год назад +6

      I'd take the chance of a few "bad guys" with semi-automatic weapons. It would have likely prevented this 18 year old kid from getting the murder weapons he chose on his 18th birthday. The less there are the harder it is for impulsive kids to access. Also, a lot of these mass murders are middle class White kids---they don't know the proverbial "bad guys." This incident in Uvalde was unique in that the shooter was Hispanic.

      It is true that there are almost always warning signs. Of course we don’t want to inflict anymore pain on this kids family, or put blame, but somehow we need to have an idea about others around us. This kid was deranged and it did not just happen. The sad and helpless part is that even if we seek help for others often it is ineffective-there are not enough folks out there to help.
      Prime example is that kid in buffalo he was just questioned-this year I think-about deranged emails and was released.

      I am 58, American. I think that is one of the dumbest sayings I have ever heard "Guns don't kill people, people kill people". Why is it then that most street drugs are illegal in the U.S.? Drugs don't do a thing without people abusing them, yet you can get arrested just for possession. Guns require an operator to use.
      They hide behind their precious second amendment and ignore every other right. The second amendment was put in place before we had police or national guard or armed services and it was designed for the sole purpose of allowing state militias to protect our freedoms from invaders. We no longer have use for state militias with the armed services. It was no designed for anyone to have a gun to get a gun because they are pathetic little inferior minded imps that only feel superior when they kill something or blow something up. They are incapable of creating anything or seeing the beauty in this world.
      This is truly a sad time we live in. This is evolution? Seems to me we are headed in the wrong direction. We are devolving in our society.

      43 (Democrat and Republican) states sell assault weapons to people like you and me. 44 (Democrat and Republican) states including Texas, an 18 year old can walk in and buy a rifle or assault rifles and ammo.
      Buffalo New York has some of the strictest gun laws in the US but 15 days ago someone walked into a grocery store and killed 10 people and injured 3.
      No matter what laws are put in place there will always be a way for people (that shouldn't have guns) to get their hands on handguns or assault weapons. Black Market, A family member or friend buys the gun for an individual that shouldn't have one. Unfortunately when there is a will to have a gun there will always be a way to get one.

      My question is, for what legitimate reason does a newly turned 18 year old need two adapted AR15's, a stockpile of ammunition and body armour? Even with no previous record that is questionable.
      The shootings in El Paso and now at this elementary school, refute the "good guy" with a gun theory too, because they not only had an armed resource officer, but there was an entire squad of armed officers chasing him down.
      His body armour is what got him past the resource officer and had him surviving that "gun fight" at the end long enough to shoot 4 officers.
      He went in knowing that at this school not only do teachers have the option to carry, but there was an officer he had to get past first.
      He was prepared.
      Do we need tanks at schools since this kind of military grade weaponry is so readily available to civilians?
