  • Watch OE-XFB, the twin turbine Eurocopter EC135 of The Flying Bulls collection, start-up it's engines and take-off from Salzburg Airport in Austria.
The Airbus Helicopters H135 (formerly Eurocopter EC135) is a twin-engine civil light utility helicopter produced by Airbus Helicopters, formerly Eurocopter. It is capable of flight under instrument flight rules (IFR) and is outfitted with a digital automatic flight control system (AFCS). First flying in February 1994, it entered service in 1996. 1,400 have been delivered up to September 2020, to 300 operators in 60 countries, accumulating over 5 million flight hours.
Taking a look at the history of the EC135, the helicopter is modeled on the BO 105 by renowned manufacturers Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB). When Eurocopter was founded in 1992, MBB brought the BO108 prototype, an evolved version of the BO 105, into the company. Although the BO108 never went into serial production, it served as the basis for the EC135, which took off for its maiden flight over Ottobrunn near Munich, Germany in February 1994.
Since the start of serial production in 1996, more than 1,000 models of the popular multi-purpose helicopter have been shipped to 58 countries, making it the biggest success of the relatively young, wholly-owned subsidiary of the EADS (European Defence and Space Company).
This particular helicopter ws built in 2006 as the 470th of it's kind, and operated by The Flying Bulls based out of Hangar-7 in Salzburg, Austria ever since.

It amazes me that with the mass of each rotor blade applying an enormous centrifugal force on the rotor hub when it spins so fast and the rest of the craft applying it's whole weight of thousands of pounds as a normal force down through the hub that helicopter rotor hubs are freaking amazing pieces of engineering.

I believe that’s the helicopter I got to hitch a ride on to the hospital. Of course it was the medical version. Saved my life 10 years ago

Is there a listing somewhere of the Red Bull flying aircraft? I can't imagine the maintenance costs...
