Yes, VoicePlay pays attention to every detail, the 80s vibe with both audio and video distortion. Like a well worn recording. Love your attention to detail as well, great reaction! Every member slays it in this, love the drums, I could listen to this all day!

I think that what surprises a lot of people is that they all have a good wide range across the octaves, so can full the harmonies in many ways. They did announce this is back to the 80s. So yes, a throwback. They go all the way with the details.

I liked how the beginning was like when your VHS tape was crappy for the first minute or two and eventually cleaned out, often after some big glitch in the tape, exactly like they did. Man, it brings back childhood memories.

This is the song I recommend for newbies to VoicePlay. It gives everyone a chance to flex while still showing off their skill as a group.

I am mesmerizeed by this one by our incredible VoicePlay. I loved your reaction, you made me aware of some things I glossed over the first 2 dozen times I listened to this. I considered putting you on the top of my VoicePlay/Geoff videos but finally opted to having your reaction as dessert. I feel like my chest is still vibrating after listening to this amazing video. I loved it being set in the 80s (great classic car), Layne's line, his stellar vocal percussion, Cesar's line about drowning and the look of disgust, also the sand/dust/slap, Eli has really become an outstanding tenor, J None's voice I think is the closest to Phil Collins and was used to great effect. And then there's Geoff just a gorgeous voice and he makes a fine bass guitar. Just tilt him back and he can deliver whatever you need. I also heard someone define him as a purring panther curled up inside a cello. Looking at your list of VoicePlay: try Tennessee Whiskey, It Ain't Me, Warriors, Dream On,
Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, We're Good, Queen in 5 Min as well as Boy Bands in 5 Min, Man in the Mirror, Butter.

JNone hit a D5 on that belt, which Eli followed up on the same note, and Cesar decided to match after.

    VoicePlay killing it again.
The car belongs to Layne's dad, bought 1972. VP is always particular about details to get the right ambience.
You really have a keen eye and ear for details yourself. Always a pleasure to watch your reactions.

I asked my husband, a car enthusiast, what the car was. He immediately said 3rd generation Pontiac Le Mans, 1971-72 (he couldn't figure out the precise year). Also, he noted that it's in GREAT condition. This would have been the model dads drove or teens got as their first car from a used lot back in the early 1980s, so while it's the wrong decade, it LOOKS right. So nice to see that it's a car that's part of the family.

Until fairly recently (maybe fifteen years ago, give or take, certainly well after this song originally came out), virtually everything used a 4:3 aspect ratio. The major exceptions were movie theatres, and special devices (oscilloscopes, etc). VHS tapes pretty much always contained a cut of the film that was designed for 4:3, so they could be played on a normal television screen (which were nearly always CRTs back in the day when this song came out; projection TVs also existed but were a specialty item; portable computers still used small CRTs; even most pocket calculators weren't using LCDs yet, they still mostly used LED-based seven-segment displays).
Later, when DVDs became a thing, they often had the 4:3 cut on one side of the disc and the original theatre cut on the other side, and so with the rise of affordable DVD players, interest in widescreen televisions grew. (Meanwhile, color LCDs had been developed for laptops and eventually became good enough to use for televisions and desktop computers as well.) The market for widescreen televisions drove enough demand for wide-format LCD panels, that eventually computer displays started using them too, even though a wider display makes a lot less sense there. And then smartphones became common and started being designed to rotate to either orientation, and now all bets are off, the aspect ratio can be anywhere from about 2:5 to about 5:2, which drives a certain class of web developers (namely, the ones who keep wanting to do design mockups in Photoshop) absolutely nuts.

The video's style is meant to suggest an old VHS tape, with sound and video drop-off, distortion, and pixilation. The car is a '72 Pontiac LeMans belonging to Layne's dad. Fun Fact: Many people believe "Oh Lord" is "Hold On" instead. In homage to this Mandela Effect, there is ONE "Hold On" in the cover, See if you can find that Easter Egg.

Phil is my favorite pop artist but VoicePlay kinda outdid him on this one. Never thought I'd say that. Man, this was awesome. Layne killed the arrangement on this, but from 10:04 to 11:00 on your analysis was just genius--from Cesar's clap to Geoff's "oh, Lord" in the basement.
