I will have to read this book (another great video!), because I believe Japan proves an exception to your example (16:10). Japanese society is largely the maintenance of Harmony (Wa/和), and codify everyday interactions by Tatemae (public face) and Honne (private face), known as the tatemae/honne system. Even how you speak to seniors in many aspects of business/society requires a courtly, honorific language called Keigo.

Interesting point about RUclipsrs. Boris Johnson also is a phony putting on an act too though isn't he? Sorry that's absurd about PewDiePie though.

The Book of the Courtier should be paired with Giovanni Della Casa's Galateo. Those two books were best sellers

Are you saying that a public person shouldn't clean his nose in his arm and then shake hands with a elderly woman in the middle of a pandemy? * sighs in brazilian *

Interesting choice today! I wonder how much of the 'courtiership' of that sector of RUclipsrs is in pursuit of what the advertisers' expectations. The amount of 'non-child material' RUclips channels that flatten out their tones, subject matter, cussing etc. because of fear of being demonetized -- would be pretty similar to the actions one would take in relying on court life for your sustenance, I'd think.

I don't know how familiar you are with PewDiePie, but calling him a white supremacists, facist and nationalist sounds like you only heard about him from the same kind of people who once tried to cancel you for a single comment.

Unironically doing what he complains about so often.

Written in 1528???? OH,,, I guess Castiglione's death in 1529 had something to do with the book since YOU SAY it came out the same year HE DIED!!! BUT,,,,, WAITE,,,,, NO,,, you are wrong!! You have OBVIOUSLY CONFUSED the date, unfortunately, because he published in 1509, but perished in 1529!! SO,,,, what else have you confused, or, blundered, or purposely OBFUSCATED about anything you write?? Because this is mistaking the most FUNDAMENTAL INFORMATION a student needs to actually learn!!! DATES ARE IMPORTANT when learning HISTORY!!!! YOU GET AN "-f" AND NO STAR!!! But I love your style and delivery!!

So first you say that a trivial & obvious slip of the tongue means I'm either an idiot or (for some reason) lying about a date (and, maybe, everything else I've ever written), then you say you love my style and delivery? In the words of Castiglione: go fuck yourself.

“The work was composed over the course of twenty years, beginning in 1508, and ultimately published in 1528 by the Aldine Press in Venice just before the author's death.”
