Flykey link - bit.ly/2rdVz7x , Aomway link- bit.ly/2qfmiCn I am sure some people will totally disagree with me and can't stand the thought of any other brand than fatshark, but I find it such an exciting time for the hobby Finally giving people more options for proper fpv style goggles that don’t cost $600
lol, he said decent fatsharks..... teleporters (suck & have a tiny joke of a screen with no dvr or diversity options) may be $350, but dominator 3 is around $450 , and dominator hd3 is $550...
I have predator V2s i bought a long time ago for about 250 US dollars I believe and it was a kit that came with camera, antenna, transmitter, case, goggles, all the bits and bobs, everything you needed. And I still use them to this day.
All this talking about new goggles and how light and comfortable they are and i am sitting here with my quanum v2s with a bunch of stuff taped to it...
quanum v2 are PERFECT for people that wear glasses. I have a set of fatshark DOMv1, base sd, and teleporters and it sucks having to take your glasses on and off, especially when you have vision like me lolol
Hate my v2. Eye strain is a bitch. Screen needs to be farther away, 32lbs of crap strapped to it, hard ass styrofoam, squashes your nose. That said, screen is good for watching movies once removed from the case. I think, at this point, I'm looking at the vipers.
Biggest issue with this is simply the after sale service or lack of, I will spend the extra for the service if needed, nothing like spending 300 bucks and in 4 months the company isn't even around anymore.
Robert Gray , I hear Fatshark's customer Service leaves a lot to be desired. I agree thst $300 isnt cheap, it IS $100 less than V3s with a RX5808, but I still wouldnt use "cheap" to reflect the price especially since you dont get a DVR.
I'm not gonna lie, I haven't seen the whole thing yet but felt like commenting. I got all my FPV gear this week from absolutely nothing to everything I need all on a budget and thanks to you, appreciate the work you're doing thanks again.
dude I'm loving these videos, if I didn't just buy some goggles you already reviewed I would have bought these. now my next purchase to join the sport. is the x220 wizard. unless you have a better suggestion. I have a mini whoop and I love it and getting really good at acro flying opinions?
I don't understand why goggles like these are Sooooo expensive. they use ancient screen technology, not to mention the screens them selves are tiny. DVRs are like $20-$30 and VRXs are only like $30 for a good one, maybe $40 with diversity. I don't get how they can get away with charging almost $300. A head tracking unit also shouldn't cost that much as it's just a dumbed down FC board. I can't wait for like BangGood to come out with a pair of this style goggles and sell them for like $150.
Hi Stew, another great review. Question, you've reviewed the $400 Skyzone SKY02 goggles that I use, how do these $300 Flykey goggles compare? My girls FatSharks may have to go if these compare well to the Skyzones.
It's interesting how quickly this hobby is evolving. When I first got into the hobby a few months ago the options were alot more limited and it was much harder for people to figure this stuff out from knowing nothing. Now there are alot more products, the products are cheaper, and there is alot more info out there to help people get into the hobby.
wow at all the crappy comments talking about how these aren't cheap. $299 compared to the equivalent fatshark at $499+ is cheap by comparison. get off your high horse and strap and giant $50 shoebox to your face if that's your thing, but get real, you don't call a cheap car expensive because it costs more than your roller skates.
ZeroFPV wot? Fov will be higher in 16:9, it's moot in this case though as you'll still be restricted to the fov of your camera. Whether it's stretched out to 16:9 or squeezed in 4:3 doesn't change fov of the incoming signal :-)
The camera you are using has nothing to do with the FOV which the google manufacturers are talking about. Dominator V3 16:9 800x480 FOV 32° --> Dominator HD3 4:3 800x600 FOV 42° So the additional Pixels of the 4:3 screen causing a bigger diagonal which result in a greater FOV. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2812761-FPV-Goggle-diagonal-Angle-of-View-calculations-with-examples
The one specification about the Flykey goggles is the narrower IPD. Says these go down to 55mm, and the minimum for Fatsharks are 59mm. My biggest problem with FSs is that I can't get the IPD to go narrower, so the image is blurry on the edges. So I'm wondering if these will work better for me. I guess my eyes are just closer together than most "average" people.
UAVfutures What I would like to know and as you have tested them both, my question would be; if you wouldn't care so much about DVR but care more about a great reception, would you then go for these FlyKey's or would you still choose the AOMWAY's??? I personally think I care more about a massively better reception then not having DVR, but it still is a bummer it doesn't have DVR, otherwise the choice would have been simple. Thanks for the review and your input. Thanks from Spain
i just looked at those last week:) and you have sold me on them. im still in budget mode, so these goggles are perfect! You always have just what im looking for, from the $99 build to this. Great vid and info as always. Cheers:)
Well if they have aoutsearch the signal will be as good as it can be. The transmitters and recivers doesnt always hit the exact right frequencey. But if your recivers scans it will obtain the same freqency that your transmitter is emitting.
this is not entirely correct. out vtxs put out a bit of bleed into other frequencies. in some cases the bleed is strong enough to trick the diversity rx into locking on the bleed. but when you fly off the bleed is reduced drastically so your fpv goes to rubbish. always check your vtx is matched to your rx, dont just blindly check the auto scan
Great review as always but I think it would be handy if you could do a first test with the kit antenna so people who are looking at a first time purchase can know what we are getting rather than what you get after spending another chunk on the different antenna, that could be another vid, antenna reviews👍🏼
I can't wait to fly I've been in modeling since the 80's as a kid but this is something special i will continue to watch you guys until i see tronics that give me a rise but thanks for the advice
For that price might as well go with fat shark or the commander ones you just showed us. 300 is just to steep of a price with no brand backing.... would be nice to see them at 150 or 200
@UAVfutures could you do a side by side comparison of the flykey and aomway goggles because they both seemed great and around the same price point so it would be nice to know which one is more suited for me
Do you think you'd be able to get some sort of composite video capture card for reviewing goggles that don't have a DVR? I think you'd be able to get a USB one for ~$40, and we'd be able to see any goggle that has an AV out.
hey Stew, I am new to flying I just bought the holybro shuriken X1 and the Dominator V3 goggles. I'm thinking of buying the Furious true d receiver I'm just not sure what antennas to get. am I supposed to put the same antenna on my drone that I put on my receiver or can I use the antenna that came with my drone? can you recommend your favorite antennas. do you think the true D is good for the money. thank you for your time. Rick.
Greetings, So, Aomway > Flykey > Fatsharks? Aomway is trolling us with production, since I had these goggles bought 2 and half months ago and still no goggles. Even so, Aomway have DVR + fan (Flykey don't have, you don't mention this I think), plus Cloverleaf antenna + patch antenna (even if it's crap) + any battery can be used. What "bothers" me is the receiver. Do you think the Flykey receiver is better than the Aomways? Thanks for your videos.
Enrique Rumbo glad to know someone else is in the same situation as me. bought the aomway at the end of March and banggood keeps telling me the restock is later and later. apparently not its June 7
Question. Are the diopters (inserts for wearers of glasses) the same as FatSharks? As in, I have bought prescription inserts already for my current FatSharks. Will they fit in this, or is the diopter a completely different size?
have you seen the Aomway Commander goggles? about the same price as these but made by a well known antenna manufacture and have some amazing features! a cut above the rest when it comes to fatshark competition ill definitely be trying a pair before the dom v3
still stumped on what goggles I should get for a first time flyer. ive watched most of the videos on this channel, and most say how amazing all the goggles are. I'm looking for something I'm not gonna be dissapointed with, under 300$. are these the solution or should I turn attention elsewhere.
Hey Stu, Would like to hear you rank the goggles. You have tested the old school. (Fatshark, Skyzone) but also Aomway and now theese. What would you recomend?
I have some questions. How can the video screen be seen clearly when it's so close to your eyes? My eyes can't focus on something that is so close (3 or 4 inches) from my eyes. Also, I have a Hubsan 501S and the controller has a video output but it's so small, I can't find a plug that will fit it. Any ideas where I can find one? Thx
another great review, Stew... do you have any way of showing us the ui/menu when you review goggles? have a look at Le drib's skyzone review, he gets good footage of the lcd with a phone..
I really don't understand the people in these comments ripping on Stu for saying these are cheap. Discounting box style goggles (which aren't really goggles if you're being technical, they're just a screen with a box around them), these are a great deal. Fatshark Dom V3s are $350 and the HDs are $500, and neither come with a receiver, battery or antennas. So to get the same functionality as these, you need a diversity module like the TrueD ($80) or the LaForge ($100), a $20 battery, and antennas. So to get them working like these, the V3s ACTUALLY cost around $500, and the HDs cost $640. And both Stu and Trev agreed that the reception was better on these than on the LaForge! Which is honestly shocking. So yeah, $200 cheaper than the Doms, and $340 cheaper than the HDs. The only thing the fatsharks have over these is DVR, which you can add for $20. So no their not cheap compared to box goggles, but they're half the price as fatsharks with apparently better performance. I'd say that's a steal
I hope these are good as I bought them partially based on your review - no pressure. Just dropped USD $260 on the bangood sale which ends tomorrow. No DVR but I never use one anyway. I'd rather fly than watch and what I really want is range & signal clarity.
I am very pleased with mine. Only negative was the foam faceplate is just too thick and chopped of small corners of the screen. I had to make something up myself 1/2 the thickness. BTW: The coupon code AA20 doesn't work for me and "Only 1 pcs left".
Hey I was wondering if you had a good dron set up I could purchase of you I have been having trouble with other drones and you know what's good and not and I would love to purchase one of yours to feel the difference
hey stu , just upgraded from vr007 to a pair of dommy v1's that i won on ebay for an absolute steal. I notice i can now also do audio and was thinking about hooking it up. Do you use or have you ever used this feature and your thoughts please (q&a :))appi flying !
I was wondering if these goggles will bind to a typhoon q500? I've been doing the RC hobby for 15 years, ya get out for 5 years and things sure have changed. I put a camera on a Corsica about 13 years ago, of course the range was 100 feet maybe. lol great video!
Have had my flykey goggles since this review. I'm very happy still. Only one bad part is... The damn battery. No found replacement yet. Don't worry they still work like the day I got them and I fly everyday.
Thank you so much stew for making these videos! I have just started to get my parts for my first drone build! Which is your $99 one. Keep up the good work
Are you gonna check out the vr d2 pro ?? Mine are almost here was gonna get the goggle 2 but eachine got me with the word "pro" lol also ofvl the equipment not out for this hobby what do you wish would come out sooner then later?
Im so confused, what im after is impossible to get without trying them all. I wish there was a way of getting across the level of immersion, which goggle gives you the most realistic view, some are too small, some are too big, whats the middle ground? the Topsky's big screen sounds great to me but some reviewer said he needed to move his eyes too much to look around which was a cool insight to what hes seeing, so theres a lot to consider.
This was the most misleading video title so far... Those are by no means a "budget goggle"... $300usd is almost DOUBLE the cheapest FatSharks... Quantum Cyclops (&v2) are budget... These are "FatShark alternative goggles" at best, and by no means "budget" for the average bloke.
I can build 2 complete quads with FPV for less than 300! I just cant bring myself to spend that on goggles. I wish somebody would make a decent $100 goggle. I rock Eachine 008. They work and they only cost $60.
Diversity absolutely does not require different antennas. The kind of diversity in flying you are probably most interested in is Spatial diversity. This allows multiple transmitters to share spectrum with a minimum of interference. The other kind of diversity you might be interested in for flying is Physical diversity; where you use two different styles of antenna mostly for their different characteristics. IE one highly directional one for long range, and one omni for short range. If you are racing and in a pack; use 2 of the same type of antenna Spatially diverse (IE separated by a distance related to the frequency). If you are flying planes or something that goes a long way away then go physical diversity. (Check out Wikipedia for more detail)
I just want to adjust the lenses have hd & audio for under 150, that's all. This reminds me of having an rc gas truck and paying mote for it's engine then most things on my car.
I tried a 2s lipo and it smoked but still works. I can't figure out why. It's says on the instructions that is capable of a input voltage of 12v and the 2s is way under that. someone help?
Flykey link - bit.ly/2rdVz7x , Aomway link- bit.ly/2qfmiCn I am sure some people will totally disagree with me and can't stand the thought of any other brand than fatshark, but I find it such an exciting time for the hobby Finally giving people more options for proper fpv style goggles that don’t cost $600
UAVfutures I'm glad to see it too. I really want to see a set of goggles with an iftron receiver.
UAVfutures still out of my budget reach
Gurjant Singh Sandhu hahaha same here. I had to go with the quanum cyclops, which I got 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE V2 CAME OUT. :(
Gurjant Singh Sandhu that's right! I even can't getting I this region and we other guys are only left with this box-style goggles!
UAVfutures 100 bucks and below is cheap 😉. These goggles aren't cheap unless you compare them with the ridiculous priced high-end ones that is..
300 bucks is not cheap man
Seen how much decent Fatsharks cost?
TinyPirate lol, fatsharks are 350
lol, he said decent fatsharks.....
teleporters (suck & have a tiny joke of a screen with no dvr or diversity options) may be $350, but dominator 3 is around $450 , and dominator hd3 is $550...

Nathan Schlenker, gap in the market mate, get to work, make us something resembling these at for half the price😀👍

Hi Stu, I cant find the FOV on these, do you know? how does the FOV compare to Hd3?
FOV will be significantly lower because of the 16:9 aspect ratio.
ZeroFPV wot? Fov will be higher in 16:9, it's moot in this case though as you'll still be restricted to the fov of your camera. Whether it's stretched out to 16:9 or squeezed in 4:3 doesn't change fov of the incoming signal :-)

ZeroFPV Gotcha! I'm used to referring to camera fov which is typically measured horizontally, appreciate the link :-)
krazed0451
:-) you're welcome. I is indeed confusing.
Hey I finally realized who they designed these for, Herman Munster! LOL
(google image it if you don't know who it is)..

Does it work off an external battery even if the internal battery is removed? If so, it could be even lighter on your face.
i just looked at those last week:) and you have sold me on them. im still in budget mode, so these goggles are perfect! You always have just what im looking for, from the $99 build to this. Great vid and info as always. Cheers:)
I love the fact that you have a Frsky sticker on your evolution, and if grumpy trev likes em, they gotta be good, goooodddaaayyyyy.

I just ordered a a pair. Cross my fingers this babies are good. I was waiting on the oamway but they are still out of stock.
what is the field of view on these gogles?
depends on your camera
its 32 deg
Farn0 no it doesn’t
by the way, the jack at 1:43 is to get video in through the headphone jack
I can't wait to fly I've been in modeling since the 80's as a kid but this is something special i will continue to watch you guys until i see tronics that give me a rise but thanks for the advice
For that price might as well go with fat shark or the commander ones you just showed us. 300 is just to steep of a price with no brand backing.... would be nice to see them at 150 or 200

Black gets hot, fan for fogging? The battery looks like it comes out, just charge some extras?? xt60 for 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s???
hey Stew, I am new to flying I just bought the holybro shuriken X1 and the Dominator V3 goggles.
Rick.
They might not have built in DVR but if you can work around that if you really want that image recorded with that AV OUT port.
Greetings,
So, Aomway > Flykey > Fatsharks?
I honestly believe they (aomway) didn't expect so much demand for that product so they have to manufacturate new goggles.
I'm curious as to where this goggle lines up with Fatsharks. Meaning are they close in quality to the altitude, dominator, etc.?
Hi Stu, do they work when you power them with a lipo but take out the internal battery? That would make them even lighter.
Those orange skyzone's on Bgood also have a 48 channel reciever...Maybe the same as those flykeys?...Wonder about the reception on them?
Thanks for all these goggle reviews. Would be interested to know your
thoughts on the Fatshark Transformers. Any chance for a review on
these?
Stu, I think it's time for a new goggle shoot out. Aomway commander vs Skyzone vs Flykey. What do you think?
yep, want to try the attitude v4 but yes I agree
What would be the best antenna upgrade to get a better signal as far as FPV?
Great show. Keep Trev around
still stumped on what goggles I should get for a first time flyer. ive watched most of the videos on this channel, and most say how amazing all the goggles are. I'm looking for something I'm not gonna be dissapointed with, under 300$. are these the solution or should I turn attention elsewhere.
was it the omni/circular antenna that made the reception so good?
Hey Stu,
Would like to hear you rank the goggles. You have tested the old school. (Fatshark, Skyzone) but also Aomway and now theese. What would you recomend?
stu. could you chuck a eachine pro dvr on and put up the footage?
keep up the good work
Would you choose these over the goggles two from eachine?
Stu perhaps you could try the Foxeer monster v2 as a 16:9 camera to go either this and aomways as I've heard good things...
He is wearing a FliteTest T-Shirt

They're down to $215 shipped on BG with code AA20 if you're looking for another set lol.
I am very pleased with mine. Only negative was the foam faceplate is just too thick and chopped of small corners of the screen. I had to make something up myself 1/2 the thickness. BTW: The coupon code AA20 doesn't work for me and "Only 1 pcs left".
TakeItToTheGround my bad, its 20AA!
how is cheap 300 usd while you can fly a h8 mini with telemetry and dshot for 70 with esc and motors...
If you have a external power supply can you plug them in and use them?
Hey I was wondering if you had a good dron set up I could purchase of you I have been having trouble with other drones and you know what's good and not and I would love to purchase one of yours to feel the difference
May sound like a stupid question but do the flykey goggles charge just by plugging a lipo into the dc?
i have an ipd of 59mm so im a bit hesitant about getting the aomways . Do you think these would be a better fit for me
Hey Stu...Just wondering Can you just add a external DVR to these goggles now like the Eachine ev100 Dvr recorder?
I am a bit new to this so my question is, will these work with DJI drones? Thanks
hey stu , just upgraded from vr007 to a pair of dommy v1's that i won on ebay for an absolute steal. I notice i can now also do audio and was thinking about hooking it up. Do you use or have you ever used this feature and your thoughts please (q&a :))appi flying !
What is a better goggle people
The eachine vr006 or the vr077pro ??? Similarly priced ?? Need help
Keep up the good work
Stew are these any good for glasses wearers if u remove yr glasses first
How about the battery life? I find a battery that runs out fast and not being able to replace it with a fresh one annoying.
Love the black but you could buy 2 of the best imax style goggles for that price.
So which one has the better reception? The aomway or these?
Are you gonna check out the vr d2 pro ?? Mine are almost here was gonna get the goggle 2 but eachine got me with the word "pro" lol also ofvl the equipment not out for this hobby what do you wish would come out sooner then later?
You say there is no dvt but can't you record with the av out plug on the goggles I do with my sky zone
what angle of vision does it cover? how inmersive are they?
Can you use this product on a dji phantom 3?
Hi Stu
Which one have better receiver SKYZONE or Flykey
Im so confused, what im after is impossible to get without trying them all. I wish there was a way of getting across the level of immersion, which goggle gives you the most realistic view, some are too small, some are too big, whats the middle ground? the Topsky's big screen sounds great to me but some reviewer said he needed to move his eyes too much to look around which was a cool insight to what hes seeing, so theres a lot to consider.
How much are antennas and which ones do you buy?
So price aside, are these better than the latest iteration of the Skyzone (SKY02 V+) ?
I don't know much about these things but can the video out not be used for showing the footage and recording?
So these get better reception than aomway commander v1? Because mine are in the mail. Lol
Hey I reciently just got these goggle but, how do ya charge them...
I can build 2 complete quads with FPV for less than 300! I just cant bring myself to spend that on goggles. I wish somebody would make a decent $100 goggle. I rock Eachine 008. They work and they only cost $60.
FPV Pilot 777 i have a buddy who bought a pair of FS V2's 2nd hand for £120
Is the flykey compatible with vortex quadcopter?
Hi what would you suggest for a 5in frame ,motors, esc,
can I charge these from a charge at low amperage or can I remove the battery and plug in a 2s lipo with the tx60 connector and run it off of that.
yes
UAVfutures thank you for the Godspeed response
For $300, they could have included a CP and patch antenna. What good is two dipoles?
this is true
You should buy a DVR and record the flight footage of all review goggles that have video output... I recall Banggood has several cheap DVRs ;-)
Will it work on the hubsan x4 501s?
Are these compatible with the nazgul or the enchise wizard?
How long could you fly with that 1s lipo?
Hey Stew, heres another goggle from bangood for 230 with coupon!I would be curious what you think about it,because the price is fantastic.
The name is Hiee HIVR101
how can you connect flykey fpv device to mantiz q drone any feedback... please hep
how long u can fly with one battery? 1000mah only?
Stew and GrumpyTrev, the coolest review team out there :D
I just want to adjust the lenses have hd & audio for under 150, that's all. This reminds me of having an rc gas truck and paying mote for it's engine then most things on my car.
Is it as expensive to manufacture as 20 Emax 2205 motors?
Can you review the skyzone goggles, or have you already ?
I have already
how do you happen to charge the battery on these?
Does it have a fan?
I tried a 2s lipo and it smoked but still works. I can't figure out why. It's says on the instructions that is capable of a input voltage of 12v and the 2s is way under that.
someone help?
