- In this video, I am starting a video series on flipping dirt bikes and making money. I plan for this video series to be about 4 to 5 videos documenting the process I go through to make money flipping this RMZ450. In this installment of the series, I plan to show you what I look for when buying a bike and how to be aware of when they're getting posted. I also start to show the cleaning and inspection process when I notice an issue with the crankshaft and the video takes a turn in a different direction. Stay tuned for the next video where I will rebuild the engine and get the engine back into the bike.

Who else has bought a bike that, “needed just a top end.”
Me, and boy did it cause me some problems
Well mine didn’t just need a top end really the holy bike got torn down and new bearing and bushings in motor and frame fresh coat of paint. And I still isn’t done.
Top end? Pshhh all this puppy needs is a carb clean!
Yep mine was "only needs a head gasket" nooooope needed a whole new valvetrain
@@rookiewrenching938 almost happend tovme
Such an underrated youtuber... You deserve atleast 500k subs
Thanks so much 🤟🏼
soderholm This guy just cleaned fork tubs with a wire brush and scotch bright lad, not even the otsides the actual inside tubes 😂 what a dumb ass
@@rhys7671 it wont affect it fork tubes are gold anodized aluminum it's very tough cleaning it with a wire brush and scotch brite pad wont scratch it
CRF FilmZ man are you stupid getting even the tiniest of scratches on them can damage them extremely bad and they do scratch up easy especially with a wire brush 😂😂
@@rhys7671 obviously you dont know that it was a plastic wire brush asshat
You do great work man. Keep it up. Hair cut aside, I'll keep watching
Thanks man! Haha
Steven Seuffert This guy just cleaned fork tubs with a wire brush and scotch bright lad, not even the otsides the actual inside tubes 😂 what a dumb ass
Lol That’s cold bro... 😂
@@adampaganelli4891 Great hair dude. Unique. The best.
And smile a bit more ok?... You have a great smile...
Made a $2k profit on a ktm 250xc I purchased for $1100. Great video. Hard part is finding the deals
First time viewing your channel and I must say I am impressed with your wrenching. Use of correct tools and attendtion to details, I like. So many young back yard mechanics out there, totally clueless, cutting corners out of ignorance makes me cringe. You're a good dude, thanks for your time documenting your build, I can only imagine how that slows down the process. You have one more subscription, good luck. (NOTE) I see you know about Cameron Niemela, he is a good mentor, good for you.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate that✌🏼
buy low. sell high. done.
this channel is actually dope. I like to watch tear downs of electronics and engines, its also satisfying to see the before and after.
Thanks so much 🤟🏼 glad you enjoy the content
I always go with pro x rod kits they always end up being cheaper and you know you have quality Japanese parts instead of worrying when your Chinese wiseco crank is going to decide to nuke itself.
So dope. Such a difference even after just cleaning it up.
I just picked up a 2007 RMZ450 with a blown head 2 weeks ago!! Hopefully gonna make good money on it
(bought it for $600!)
Yeah sounds like a good flip. You probably will!
How did it go?
@@Mftv12 ended up trading it for a mint condition 2005 KTM 250SX somehow! I don’t know why they traded me such a nice bike that had no issues for a blown one that needed over $1000 worth of work lol...
@@EthanHervig well that turned out voi then 👍
Lucky maaan
I was the 27,000th subscriber! It was so satisfying to see that number change! Definitely a lot of good information tho.
Thanks man! I appreciate you watching the video 🤟🏼
I flipped bikes for years. Bottom line you need to know what there worth in good shape and what parts cost to repair. I made a lot of money but when you add your labor into it you might make $20 an hour
Rzr Rider that’s the thing thought in high school doing this it’s awesome because you are your boss and you making decent money
atleast its honest work. thats all that counts
yea but i enjoy it a lot so its free money :D
Hey great video! How do you keep track of all the nuts and bults? Do you have a certain strategy or a way of organizing everything?
You work like god. Greeting from France !
Greetings ✌🏼
Been doing this for awhile now make great money and get to to what I love make 3x more than I could at any job at my age
That’s sick man🤟🏼
Backstreet Boys are back.....
I flipped bikes for years in Massachusetts where I grew up. I have since moved to Maryland and its tough to find good deals down here and then even tougher to get someone to actually pay a decent price when its done.
Truly though. People dont pay. But a good customer will pay top dollar .
I have thought about doing this myself but been unsure of how to go about it. Keep up the video dude
Yeah, it’s pretty fun. Give it a go!
@@adampaganelli4891 will try it aye
Amazing mechanic bro your on Cameron niemla level keeps it up my man
that was NOT a compliment lol
He makes a living off it so...🤷🏻♂️
oh sweet I had no clue we were in the same state. You got a fan here in kent. thanks for the content
Thank so much 🤟🏼
Mark Rooks me to Tacoma
What state
I do the same thing, one thing to add to your cost is your time. Set an hourly rate for yourself. If you are breaking even after that it isn’t really worth it to me
What is this underratedness🧐
Wd40 isn't water based, the letters in the name actually stand for water displacement but it is very thin and doesn't stay on surfaces long term
Great video the bikes were Iive in Australia start at like 5,000 for a bad one and like 10,000 for a new one
I do this but with pocket bikes/pit bikes
Mostly because Their small engines are super easy to repair, and you can find broken ones for as low as 20 bucks
Nice man!
Thanks for posting this!! I'm really interested in flipping bikes for some extra cash (and for fun). appreciate your inside tips brother! Kudos to you amigo, subscribed!
Thank you!
Great video Adam....Liked/Subscribed !
I'd love to see you dismantle and Split the case on a 4 stroke 110cc Chinese engine...
Your Detail is Superb !
Thank you!
So awesome this seems very fun to do!! Keep it up I might have to try this sometime!
Thank you 🤟🏼 definitely worth a try
I think you're supposed to hold the wrist pin puller so it doesn't spin while you use it...
Front flip or back flip?
Great series
Thank you 🤟🏼
To get the oxidation outta the engine cases you can use an aluminum cleaner and that mop on your head..😂😂
Excellent video
I’m a teen and am looking to get into flipping dirt bikes, but I know nothing about parts, bikes, etc. what is your advice for me?
Buy them broke.gearbox problem bikes are the best cheaper to fix if they say just needs a piston its gonna need a resleeve and main bearings and crank bearings otherwise the seller would just fit a piston and sell it for more
That’s a good point.
How about in today’s market ? Still able to turn a profit when almost anything running is 3 k and basket cases are 2500
great tips Adam Thanks
Dude, use a heat gun to get those stickers off. Then paint reducer is way better than goo gone, waaay better.
God video! Keep up the good work
Thanks man ✌🏼
Hey just wondering what type of brush your using to scrub with? Cheers. 👍
Love your videos and background music brother
Thanks man 🤟🏼
Why do you not have more subs??? This is a good channel
Thanks man! Channel is growing fast 🤟🏼
nice video bro.
Awesome dude. I bought exacly the same bike for 650€ but i am not so lucky as you are with yours at the moment. Becouse the oil pump wasnt working and than the cilinder and engine head are in very bad shape there are also other problems to so can't wait for next video. And your channel is awesome ;)
Thanks for watching ✌🏼 best of luck with yours
Dang I’d be so nervous to hear, “can get the piston pin out”
Like how big of a mallet did that guy try with and how much play is in the crank now???
you could possibly make money doing this but as soon as you tear into a engine your most likely wont. a lot of people dont add up all the little cost like shipping on parts and the gas money to go get the bike. I would say the only way to make enough money to be worth your time and effort is buying a bike that has been sitting for a while and is dirt cheap then giving it a wash and tune up then selling it.
I subscribed I can tell ur two stroke guy Adam pagnelli ! I'm Suzuki guy!
Thank you!
Nice vid love the channel man
Thank you!
How come there wasnt a bearing in between the connecting rod and wrist pin
Great job keep up the good wprk
Thank you!
I wonder how often a bike has its last ride at the sand dunes? Engine blows up in the sand.
Which power tools do you use the most and/or like the most?
Just let it go man
Great vid! I flipped bikes in highschool as well. Found my niche in the small bikes- crf80, crf100, ttr's because they were easier to work on in my opinion. You ever part them out?
Nice man! Sometimes I would seek parts that I didn’t end up using or replaced. But I never bought a bike specifically to break down and sell.
How did this go so smoothly
Litarlly could have filed it out with a small hone drill bit , I do it all the time
If it has been overheated at some point does that not mean there is something wrong with it?
Hey man do you have the link on where you got the diagram for engine rebuild?
Yo where the new videos at
I’m in wa to and my buddy use to always buy stuff like 5 min after it was posted and would never tell me how. What a dick lol crazy how much bikes are in Vancouver to Seattle area 😅
Hey you should use the scotch pads to clean up the engine cases, it works great
I am thinking I might in part two!
A dremel with wire brush is even better
Couldn't you have used a dremel to sand the weld down on the inside of the connecting rod?
That wouldn’t have been the way to do it because of the unevenness of seemed and sand paper. I could’ve technically had a machine shop do it. My worry with it was that the rod had gotten that hot and I figured the bearings in the bottom end may have been damaged by that much heat
It’d be cool to do this as a teenager and have a normal job
I bought a 07 kx250f for $500 it needed linkage and swingarm bearings the motor just needed a piston. Just waiting on plastics to come in and putting a $2500 asking price on it.
Nice man! That should be a good profit!
The engine went because of the sand dunes he rode it on. Sand dunes are super hard on dirt bike engine.
Ringo Gingo on dirt bikes period
I agree
next upload??!!!! loved up
Working on filming the next one this weekend hoping to have it up by early next week assuming everything goes smoothly.
I love this
Thank you! 🤟🏼
All respect 🙏❤️❤️❤️
Dirt biking is a dying sport. The cost of new bikes plus the mentality of kids today, let's play a digital version is not going to make this sport grow. Second, there are less and less places to ride. Growing up, you could go ride some empty lot and have some fun. Now, everywhere is trespassing, liability, etc. I've flipped a few bikes and made a few hundred, but not anything to make a living on. I live in Houston and there are a lot of bikes here. Most are junk. Folks want to sell a $300 bike for full retail price like it's in perfect condition. "Just need a top end, should be $90 on ebay" is my favorite comment. Yeah, like hell it is. After you sleeve the cylinder, shipping, machine shop cleaning of the rest of the engine stuff, gasket kit, miscellaneous chemicals (carb clean, brake clean, etc) and not including other miscellaneous fasteners, o-rings, etc. Then, add in the famous: I don't have the title, just bill of sale. Title was lost, dog ate it, etc. You are at serious risk for buying a stolen bike.
i already wanna see the part 2, i'm exciting
Should be dropping early next week ✌🏼
Good video
Thank you!
cool video broo
Thank you ✌🏼
i put a 2003 5 valve yz250f on a 2007 rmz250
Nice man!
what part of washington are you from?
Adam, why are you doing the bottom end? Seems like it was in good enough shape to sell the way that it was. Just curious. Still be making a good profit. I have a yz250f around the same year. It's amazing how similar they look inside.
Yes all dirt bikes are pretty similar. Most of the bottom end parts were fine but there was considerable damage to the connecting rod.
@@adampaganelli4891 Gotcha
Why couldn’t you just sand that lump over a tiny bit to fit a new wrist pin😭
What did you use to paint it and to dry it
Paint what
When choosing handles bars is their a certain sz I need ?
It’s usually regular are oversized. Just measure your clamps and determine if you have regular or oversized
What brushes did you use on the frame and the aluminum thanks
They’re linked in the video description
Adam Paganelli thanks great vid btw
I can’t flip it it’s too heavy
No way l live in spanaway so cool
I love dirt bike videos would be awesome to meet you
Yo bro damn these folks on a out your hair do you.... nice video I am think about doing this.. a good investment.. thankz homie.
Thanks man!
I've got a CR 500 Honda & a Z1100 Yamaha ... both I can't get Started. Oh, I have a 3 Wheel Yamaha I can't get started either!?!? Everything else got Stolen.
Oh dang that sucks. I will take your 500 off of you
Adam Paganelli: I'll bet you would! LoL
I took the Carb apart...nothing there. Changed the Gear Oil and the Radiator Coolant. Checking the Spark Plug it seems like a Weak Spark. Hasn't been Started in about 10 years.
Even rebuilding cheap 2 strokes its impossible to make profit here in the lower usa no one will pay over 1500 for a used machine the last one I did was back in 2016 an rm250 lost over 1k never again.
Only 1500 for a 2016? That’s rough
Man, how far south, might drive down and pick up a couple to resell up here lol
Oklahoma to Texas bikes go super cheap, the rm 250 was a fully rebuilt 03 model i sold in 2016.
What was the brush used?
I have them linked in the description!
what type is that rear tire?
It’s a dune tire!
Sick hair doooo
Tnx bro
Thanks for watching ✌🏼
goo ggone is just naptha. way cheaper to buy to by the gallon.
Thanks for sharing!
4th from philippines
I bought a 97 yz125 for 200 and all it needs is a top end
That’s a steal
Adam Paganelli quick question will a 100 rim fit a 120 tire or is that to much
niym up ples
I disagree with the case cleaning you have scotch bright wheels and could take an hour and make it look like it's worth more money just by having the cases look new just my opinion I guess though
I have done this before. Worth the shape of the cases this would take well over any hour. The put side cases which are plain and smooth surface would be worth cleaning
Go to RUclips and type in: Make Money with Motorcycle Helmets - it will make you money for your hobby.
You look like a bonk choy from pvz
Bro u gotta use letgo to
Yeah letgo is good also. There’s not to many people that post in Washington though
your hair does not fit your face lmaoooo
Scotch bright the cases or sims silver engine case paint
Might do a little scotch brite!
should just change the bearings
Unfortunately that would not fix the issue.
On average, what do your profit margins range from? Just stumbled upon your channel. Earned a subscriber!
Thank you! Profit margins are usually anywhere from 2,000 to 500. I’d say if you averaged it all out you would be looking at 1200 per flip. I tend to not look at the total profit to prove if it was successful I usually look at how much i maid per hour.
Welcome to the channel!
