So basically, your point was, “Even the companies are annoyed by these software crackers or modders (whatever you call them).”
But Microsoft on the other hand, is a company which publically accepts the fact that they have the power to know whoever is using a cracked version of their software (cracked by “unauthorized” people obviously), and even lock their computers, as soon as they connect to the internet. But they do no harm to the home users because their main revenue comes from commercial usage. If the home users get used to Microsoft softwares, and they’ll demand the same when working in a company and the company will be bound to pay for it as the usage of pirated versions on the commercial level may even result in lawsuits by Microsoft.
This strategy is kind of genius. Kind of explains the monopoly of Microsoft in particular genres of the software market.
