I grew up in Winnipeg, and after spending many years outside Winnipeg, I am allowed to say the city is unappealing. It's pretty much a dump. Which is why I will die happy if they take it all the way to the top and win the Stanley Cup. I adored the Jets as a kid, so much so that I still remember crying my eyes out when they lost to the Oilers in the early 80's. The Jets were all I had, and when they lost to the Oilers I was forced to come to terms with the fact I still lived in Winnipeg. I'm old now and won't cry if the Jets get eliminated in the playoffs, but I'm almost certain I will cry if they win the Stanley Cup. Go Jets!
Those who know what an incredibly awesome city Winnipeg is just know. The rest, like you, can stay the hell wherever you landed. Nice that you say you won't give a shit if the Jets lose but will be elated if they win. That's about as fairweather as it gets. Good riddance.
I lived in winnipeg till I was 14, moved to yellowknife nwt for another 10, came back the moment I could. The city is a great place. This is a city I will always always want to come back to.
For me it’s the opposite. It’s the more I see other places the more I appreciate little things about Winnipeg.
Also the city really has levelled up in the last 15-20 years..
